章 94: Chapter 94

South of the Land of Fire, on the battlefield where Konoha faced off against the Mist Shinobi, young Terumi Mei witnessed an unforgettable scene.

Amid the battlefield, a lone figure stood amidst the inferno, gripping a sword that had been transformed into a conduit of destruction. The blade, now a searing ember, incinerated everything it touched with ruthless efficiency. The ground around him was a sea of flames, an unyielding proof of the destruction he had brought.

Nearby, six of the seven famed swords of the Mist Shinobi lay embedded in the scorched earth, their once-proud blades now twisted and blackened by the relentless heat. Their wielders had been reduced to nothing more than ashes, their formidable presence utterly vanquished by the man's fiery onslaught.

Within mere moments, the status of the war shifted. It could be described as one person defeating the seven Ninja Swordsmen, with six of them obliterated.

Tatsuya's eyes shifted slightly, and Terumi Mei staggered, falling to the ground. "Monster—"

Not just the Terumi Mei, even the Konoha Shinobi shared that sentiment. Nevertheless, the hearts of the hundreds of Konoha Shinobi present were more jubilant than anxious. After all, this man was on their side, akin to the rebirth of the First Hokage. They needn't fear another tragedy like the Mist Shinobi's invasion of the Konoha, right?

The Shimura and Sarutobi clans, however, weren't so pleased. They understood this well; Hatake Tatsuya and their clan leaders had never seen eye to eye. Despite residing in the same village, they maintained a hostile relationship.

Their enemy has become too strong, but could they truly be happy? The faces of the elders were as grim as coal.

"Dispose of the remaining Mist Shinobi army; I will save Rin," Tatsuya ordered.

"Uh, uh... yes, Master Tatsuya," Nara Shikaku responded reflexively.

Tatsuya's figure flickered and vanished as if he had never been there from the beginning.

...

...

"Damn it, what happening back there?" Ringo, carrying Rin on his shoulder, looked back periodically. The colossal flame that once appeared to consume the entire sky had finally receded, yet it did nothing to soothe her restless mind. Her sense of impending danger continued to intensify.

"Finally, I need to return this test subject to the village. But why does it have to be a Konoha girl?" Ringo complained while looking at Rin who was still in a state of lethargy.

The Seven Ninja Swordsmen had been given a direct order by the Third Mizukage to seize this particular young girl who was alongside Hatake Tatsuya. She was to become the test subject for the Three-Tails Jinchūriki.

This order left the Seven Ninja Swordsmen puzzled. Why Nohara Rin? She didn't seem to hail from a bloodline-limit clan with inherent abilities. Why choose her when there were other talented shinobi in the village?

However, the Third Mizukage had promised a substantial, one-on-one reward for this mission. Additionally, Mist Shinobi trained their ninja as tools.

Hence, the Seven Ninja Swordsmen followed orders without questioning the reason. As Ringo hastened back to the Land of Water, she remained oblivious to the figures moving stealthily beneath the ground beneath his feet, trailing closely behind.

White Zetsu asked Black Zetsu next to him: "Should we capture that girl named Lin right now?"

"It's not Lin; it's Rin~"

Black Zetsu explained the situation and then added, "That wouldn't be advisable. After all, that girl's role is merely to pull Obito into darkness. We have to make sure that Obitio hates the shinobi world. If she were to spot us, it could lead to complications that would be difficult to handle later."

During the conversation, Black Zetsu's demeanor changed subtly as he issued a warning. "We need to move to a lower depth. This position is compromised."

He had previously detected Tatsuya's advanced sensory abilities and knew that simply hiding underground wouldn't completely shield them from being detected.

...

...

Above the ground, Ringo instinctively sensed a looming threat to her life from behind.

Without much thought, her body instinctively shifted to the left.

Puff—!

Even so, a half-fireball-sized semicircular explosion erupted on her shoulder, causing severe damage. Almost her entire lung felt like it had been blown out, and the intense pain sent Ringo crashing to the ground. Rin, who had been unconscious on her shoulder, was propelled into the air.

However, before Rin could touch the ground, an arm reached out and caught her safely.

"Ahh!!!"

Ringo leaned against a large tree, attempting to cover the gaping wound on her shoulder with both hands, but the pain was unbearable.

Tatsuya, holding Rin in his left arm, observed the woman before him, known as "The only woman to wield the Seven Ninja Swords." A trace of surprise flickered across his face. After all, this woman had been killed by a disease in the future. He had also defeated all of the seven Ninja swordsmen including Kisame's sensei. Even though she hadn't completely avoided Tatsuya's detection, she had still sensed his attack. Tatsuya was almost inclined to give her an award.

"Hmm..."

Rin, in Tatsuya's embrace, groaned in pain and slowly opened her eyes. She saw the disheveled Ringo in front of her and Tatsuya, who held her with one arm.

"Master Tatsuya, what happened?"

She only remembered being defeated by Mist Shinobi, a girl with long burgundy hair her age, and then... she seemed to have lost consciousness.

"Well, with such a narrow escape, I seized the opportunity to capture you," Tatsuya said with a smirk. "It seems I've found myself in a bit of a bind. I'm afraid I can't just leave you behind now. Looks like we'll be spending more time together—perhaps even in the bathroom."

He glanced at Rin with a mixture of amusement and exasperation. Honestly, it's no wonder that in nearly every Naruto fanfic, you can't survive the Third Ninja War. It's genuinely a challenge to save you when you keep finding yourself in these situations.

Rin's cheeks flushed a deep red as she struggled to grasp the full meaning of Tatsuya's words. The idea of "using the bathroom together" completely baffled her. She blinked, her mind racing to make sense of what he was suggesting. "W-What are you talking about? I'm a girl, for Kami's sake!"

Tatsuya chuckled softly, enjoying the reaction. "Just teasing you, Rin. But seriously, we should find a way to get out of this situation."
