Davos Seaworth, the most loyal, a reliable vassal and arguably the best friend of her father Stannis Baratheon, could not hide his trouble with Shireen's normal behavior. Is this one of the symptoms of the greyscale?
"So, I am the only child of the Baratheon family. Let alone as a... daughter?" Shireen examined herself in a mirror, especially her distinct greyscale on her left side of her face. There was a bit of disdain in her tone. "I mean, this is the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The world called Murim does not even exist."
It was strange for Davos, since it was his first time seeing Shireen so off and serious, especially to a trivial thing like this. But Davos didn't show his stupidity like this. Davos wondered if this is one of the symptoms of greyscale that Shireen has.
Though the political atmosphere in Westeros began to get tense with the death of Jon Arryn. Recently, the training and manpower of Dragonstone has become a social issue, and after some time Shireen wanted to go in the army for training, even if she's a girl.
Even though she's the only child and a daughter of Stannis Baratheon, people could see the reality of Shireen Baratheon on how bad and weak she is doing her to the point that she is nothing but a liability.
Davos calmly said, "My lady. Today is the day on your weekly check up of your greyscale. So, it is better to be healthy at all times."
"There is something more than that." Shireen sternly replied.
Davos… no matter how much he looks at it, Lady Shireen Baratheon is speaking now in a different tone of voice with a different weight than usual. It was nothing of a child's but an adult's.
"Take me to the eldest man here. It is more important to me to get to know the world in which I will live in the future, than that of this.. greyscale, whom I will find a way to cure it."
It was really a weird situation for Davos. Not only Shireen is blabbering nonsense about finding a way to cure her greyscale but also he was confused as to why Shireen, a girl who has an educational background of learning from a maester and who have lived the entirety in Dragonstone is saying that?
'But what do I do?', Davos thought.
"I understand, my lady." It was Davos' role to fulfill his duty as a the most reliable vassal of Stannis Baratheon.
The place Shireen moved to was a fishing village not far from Dragonstone's keep. The Dragonstone castle wall could not accommodate all permanent residents, so a fishing village was formed beneath the curtain walls.
At first, the fishing village was quite plausible but as they moved inside, the proportion of shacks in these villages gradually increased.
With a splash, Davos frowned as he stepped on the muddy water.
At the stench creeping up from all directions, he glanced towards Shireen's and said.
"My lady, do you really want to meet the eldest of Dragonstone? If it's related to the history of the territory you're talking about, it's better to talk to Maester Cressen or the library. How about going back now?"
Shireen didn't care about her surroundings.
Like Davos, she stepped into the muddy water without hesitation, and the hem of her medieval skirt got wet in the splashing water.
Davos was perplexed. Naturally, he expected Shireen with a wet skirt to make a fuss, but Shireen did not show any special reaction. It was a situation that Davos could not understand at all.
House Baratheon of Dragonstone is nothing but a cadet branch of the current royal family of Westeros, but Shireen was a person who was usually quite shy and sad about the fact that she is the daughter of a noble family. Especially her face. Shireen guessed that pretty privilege exists in this other world as well, not just in Murim.
The appearance of Shireen acting like a proper noblewoman with no talent for it, because of which when people see her, they consider her as a weak, cursed child. But this time, it is different for Davos'.
He doubted whether it was the same person or not.
'Did she have any head injuries or is this one of the greyscale symptoms?' Davos thought.
After walking without hesitation, she finally arrived at the destination.
She stopped in front of the shack that was being demolished, and Davos looked at Shireen with a cautious look.
"It is here. He is an old man who followed Lord Stannis even before he was first granted Dragonstone by King Robert, and he once worked as a forgeman in a blacksmith's shop back at Storm's End. He's already been ninety and ten names' day, so it wouldn't be strange if he had died. The problem is that he is a bit immobile, so we have to go inside to talk to him."
Slowly, Davos looked around.
The stench was so extreme that his nose was stuffed, and the cobwebs formed all over the shack made him frown.
There was absolutely no space for the children of the nobles to enter. So Davos kept asking for opinions on the way, but Shireen moved on before he could finish speaking.
"Wait outside." Shireen said in a stern tone.
There was no hesitation to be found in her actions.
Reaching out and clearing the spider's web, Shireen went inside and checked the surroundings.
"Are you the owner of this house?"
