章 39: Train A Loser
Killua and Gon reached the town where Morel's apprentices, Knuckle Bine and Shoot McMahon, were stationed. The town was a quiet, unassuming place, a stark contrast to the danger that loomed over NGL. Knuckle and Shoot had been briefed about the upcoming test and were prepared for the arrival of Gon and Killua.
As Killua entered the town, he was greeted by a familiar face. Biscuit Krueger, the veteran Hunter who had previously trained Gon and Killua, stood with a welcoming smile. Beside her were Grover and Palm Siberia, both ready to assist in the training.
"Killua!" Biscuit called out, waving enthusiastically. "We've been expecting you. Come on over."
Killua and Gon approached them, feeling a mix of relief and determination. "Bisky. It's good to see you. What are you doing here?"
Biscuit's smile widened. "We're here to make sure you and Gon are ready for your fight with Knuckle and Shoot. We've got some intense training lined up."
Palm nodded, her intense gaze fixed on Killua. "We need to push you to your limits. Knuckle and Shoot won't go easy on you, and neither will we."
Grover, with his calm demeanor, added, "We'll be utilizing the Accelerated Sanctuary for your training. You'll have plenty of time to hone your skills."
"Do I know you?" Killua asked.
"Sorry. My name is Grover. I'm here with Biscuit to help you train in the most effective and efficient way. I think you know who my king is. His name is Yuuma. He sent me to assist you."
"And I am Palm. I'm a student of Knov. My teacher asked me to help you train, so I called forth the best person for the job, Biscuit. With my ability, I was able to see that she was the answer."
"Because Grover's ability needs a clear space to activate, we'll be going to the outskirts of town where we won't be disturbed," Biscuit explained.
Gon, determined as ever, said, "Well, as long as I can get stronger and save Kite, it doesn't matter what kind of training I need. I'll make it happen. I promised."
"Good, you boys are ready for some hard training. We want to get down to it. You'll be focusing on maintaining your Ren. By doing this, you'll be able to keep yourself in a stronger state for both offense and defense, which will be needed to fight any strong opponent or Hunter."
"Thanks to my friend Grover here, this can be sped up exponentially. Of course, you will be forfeiting a month of time by entering his ability called Accelerated Sanctuary. But if you use your time wisely, within this month, you will gain the strength needed to fight Shoot and Knuckle. Technically, you will only be in there for 12 hours in our time, but for you, it will feel like a month."
Gon asked, "I understand all that, but why isn't Yuuma here?"
Killua added, "Yeah, why isn't Nicolias here either?"
"Yuuma and Nicolias have something else to deal with, so you're stuck with us for now," Biscuit replied. "Grover, go ahead and start up the ability."
"You got it, Miss Biscuit," Grover said. He sat down in a meditative state and activated his ability. The sanctuary appeared, mysterious and majestic. Automatically, Killua and Gon entered the sanctuary, ready to begin their intense training.
While Gon and Killua trained rigorously inside Grover's Accelerated Sanctuary, Yuuma and Nicolias observed Knuckle and Shoot from a distance. The two apprentices of Morel were engaged in a light sparring session, showcasing their unique abilities. Yuuma knew this was a valuable opportunity for Nicolias to gather intel on their opponents.
Yuuma turned to Nicolias, his eyes reflecting a mix of determination and excitement. "This will be a good opportunity for us, Nicolias. Let's see how strong they really are. I'm going to challenge them both at the same time."
Nicolias nodded, his analytical mind already processing the potential strategies they might face. "Understood, Yuuma. I'll observe and gather as much information as I can."
With a confident stride, Yuuma approached Knuckle and Shoot. The two fighters paused their sparring and turned to face him, their expressions curious but wary.
"Hello," Yuuma began, his voice calm and steady. "My name is Yuuma. I'm here for the tokens in your possession. I hope you don't mind a little challenge."
