Jayde groaned as she woke, feeling like she was being smothered in a heat wave. Her jaw also ached, pounding with pain that made her whole head hurt. She lifted a hand and gently prodded the side of her jaw, scowling at the pain and swelling she felt.

She slowly linked her eyes open, narrowing them against the bright light that filled the room. Why was it so bright? Once her gaze focused on the bars across from her, she groaned again.
