just what did i read?! even the synopsis has so many mistakes!! and then they ask us to pay money for such novels *sob* *sob* i really miss novels like LOTM 😔😔
This could be interesting. It's essentially a ghost hunter novel. The horror element is non-existent as the author adds comedy to ghost haunting scenes. This means each ghost has fear value of 0. The author also has the protagonist do silly things just so he can seduce the heroine (who doesn't believe in ghosts so obviously gets herself into several damsel in distress situations). The system is another aspect which I find annoying. It's one of the systems which brutalises the host: "follow my instructions or have your lifespan cut in half!" Not fun. The world building and story development is also iffy. The protagonist reveals his supernatural feats on live stream with little to no consequences. A immature little girl (who doesn't believe in the supernatural) leads a special force tasked with bringing down the supernatural. The protagonist is the only son of a billionaire but let's himself be walked over by randoms. This is such a waste of potential. If the author just planned out the novel a little bit more instead of milking hormonal teenagers for all they're worth...this could've been good. Alas.
This is translation review, not novel review. If you are not familiar with it, webnovel has started westernizing most of the novels in 2021. This is awful practice that kills original novel. At best you get only names, places and organizations westernized and at worst you get half novel gutted and other half totally rewritten by translator. With best case scenario you get only names, places and organizations westernized which introduces plotholes cause while names are westernized, actual writing and character culture arent. You get chinese way of thinking, chinese places and organizations translated into most famous western (USA) alternatives and as a result you see absurdity. And with the worth case scenario, you are not actually reading original authors work, but some "translators" plagiarization cause half novel is removed (sometimes critical explanations) and other half is badly rewritten. And cause this requires so much work compared to normal translation, either webnovel is stealing original authors work and rewriting it (cause most of those novels dont come from qidian) or they are just using translators that dont know chinese so they are rewriting story with help of MTL (seen too many edited MTL translations lately on webnovel). overall any westernized novel deserves automatic 1 star review.
Well, it's the first time I read a system focus on ghosts. Mostly all of the systems are about revenge, or something magical but this one is different. I can't say if I like this book or not because there are some scenes that I like while there are some I dislike.
This series is much better than 95% of the stuff on trial this week, and certainly a rare gem even when other weeks are considered. It has an interesting system with a small hint of developing similar to Trafford's Club.
I'll review this novel from what I have already read before I gives up on it. (And what I kind of remember). So, the novel starts of by... maybe the mc and his so called friends going on a party or something. My got challenged to a game of courage or something along the line. BUT, because of a system randomly synchronizing with him. He faint for awhile before the actual game started. Because of that, he was ridiculed for the reason that, "He already fainted even before the game! There's no way that he could last even 10 seconds into the real game" or something like that. (Sorry If I'm wrong, my brain is too small to comprehend this novel) Anyway, with the system, he can now talk with the ghost in the mirror, of which is confused and weirder out as to why a supposed normal human being are so brave to talk with the ghost. Now with the system power, he lied to the ghost and get a power up something. (However, there are a few time that mc genuinely talk with the ghost and tries to help it because it's probably the right thing to do[Not that the stupid system understand that! 'Ooh you speak the truth to the helpless ghost? MANIPULATION SKILL LEVELED UP!' making the my confused and then didn't even trust himself anymore) After that, he meet a cold personality perfect girl with long leg or something as trashy as that. I also put.. 'some' paragraph comments on it. I predicted that since the girl was so COLD AND MIGHTY, she might as well be a real ghost. ...I think I was right, not too sure because I drop it around that time when the mc WILL flirt with her. Anwyay, that's my review, it would definitely sound biased and you can hate me for it, but that's pretty much the early chapters or at least what I could both remember and understand about it. Yeah... the hate comments is so going in and to be fair, I would be pretty shaken up. Though nothing too bad, I WILL recover eventually.