Knuckle grinned, his carefree demeanor hiding the intensity of his resolve. "A challenge, huh? Sounds fun. I'm Knuckle Bine.
Shoot exited the trees and knuckle introduced him and this is Shoot McMahon. We were expecting Gon and Killua, but you seem like a worthy opponent."
Shoot, more reserved and focused, gave a slight nod. "If you're here for the tokens, you'll have to prove yourself."
Yuuma smiled, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "That's exactly what I plan to do. Let's see how well you both handle a real fight."
The three fighters took their positions, the atmosphere charged with anticipation. Nicolias watched intently from the sidelines, his eyes following every movement, every subtle shift in their stances.
Yuuma initiated the battle by summoning his Orbs of Dominion, choosing the conjuration orb ability, Jar of Souls. The mystical jar appeared before him, radiating a dark, swirling energy.
Conjurer Nen Beast: Jar of Souls
Form: A mystical jar that absorbs the Nen of defeated enemies.
Abilities:
Soul Absorption: Absorbs the Nen of defeated enemies to create new Nen beasts from their energy.
Soul Fusion: Allows the Nen beasts within the jar to fight and merge, creating stronger and more powerful beasts. The jar can hold up to 12 beasts at a time.
Nen Curse Absorption: Absorbs and neutralizes Nen curses, storing the cursed energy within the jar or Nen attached to user.
Yuuma nodded, a determined smile on his face. "Let's see how you handle this."
The battle commenced with a flurry of movements. Knuckle charged forward, his fists glowing with Nen, while Shoot sent his floating hands towards Yuuma with incredible speed.
"I don't know what that jar is behind him, but it doesn't look pretty. Whatever the case, as long as I hit him with my attack, we should win. Plus, I've got Shoot backing me up," Knuckle thought.
Yuuma, seeing them split up, had a smirk on his face. "You know, you only have to worry about Shoot," he thought. An idea sparked in his head. "Why don't I just let them both hit me at the same time? This might make them hesitate."
Just as he thought, Shoot hesitated, striking him while Knuckle continued his attack, landing a punch on Yuuma's side. Knuckle, excited that he actually got a hit in, thought that Yuuma would be a stronger opponent, but he seemed weak to him.
"Well, Shoot had a different idea. His guard was just completely down and it just didn't make sense. Something ominous about it was giving him the creeps. He fought against many magical beasts and knew that those who allowed an attack to come through were only testing their opponent. It's a sign of being completely confident in themselves. This is what made him hesitate," Shoot thought.
Since Knuckle's attack made a clean hit, a being with wings appeared behind Yuuma.
"How do you like it, huh? Yuuma, this is my ability, Hakoware. The thing behind you is going to incur interest."
"Knuckle, say no more. The opponent's not a friend. If you continue to give up your information freely, we only put us in more of a deficit," Shoot warned.
"You're right, Shoot. I totally forgot. He's an unknown person. There's no need to share our information. Let's just defeat him and ask where Gon and Killua are. We don't have to waste so much time staying in this city any longer if we can just find them, and take the tokens from them. Return to our master."
"Are you guys done yet?" Yuuma said to them. "I noticed that this creature behind me has a number on top of its head, and it's been carrying interest for every 10 seconds. The number was originally at 310, but now it's at a higher number. I've also noticed that I've got more aura at my disposal. I'm guessing this is one of your abilities. So I'm guessing the more you put aura into me, the more I incur interest over 10 seconds. Interesting ability.
So show me what you got, Shoot. Or are you just a scaredy cat?"
"What did he say, Knuckle? He just called me scared. Fine, if you want to lose to me, I'll make sure it's brutal," Shoot replied.
"Well then, come on then. I don't have all day," Yuuma said.
Shoot readied his three floating hands and himself, going in three different directions and attacking from all sides. Shoot snuck behind him and attacked from the back, jumping to his right side and sending a punch to his eye. Yuuma allowed the attack to hit, losing his sight in his right eye. Shoot, seeing that his attack went through, was exciting to him.
