"Big bro?" Annie asked for my attention while eating breakfast.
"What is it?" I answered while putting my phone down.
"How come you treat me like a baby? I'm almost 13 years old."
I stared at Annie. She was giving me her cute, sweet baby look like those people from anime do. My heart was being stabbed by an arrow, so sweet. So adorable. How could one resist the sweet gaze of a child?
"Ahem, I don't treat you like a baby." I cleared my throat, pushing my current thoughts away. "And just because you're almost 13, it doesn't mean I can't look out for you."
Annie huffed and poked her food with the fork in her hand. She sighed and stabbed the food, resting her chin in her hand. I knew what that meant. How would I not know? She was starting to get doubtful, which doesn't happen often.
"Annie, I have a job. You have food and water. We have enough money to pay for a small apartment. What are you worried about?"
"Liar." She pointed her fork at me and gave a stern look. "You don't have a job. Your struggling with money to pay for the bills, school and food. You were fired from your previous job and now struggling to find a new one."
I pinched the bridge of my nose. I don't want Annie worrying about all of this because it'll cause her to live a more adult childhood. I don't want that. I don't want her to be an adult while she's a child. That's what I had to do for that last seven years. I don't want that for her.
"Honestly, you shouldn't be worrying about that. I just want you to live a normal childhood. You won't be a kid forever."
"Well, your still a kid. You're not even 18 yet."
I waved my hand at her. Little specks of magic floated toward Annie and zipped her mouth shut. I never really used magic on Annie unless I was either stressed or tired. And using magic on someone like Annie, it makes her a little upset. So I never used it often.
Annie growled at me, like she was a cat(those are her favorite animal after all). She pushed her food away and picked up her butter knife. She pointed the knife at me in a threatening way. I rolled my eyes and waved my hand again, giving Annie a chance to speak again. She threw the knife at me and sat back down, crossing her arms. I caught the knife, my reflexes kicking in, and set it down in the table.
"I don't want you worrying about this anymore. Alright?" I scolded Annie.
"Hmph, maybe if you saved mom and dad in the fire, then you wouldn't have so much trouble with me."
I flinched when hearing Annie just spout out those words nonchalantly. How could she say something like that? I stood up out of my seat and slammed the table, then picked up my own fork and pointed it at her.
"Don't say stuff like that. Mom and dad were already dead at that point. The fire and debris had already killed them. If you died then there would be no point for me to live."
Annie stared at me, then put her hands in her lap and looked down at the table. She mumbled a few words and rubbed her hands together.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you mad."
I sighed and sat down. I finished my food and put my plate in the sink. I took Annie's plate once she was done and put that in the sink as well. Annie still had a mopey look on her face. I dropped her backpack onto her lap, causing her to come back to reality and she looked up at me.
"Time to go. When you're done with all your classes, I'll pick you up and you can come on campus. We're practicing and deciding on a sing officially today."
Annie swung her backpack over her shoulder and stood up. We walked outside together. I picked up Annie, surprising her.
"Hey, jerk! Put me down!" She demanded.
"Oh?" I smirked. "Make me!" I threw Annie into the air and she started to float. "If you don't start flying, I'll chase you all the way to school! Perk up!"
Annie blinked, then laughed. She started flying in the direction of her school, thanks to the spell I had casted. That spell always comes in handy when it came to transportation.
I started my flight to my own school. People were flying everywhere. Expected, because everyone knows how to fly, it's a basic spell. I pulled out my phone and called Neo. I just wanted to tell him that Annie would be coming over to watch us practice again.
"Agh!" I heard a gurl exclaim as we crashed into each other.
The books in her hands fell down, along with my phone. Shit, I just knocked over a girl. I reached out to the book as they started to fall. They floated back into my hand and so did my phone. I unbend the back of my hand and handed the books to the girl.
"Sorry about that." I apologized. "That was probably my fault."
"Oh, no, no!" The girl took the books I was offering back. "That was on me! I wasn't watching where I was going. I was really in a hurry!"
This girl was so jumpy and…kind of shy-sounding. She sounded like she didn't know how to start a conversation, or even talk in one for that matter. She just hid behind her long locks of cherry pink hair. Her round green glasses and freckles reminded me sort of a strawberry.
"I'll be on my way!" She shouted, causing everyone around to stare at her. She blushed and curled in a ball. She floats in circles in embarrassment. "I didn't mean to yell…"
"Haha, it's alright." I laughed. Then I noticed something. She was wearing the same uniform as me. She must go to the same school. "Oh, do you go to Mythic Drop High?"
"Y- yes! I do. You go to? Of course you do! You're, um, wearing the uniform. How stupid of me."
"I doing think I've seen you at school before. What's your name?"
"Cherry Green."
My face may have been straight and casual, but inside, I was straight up laughing and dying. Cherry Green, she looked like a drinking cherry! Not to mention her last name, Green. Her name is just based off of fruit. I sound so mean.
"I'm Ash Grieve. It's nice to meet you, Cherry. I can help you with your books, it seems like you've got a lot to carry."
"Ahaha, thanks! It is kind of heavy. By the way, you look really nice."
"Hah?!"
"I didn't say anything! I'm just- thank you for helping me!"
So confusing. She was definitely the kind of person who doesn't know how to speak in a conversation. Either way, I helped her carry the books to school. Apparently she's only a freshman, which surprised me since she looked like she was super smart.