"How did you come to this shabby place, my lady?" The old man lying inside was startled by Shireen's presence.
He got up from his bed though he couldn't get up because he couldn't use his legs.
"Sit down and listen."
Shireen sat down in front of him. The old man didn't know what to do as he sat down on a dirty ground, so he only looked at Shireen's.
"I want to know everything about Dragonstone. What kind of land is this place and what kind of history has it been made? It's probably going to be a long story, so why don't we talk slowly while drenching your throat with the alcohol I brought?" Shireen winked at the old man.
Shireen showed the bottle hanging from her waist.
Seeing the look of the old man bewildered with wide-open eyes. How can a child like Shireen talk like this? A trait of the person belonging to the nobility class perhaps? Shireen smiled to melt his vigilance.
In this new life, Shireen was now at the very bottom.
Shireen chose to adapt to the new world in her own way.
At first, the old man couldn't speak properly. However, when the drunkenness started to rise, Shireen showed a serious listening attitude. The old man's vigilance was relieved.
"Lord Stannis is the second brother of King Robert. He fought for his brother's war during the Rebellion against the dragons.. House Targaryen. Lord Stannis proved himself in the rebellion by conquering Dragonstone to capture the Mad King's heirs but to no avail, they escaped to the Free Cities with the assistance of the loyalist. After the war, the king received Dragonstone and created a cadet branch out of the current royal family."
The talk between them was long.
Most of Dragonstone's only child and daughter should have known this story, but the unbridled old man narrated all the stories he knew at length.
Shireen's judgment was correct. She asked Davos what the old man liked, and from what he found, he liked alcohol, so he purposely prepared a drink to suit his taste.
Thanks to Davos, Shireen was able to get the information all he wanted.
Woo Ma-wang, also known as the Heavenly Demon and the Bull Demon King, was not familiar with a person named Shireen. Ma-wang has no choice but to accept his fate being stuck in a weak girl's body… forever. Although now, Ma-wang has gradually built up new information in his head as Shireen.
'Shireen.'
Shireen Baratheon.
No, her original name was Woo Ma-wang. The Heavenly Demon. The Bull Demon King. A man who wreaked havoc in the world called Murim.
It was also the life that Woo Ma-wang lived as the head of Cheonmajongpa (in English; the Heavenly Demon Sect) which unified Murim.
Woo Ma-wang, who lived a fierce life as a warrior, has accomplished everything and calmly accepts death in old age.
He knew that after he died, there'd be a civil war within Cheonmajongpa and the conquered peoples in Murim would declare independence from the heavenly demons. It was a great blessing to enjoy all the heavenly beasts though when he opened his eyes, he was inside Shireen Baratheon's body.
It was literally absurd for him.
In fact, at the moment of his death, Woo Ma-wang entered the realm of Deungseon or immortality.
Although there was a holy energy that enveloped his soul, Woo Ma-wang did not want a life where he could not live as a human being, so he refused to climb further. Most of the warriors ultimately wanted to live on the top of the food chain, but Woo Ma-wang wanted to die as a human being.
And now, at the crossroads of a new choice, Woo Ma-wang quickly accepted reality.
'Is this the will of the heavens, or is it God's punishment for not accepting ascension?' Whatever it is, it is a new life and a new environment. For Woo Ma-wang, that was important.
His last years as a HEAVENLY DEMON were boring, but the scenery around him gave him life.
'People must live with a purpose. Having accomplished everything, even though I could do everything, I could not live as a human being. Rather, it's a good thing. Shireen Baratheon, Dragonstone, Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. This world is full of unknowns and will be a new challenge for me.'
His or rather.. her heart raced.
Woo Ma-wang lived a life that will remain in the history of Murim, but looking back now, his life before that, when his life was at risk and fierce fight every day, made his life very boring in his peaceful last year…
A person who can't live normally.
Woo Ma-wang was such a person.
"This is all I know." The talk between Shireen and the old man came to an end.
It must have been a long time and the old man, who he had seen for the first time, seems familiar now.
"Thank you. It has been a great help to me. We will compensate for this separately later."
"No, my lady. Just having a conversation with someone as precious as the lady was a great blessing to me."
Woo Ma-wang, no, Shireen laughed.
But at that moment.
Bang!
Kwadang!
"YOU BASTARD!" loud noises came from the outside of the house. It seemed like something was going on around here.
