章 10: ( Hidden Quest )
In the courtyard connected to forest , Jiraya was looking at Shin with pure astonishment in his eyes.
He just wanted the kid to exchange a real life and death battle for little time before helping him but Shin totally wrecked his plan. He was too happy with the different development though.
He saw huge potential in the kid. Shin had good talent but Jiraya was more impressed with his tactics and ruthlessness. Jiraya could not believe that Shin had experienced his first life and death battle from his excellent performance but after watching him puking almost his guts out , he had no choice but to believe it.
Shin also seemed to have a very strong will as he was clearly mentally exhausted but tried to not loose his consciousness. Jiraya had no idea that Shin's fatigue dissapeared already as he had leveled up from gaining huge exp points from killing a jonin rank enemy.. Well there was no need for him to know this truth either..
Shin on the other hand had now calmed down and was inwardly praising himself for nice execution of his skills during the battle before. He was actually very nervous after all he had to battle a jonin with his meager strength compared to the enemy. Fortunately , the enemy was distracted for a moment which he could use to his advantage. Shin felt really glad that he had used his knowledge to refine his new paralysis poison as he could never win this life and death battle otherwise.
Minato was unfortunately not able to kill his opponent in the time limit so in the end, Jiraya's three clones killed him instead. Shin still did not dare to underestimate Minato because he could see that Minato had great skills but was only not ruthless enough to properly take the advantage of enemy's distraction which was caused due to Jiraya's sneak attack.
Jiraya - Ahem.. well Minato kun , your performance was good but Shin kun's battle sense and ruthlessness was way better. Now you should be able to see that mastering many superior rank jutsu is not the only way to gain strength. Shin kun, I'm very impressed with your skill. Can you tell me from whom did you learn your jutsu and battle tactics ?
Shin was confused for few seconds but soon understood Jiraya's misunderstanding. After all Shin's performance was too great so Jiraya must have thought that he had been learning from some sensei in private.
Shin - I'm just a civilian Jiraya san. Honestly I do not know any other jutsu other than the 3 which we are taught in the academy. I just love to practice my skills and read a lot. So I formed a plan based on that and it worked out somehow..
Jiraya - Then that poison which you used before ?
Shin - Well I created it myself. I read a thick book in the public library on low rank medicine. Many of them are poisonous and can be found in the wild. So in my free time, I tested new formulas on small animals inside the Forest of Death and created some very useful new poisons. I'm glad that my paralysis poison worked though because I did not have hundred percent confidence that it would work on a jonin class enemy..
Shin started scratching the back of his head awkwardly as he felt like he was praising himself. The feeling was not bat at all though.
Minato - Wow.. You are amazing Shin san. Can we have a spar regularly with each other from tomorrow onwards ?
Shin - Dont joke with me Minato kun. I dont have any advanced jutsu or techniques unlike you. So that will not even count as a spar. My tactics are more focused on killing the enemy so sparing is simply not my forte...
Minato - But... Okay , I get it. So can you share some of your battle tactics and herbal knowledge with me then?
Shin - Hahaha.. Of course I can do that. I have basic knowledge on forging , medical baths etc too. It's all the knowledge gained free from the public library but is very useful. I even purchased my kunai from weapon shop after making money by selling low tier herbs to Nara clan's shop. You should also try and learn as much as you can about different things because they can prove useful in unexpected situations..
Minato - Hmmmmmmmmm.. You are right , Shin san. Okay, from now on I will also try to read scrolls of different subjects to increase my knowledge.
Shin looked at the pure smile on Minato's face and also flashed a small smile in return...He thought that it was a good idea to share knowledge with Minato as they can become good friends in time. Minato will definitely become a powerhouse in future if he does not die early so Shin can reap benifits later on..
Jiraya looked at both the kids feeling speechless because they completely ignored him for a while now. Of course Jiraya wont get angry for such a childish reason. He seemed to come on a decision after thinking for a while.
Jiraya - Shin kun, what are you plans for near future ? With your present strength, you can easily graduate from academy..
Shin facepalmed himself as he realised that he had completely forgotten about Jiraya for a while now. He was confused by the sudden question but decided to answer it honestly anyway..
Shin - Hmmm.. I think I will train for few more months at most myself and then take the graduation exam. I will try to join the anbu after that because from my understanding, I can have access to many high rank technique and jutsu more easily that way..
Jiraya - Oh? Your thinking is not bad kid but I have a more great offer for you. I want you to become my personal disciple like Minato here what do you think about my offer ?
Shin showed an overwhelmed look as he was really surprised by the sudden offer. It was great one as he could learn from a future sannin directly. Simply put, Shin had no reason to refuse Jiraya's offer...
Shin - I will of course accept such a great offer Jiraya sensei..
Shin gave Jiraya a deep bow and guessed that Jiraya was happy too as he was laughing loudly now. Suddenly the familiar system blue screen appeared before Shin's eyes and he was very delighted with the notification on it.

Shin froze as he read the information about his reward . He got one of his must wanted skills but he never imagined to gain it at max proficiency already. Today turned out to be a very lucky day for Shin as he got a Mastered free skill , a new master and bulk of exp points... He even forgot to stand properly again and continued to maintain the bow for almost one minute before Minato shook his body and brought him out of his stupor..
