It was now a week since I claimed Karen, and our lives had been good. I spent a lot of time with her indoors, and we went out in the evenings. I knew I had somehow neglected my duties at the pack, but it wasn't because of Karen. It was because we were at a dead end. Since Maria had informed me that Giles wasn't behind the attack, I figured there was no need to follow Marco's lead. I had tried to inform the guy that he was on the wrong trail, but Gavin had advised me against it. I could see his reason. Given that the culprits were still hunters, we really couldn't trust anyone. The only reason I knew I could trust Gavin was that we had sworn an oath, and he could not lie to me.
Karen and I were watching a movie in the lounge when my mother barged into my house, fuming with anger. Karen shook at the sight of my mother and tried to leave, but my mother pushed her back, and she fell.
"What is the meaning of this, mother?" I asked her.