When Shireen went outside, he saw a group of Pentoshi men beating a boy who wasn't yet an adult just like Shireen the boy is somewhat older than her. Nevertheless, Woo Ma-wang, no, Shireen Baratheon is witnessing this scenario.
"You poor bastard."
"Just fucking die!" The man then front kicked the boy's face.
The boy did not shed a single moan despite the intense beatings. Perhaps that incited the men's anger even more, and the men indiscriminately beat the boys with the intent to kill them. The boy's body shook with the sound.
The skin exposed on the outside of the boy's clothes was already stained red with blood bruises, and his face was also messed up and his nose was dripping with blood. People gathered around in the chaotic situation.
Though when they saw Coin of Pentos-related tattoos on the men's bodies, they looked away as if nothing was happening there.
"What's going on?!" A childlike feminine voice echoed towards the men.
'My lady!'
Shireen stood next to Davos.
Davos was watching the scene, and he said in a cautious voice when Shireen appeared.
"It seems they are part of Illyrio Mopatis' underworld organization, the magister of Pentos. It is a usury group that is active not only in Dragonstone but also in the Crownlands and nearby Free Cities. There are rumors that they're Targaryen loyalists, my lady. And seeing them do that, it seems the boy owes a great debt to Illyrio Mopatis and probably will get enslaved if he fails to pay the debt. You just pretend you don't know. There is nothing good being tangled up with them."
Shireen's gaze looked at the Mopatis crew.
Despite the high interest, the violence occurred because the boy's family borrowed money from Illyrio Mopatis and did not pay it back.
The problem is. 'Punishment is not the responsibility of ordinary people.'
This is the land of the Baratheon, specifically Stannis' line.
As explained by the old man, they are obliged to judge and solve any problem by the lord or the lady.
Shireen Baratheon.
'I still haven't quite figured out how to act as Shireen. Let alone as a girl.'
What is certain is that Shireen is dead. The first thing she found out when she woke up was that she fell from the stairs and Shireen's diary. She read that Shireen is often having nightmares. Though she's a kid with a disease, the contents of her diary was sad and it shows how weak Shireen's mindset was despite the fact that she's just a kid. That kind of mindset doesn't exist in Murim. A world where Ma-wang came from.
The Seven Kingdoms is a kingdom that is always under the threat of war. Either through rebellion, a civil war, pretenders like the Blackfyres, etc.
When there is great chaos, comes great opportunities.
'From now on, I am Shireen Baratheon.'
No matter what kind of life Shireen has lived, as long as Ma-wang owns this body, she will believe and follow the 'values of the Heavenly Demon and Bull Demon King, Woo Ma-wang' from now on.
"STOP!" Shireen yelled.
"My lady!" shouted Davos.
At Shireen's sudden action, Davos was startled and stopped Shireen. Though it was already too late.
Shireen's voice was loud, and the Mopatis gangsters who had stopped beating, looked at the girl with puzzled eyes.
"Shireen Baratheon?" It was a sight to behold. The problem was that Shireen's reputation couldn't contain them.
"Hey kid, this is our business." said a gangster with a heavily Pentoshi accent.
"It is okay that you are the daughter of Lord Stannis Baratheon, my lady."
"Ignore the kid and kick this bastard already!"
The gang continued to kick the boy for fun.
"Ser Davos." Shireen looked at Davos. The strong, low-pitched feminine voice caught the attention of Davos, who was a bit cautious.
"I don't know the laws of this place very well yet. So explain, who broke Dragonstone's decree here? And for breaking the law, what kind of punishment is appropriate?"
Davos felt like he was being sucked into Shireen's eyes.
Dragonstone's cursed and ugly child. The unsightly child who lived like a child everyday caught Davos with a powerful force that he couldn't escape now. In the current situation, it is to retreat and bring reinforcements to apprehend these foreign gangsters. However, Davos unwittingly told the truth.
"The boy was guilty of not paying the debt on time. It certainly deserves punishment, but these foreigners have no right to punish it directly. Above all, they dared to speak insulting words against the daughter of Lord Stannis Baratheon in Stannis' domain. It is a felony that cannot be forgiven even with life. According to the law, it is not strange that receive the death penalty." Davos bowed his head to the girl.
His heart was pounding a bit, it's like he is speaking to an adult instead of a child.