"Oi, oi, oi!" Ban grabbed my backpack and pulled me back to get my attention. "Are you listening?"
"Huh? Sorry, what we're you saying?"
"He was saying that we found a song to start officially practicing." Jamie leaned over to grab my attention. "I'll be able to sing it too!"
"Uh- wait, you decided on a sing without me?!" I questioned them.
"Ooh, should've waited for Ash." Neo shrugged. "But don't worry buddy, it's a song Annie likes. That should brighten up your gloomy skies!"
"Are you going to leave me in the dust or tell me the song?"
Jamie bounced and pulled out her microphone from her backpack. She started singing into it and smiled. Mind you, this was all in the hallway. So guess what that means, yeah, everyone was no watching.
"If you like the party then the party's in the place! Got the boom, got the bass, I'ma shake it in your face, yeah! Love to party and I love to make it rain, got the boom, got the bang, you can take ur to the bank!"
Of course, Neo has to start singing along. What dummies, they love it when people are paying attention to them when singing. After all, our band is well known in school.
"Going dum, deedumdumdum, deedumdumdumd, deedumdumdum, watch the drum go dum! Deedumdumdumd, deedumdumdum, deedumdumdum, watch the drum go dum!"
I smiled and rolled my eyes. Of course Annie chose this song. People in the hallway started clapping and whistling.
"Mythical!" Someone shouted our band name.
"Whoop, whoop!"
"I love you Jamie! Marry me!"
Random dudes kept yelling and asking if Jamie would marry them. Jamie, being the only girl in our band, was an amazing vocalist. That's her role in our band. Although she's more of a tomboy, she's very pretty and has a really good voice. I mean like, it's amazing. Unfortunately for the dudes who are crushing on Jamie, she's already taken, and they all know who her boyfriend is. And who would that person be other than Ban himself. Despite all of their petty quarrels, they make a pretty good couple.
Ban picked up Jamie in a fireman carry and started running off at the cricking speed of light. He called out to all the boys around and stuck his tongue, sticking up the middle finger at everyone around.
"Kick sand, fuckers! This potato is taken and she's all mine!"
"Mr. Redicka!" A teacher reached a hand out a Ban, causing Ban to suddenly stop and start moving toward the teacher.
"Save yourself, shortie!" Ban threw Jamie to safety and sacrificed himself. Jamie started running to her class and thanked Ban like he was the prince and she was the princess.
My god, these people. How did I surround myself with these type of people? Somehow, apparently. I definitely enjoyed being around them, but sometimes they were just a bit much

"What song did you guys decide on?" Annie asked as we were setting up our instruments.
"Drum Go Dum." Jamie answered, turning her microphone on. "But we're practicing that one last since we already know that song."
"We're gonna practice a more calming song. I think you'll like it a lot, Annie." Neo said as he set up a keyboard.
"Don't you usually play the bass, Neo?" Annie tilted her head to the side.
"Yeah, I play both the keyboard and bass. Just in case the song uses different instruments. It's a precaution."
Annie smiled and nodded. She held Wilki in her hands and leaned against the while wall sitting down. She always liked coming out to listen to us play. And I'm glad. It gets her mind off things.
(Play Everything Goes On by Porter Robinson)
Neo: Don't try to make yourself remember, darling. Don't look for me, I'm just a story you've been told.
Ban: so let's pretend a little longer. Cause when your gone, everything goes on.
Ash: Well, you were staring at the window. And I said, "I wanna take you to the sea." And when I'm better, we'll do everything. I gotta stop making promises I can't keep.
Jamie: But if I was gone tomorrow, won't the waves crash on? Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?
Ban, Jamie: Someday I'll be overcast, but you won't have to cry. Cause we'll do the grieving while I'm by your side. I said!
Neo: Don't try to make yourself remember, darling. Don't look for me I'm just a story you've been told. So let's pretend a little longer. Cause when you're gone.
Neo, Ash, Ban, Jamie: Everything goes on.
Annie started to sing along. She loved this song so much. It reminded her that everything had a reason and sometimes you just had to let go. It reminded her to stay positive and not give up when something makes her sad or upset, like our lives without parents. This message told her to stay positive and bright.
Ash: And I'm so scared of getting used to this. All the vines that keep you tethered in your room. Some day both of us are leaving here. But for now I'll just bring the sea to you. Ooh.
Ash, Neo: When you meet me in the daylight like we did before. Then I felt you on my shoulder, and you weren't suffering anymore.
Annie, Jamie: You said, "I'm sorry that you worry, but don't apologize." I told you to forget me, but you stayed by my side. When I said!
Neo, Ban: Don't try to make yourself remember, darling! Don't look for me I'm just a story you've been told! So let's pretend a little longer! Cause when you're gone, ohh.
Neo, Ash, Ban, Jamie, Anne: Everything goes on!
Jamie and Ban smiled at each other, enjoying the song we just sang. That certain song made us really happy, saying that everything goes on is saying to let go and look at the happy times that surround you. Everyone has at least something enjoyable in their life, whether that person denies it or not. Some people just prefer to be depressed and emo douches who deny anything that brings them joy. That's so dumb. There's always something to look forward to, I don't care what you depressed dummies say, because it's true.
