章 38: Her Father's Death
"W-Warren? Where's Dad? How is he?" Georgina grab both shoulder of Warren who's still crying and out of himself. "Warren?!! Tell me, what happened to Dad?"
"Doc, the patient's heartbeat is still not coming back."
"Charge 200 joules, clear."
"It's still not good Doc,"
"Charge 250 joules, clear."
Georgina let go of his brother and went in front of the door, where she heard the noises. Her hands tremble, lips quivers as the tears fell one after another. There's a continuous beep sound came from the machine where she can see a pure straight line. A doctor and three nurses surround her father, who's lying on the single bed, looks lifeless.
"D-Dad... N-no... P-please, dad." She said and slam the door open. She's about to come near him but a nurse stop her.
"Ma'am, you can wait outside."
"L-let go of me, it's my dad. It's my father so..."
"I'm sorry, ma'am, but the doctor is doing his best to revive the patient. Please wait outside."
"N-no,"
Georgina keeps resisting and try to push the nurse, but someone stop her from behind and saw Henrick with a worried look.
"Let go of me, D-Dad."
The doctor keeps doing the thing he did from before and even gives her father a CPR, but his heartbeat never came back. A continuous flat line keep showing on the machine and the beep sound resounding throughout the entire room. There's still hope from those nurse's eyes, but not until the doctor step back, panting after doing a CPR. His face looks gloom and disappointed as he looks into his wristwatch.
"Patient Simon Alvarez, time of death 9:46 pm."
Those words echo inside Georgina's ears. It seems everything went blank, she can't hear anything but those words as her whole body trembles and tears falling faster than before. She shrug her head and find a chance to remove Henrick grips. With raging eyes, Georgina abruptly grabs the doctor's collar, but he avoided her gaze.
"Y-you're a doctor, do something about this. Dad isn't dead, he'll come back to us. Bring my father back, bring him back." Her voice almost crack while saying those words.
"I'm sorry miss, I did everything I can, but the patient didn't show any progress. I'm sorry,"
"No." She said shouting and pushes the doctor before climbing up on the bed to do a CPR to her father.
A nurse try to stop her but she didn't let them get on their way and continue pumping while tears flowing in her eyes. Her tears keep falling on her father's face, but she can't dare to look at him. After a few minutes, she stop that made the entire room silent. She clenches both her trembling fists and tries to not make a noise. The memories of her father keep flashing back inside her mind like a film, from the moment she can walk until they got in a fight. She can't remember some part, especially when she was elementary, but the kindness and love of his father keeps showing from those memories. Pain, sorrow, anger and grief, she doesn't know what to feel as his body getting cold.
She heard her little brother cry while running towards them and hugging his dead father's body.
"Dad, wake up. Please wake up. You can't leave us like this. Dad..."
After hearing those words from his brother, Georgina can't hide her sadness anymore and cry along with his brother. The doctor, nurses and even Henrick can't help but look at the two who's crying like there's no tomorrow.

It's past midnight when their maid came after hearing a word and picks up Warren to prepare for the wake, but Georgina insist to stay and watches his father until they transfer him. Auntie Sita feels worried for her and hesitate to let her stay, but Henrick insist to watch over and walk the two outside the hospital before he came back. It's been an hour since she stop crying but she didn't move from the seat and stare somewhere with a lifeless look. Even though they didn't know each other that much like any other people, he can feel how she loves and adores her father. Her father's death brings nothing but pain, regret, and sorrow.
A sigh escape his mouth as they saw her father's body move into a morgue.
"S-Simon, where's my husband?"
The loud crying voice of a woman echo in the hallway. Both of them look in the same direction but before Henrick can walk to her, Georgina stands up with fierce eyes, slapping her mother face hard. A shock pasted on her face while holding onto the right side of cheek. There's a reddish mark on it, showing how hard Georgina slap.
"Are you crazy? Why did you slap me?"
"You must be the one who died out there and not my father. You should die..." She grab her mother's neck and choke it without conscience.
Henrick, who's a meter away from her, runs towards to separate them while on the other side, a man in his 40s came to pull her mother away. Tears fall from Georgina's eyes as soon as she notice her Uncle Rex behind. She remembers the details Auntie Sita told her before they leave.
The maid said that her mother left inside the house alone around 8:00 p.m. while Warren go to his friend's house, her father attend some business meeting and Auntie Sita went out to buy some food to stock. But then, she came back hearing loud noises from inside.
She hurried back and saw Warren standing lost in thought while his father shouting out of his lungs, looking at both his mother and Uncle Rex standing in front of them, in shock. Her uncle is half-naked and mother wrapped in a comforter. His mixed emotions lead him to having a sudden heart attack.
Out of worry that something bad might happen, Auntie Sita called an ambulance as soon as possible and let Warren came with them while fixing up the issue inside the house.
It's the worst scenario she wants to hear, but it's the fact. These two people in front of her are the reason her father died. She can't help but tremble in anger, trying to resist from Henrick's arms.
"How dare you show your f*cking filthy faces in front of my dad? You killed him, you f*cking killed the only person who loves us the most. How dare you take him away?"
"What are you saying?!! Your father did that to himself. He's immature despite of his age." Her Uncle Rex said that rings inside her ears. A gush of anger rises inside her body. She uses all her strength to get away from Henrick. It only took a few seconds before she got free and run towards her uncle.
She grabs his collar with eyes full of madness and pushes him down, climbing on top while punching his face. On the other side, her mother keeps saying something while pulling her hair away. It's a chaos. Even some patients in other rooms came out to see what's going on, but Henrick's face gets dimmed as he saw how they try to hurt Georgina. He strides a heavy walk and pulls her mother's hand before pushing her to the ground.
"Didn't I told you not to touch a single strand of her hair?" His serious voice resounds in the hallway that startles Coleen.
He grabs Georgina's hand, pulling her up to separate from the man whose mouth is bleeding now. After a few seconds, a guard came in a hurry to see what's going on. They look back and forth towards each other side.
"Take away those fools," Henrick said.
The guards doubted and hesitate to follow, but a patient from the next door insists that Georgina's mother starts the fight so they drag the two outside. As soon as they're gone, Georgina lost her strength on both legs and falls down on the floor, crying hard again.
"H-how dare they call my father immature? How dare they mock on him?" She keeps murmuring to herself.
"Gina, calm down."
"Dad will still be alive if it isn't because of them," she said. "They ruined everything I protected, they take away everything I had... No one will love me the same as my father,"
Henrick crouches down to level her before he hugs her tight. She let out her pain and cried out loud.
"Your father will not be happy to see you cry like this. Stop crying and calm down." Henrick said, caressing her back.
"I-I want my father, my dad. Why I can't protect anyone? All I did was lose them one by one. I'm worthless."
"Shh! You're not worthless,"
Georgina cried for a long time in his arm and all he did is to comfort her and reassures that everything will be fine. It took a few more minutes before she calm down, but he can still hear her sob between the silences.