Silence descended on every place and there was no sound of voice, speaking or anything. Just a boy's moan as he gets beaten up by the foreign gangsters.
"You have violated the laws and justice of the Seven Kingdoms." Shireen stepped forward.
'My lady, what are you doing?!' having no choice, Ser Davos unsheathe his sword.
In front of everyone watching, she picked up a common branch from the ground and pointed it at the gang like a sword.
"From now on, as the daughter and heir of Lord Stannis Baratheon. In the name of King Robert Baratheon, the first of His name, King of the Andals, Rhoynar, and the First Men. Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, I will execute all of you as the sentence for you who have broken the law."
The Mopatis gang looked at each other with bewildered expressions. In particular, the man with a ferocious face, who appears to be the captain of the crew, looked around to see if there were any unknown variables.
"I understand that you're a noble who doesn't know how the world works especially that you're a kid but you're putting us in a real tight spot. If you talk to us with tattoos of Pentoshi coins on our arms-"
Shireen laughed bitterly.
"That proves it."
"Huh? What are you saying, girl?"
"You guys are trash. Since you talk to the owner of this land like that, I have no need to know what you usually do!" Shireen immediately rushed towards the gang. This made the gangster captain's pupils widen at the sudden appearance of Shireen in front of them.
"My lady, wait!" Ser Davos began to rush towards the gang as well.
"Attack that little bitch and her bodyguard!" yelled the captain.
The gang rushed in all at once towards Shireen and Ser Davos.
The captain also attacked Shireen's vital point without hesitation with the dagger he was holding, but Shireen dodged the attack with just a few moments in front of her. Black hair fluttering in the wind. Shireen's sharp eyes met the captain.
Ke-uk!
The captain, whose neck had been pierced by a branch, bit the foam of blood. The situation happened so quickly.
The Mopatis gang attacked Shireen with all their might.
Meanwhile, Ser Davos was able to slice off a few men using his sword, and tried to help Shireen who is literally outmanned.
But there was no need.
Shireen, who had dealt with the captain, managed to dodge all the men's attacks with a movement that was close to divine, and dealt with them one by one. It was also interesting to strike a dagger with a branch, and every time she attacked with a branch, a hole was punched in the vital points of the men.
'The current owner of this body is the leader of the Heavenly Demon Sect, Woo Ma-wang which is me. As long as I took over this body, I'm going to live Woo Ma-wang's way.' Shireen thought after stabbing a man's neck by using a branch.
"A monster! Th-this bitch is a monster!" yelled one of the gangsters.
'Is this Shireen Baratheon?!' The men were perplexed. Even Ser Davos was shocked by this turn of events.
At first, they risked their lives to fight, but when they saw their comrades dying helplessly, they were terrified. The trend has already turned. Men who fall one after the other. The moment the last remaining man was about to run away, Shireen's wretched hand grabbed the man's hair.
"Let go, let me go!" The man was furious.
At the sight of his colleagues scattered around him, his face was pale and tired.
"You have violated the laws and justice of the Seven Kingdoms. And instead of reflecting on your crimes, you tried to cover up the situation by threatening me." Shireen continued, "In order for a group to proceed correctly, it is necessary to abide by the law. I will not take your life, but I will show people the fear of messing a Baratheon by setting an example for you."
The man is called Cheonma (in English, the Heavenly Demon or demon from the heavens).
In the world of Murim, Shireen was the law.
Shireen, who had been a leader all her life, knew what choice she had to make for the law, even if it was cruel.
"Euk!" the man knelt down
Then she tilted her head strongly, and with the rest of her hand, she pulled his tongue out.
"The sin of playing the wrong tongue. Pay a price commensurate with it."
The man was furious though there was no way to escape. Shireen's wretched hand strongly suppressed the man's body, and Shireen grabbed the dagger that had fallen on the floor and cut off the man's tongue. blood splashed.
The man groaned, and the voice of him roaring in pain echoed around him. The villagers tightly closed their eyes at the brutal scene. However, without the slightest change in expression, Shireen cut off the man's tongue.
Then the tongue fell to the ground.
The man lowered his head. With a bewildered look on his face, he wept, and he struggled to stop the blood gushing out of his mouth with his palms.
"My name is Shireen Baratheon. If you don't like the punishment I gave them, then you can come look for me anytime."
In the world of weak meat and strong food, all karma is paid with blood.