"Now do you understand how powerful we are? You surely underestimated us. You got it, kid," Shoot said.
But Yuuma was unfazed. "It was all in my calculations. I needed you to show me how your powers work. I know as soon as you hit me, a cage popped up behind you. I'm assuming my body part is now in there, right?"
Hearing this, Shoot's face became distorted. He was caught off guard by the accuracy of Yuuma's observation.
"What are you? How did you know that?" Shoot asked.
"I mean, it's pretty obvious. The cage only appeared after you hit me. It only makes sense that the body part that's now missing would have one there, seeing that it doesn't appear on your body or float outside of mine," Yuuma explained. "But since I've been hit by both of your attacks and now they're affecting me officially, it's time for me to take back what was mine."
"Jar of Souls. As the decrees of the jar are spoken, return what is mine," Yuuma commanded.
The seals on the jar opened, and dark hands appeared from within. "Devour. Devour. Devour," the jar stated as it grabbed Hakoware, pulled it in, and closed its lid. One of the jewels on the top of the jar glowed a reddish color. There were 12 jewels in total, and now one was occupied by Hakoware.
Yuuma used the Jar of Souls to capture Knuckle's Hakoware. The mystical jar absorbed the ability, transforming it into a new Nen beast. "Jar of Souls, release the creature that is contained within."The newly created beast, Debt Collector, emerged, embodying the essence of Hakoware but with a twist. Instead of a cute look, it had a more vicious appearance, with sharp teeth, claws, and black wings. The beast had the power to absorb aura from its target based on how many hits it landed and retained the invulnerability from Hakoware, but it could only focus on one target at a time.

The beast lunged at Knuckle, each hit it landed absorbing a portion of Knuckle's aura. Knuckle tried to counter, but the beast's invulnerability made it nearly impossible to land a decisive blow. Meanwhile, Yuuma used his Orbital Orbs to intercept Shoot's floating hands, sending the glowing orbs to counter his attacks.
"You're in range," Yuuma said smugly."
Yuuma got close enough for the Jar of Souls to be activated once again, absorbing the bird cage and Shoot's possession. This released the curse and gave Yuuma his eye back, but at the same time, the jar began processing the bird cage ability.
"Now that you've shown me your abilities, let me show you mine," Yuuma said, his voice calm.
Knuckle's eyes widened in shock as he realized the nature of the beast. "You turned Hakoware into a Nen beast?"
Yuuma nodded, his eyes focused. "Let's see how you handle your own creation."

As Shoot's floating hands attempted to strike, Yuuma summoned another beast from the Jar of Souls, one based on Shoot's ability. The new beast, Hotel Rafflesia, emerged as a twisted version of Shoot's birdcage ability. It had the power to shrink and teleport parts of its target into a cage, causing disorientation and creating blind spots.
Shoot, seeing the new beast, tried to attack Yuuma directly, but Hotel Rafflesia intercepted him, shrinking one of his arms and teleporting it into the cage. Shoot staggered, his vision impaired and his movements disrupted.
"You underestimate us," Shoot muttered, struggling to maintain his composure.
"Maybe," Yuuma replied, "but I've learned to use my opponents' strengths against them."
Debt Collector continued to assault Knuckle, absorbing more of his aura with each hit. Knuckle's movements became sluggish as his aura reserves dwindled. Yuuma then directed Debt Collector to drain the accumulated aura, transferring it to himself. Knuckle, now severely weakened, could barely stand.
Yuuma then focused on Shoot, who was still disoriented from Hotel Rafflesia's effects. Yuuma used his Orbital Orbs to launch a coordinated attack, overwhelming Shoot and forcing him to his knees.
With both Knuckle and Shoot defeated, Yuuma stood victorious. He deactivated his Nen beasts, the energy from the captured abilities returning to the Jar of Souls.
"You fought well," Yuuma said, his tone respectful. "But these tokens are mine now."
