章 414: Chapter 414: The Little Wife of the Overbearing President

###

Zhu Xijun wore a long white dress with suspenders. The upper part was plain white, while the hem featured delicate orchid prints, creating a look that was both simple and elegant, yet youthful. She wore flat sandals that complemented her petite frame, standing about 165 cm tall. In contrast, Andy towered over her at 190 cm, making her seem even smaller beside him.

The two arrived at Qingshui Temple. Zhu Xijun explained that the temple was dedicated to Chen Zhaoying, a historical figure from the late Song Dynasty who had later become the temple's patron. Chen had retreated to Fujian and was venerated as the Qingshui Patriarch.

As they left the temple, Zhu Xijun continued, "Penang is quite festive. We celebrate various holidays here. For instance, the Han Chinese observe the Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, while Christians celebrate Christmas and Good Friday. Buddhists mark Vesak Day, which commemorates the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and passing."

"Additionally, Malays celebrate Hari festivals and Eid al-Fitr, and Indians observe Deepavali. It can be quite a lively mix of celebrations."

Andy nodded, "Freedom of belief is a good thing."

Zhu Xijun smiled.

"It's noon. Would you like me to take you to try some of Penang's local snacks? I'm curious to see if you'll enjoy them," Zhu Xijun offered.

"Sure, I'd like to experience the local flavors," Andy agreed.

They went to a local restaurant where Zhu Xijun ordered a variety of dishes after chatting with the owner in Hokkien. The menu included satay, Teochew cendol, braised pork, and Penang prawn noodles.

"What are these dishes?" Andy asked.

"You're a big guy, so you should have no trouble with the portions. Satay consists of skewers, braised pork is a platter of slow-cooked pork, and Penang prawn noodles are particularly delicious. Teochew cendol is a sweet treat made with green noodles, red beans, and coconut milk," Zhu Xijun explained.

Andy tasted the food and nodded in approval, "It's really good."

Seeing Andy enjoy the food, Zhu Xijun's eyes lit up with a smile. "Teochew cendol is my favorite. This place has been serving it for decades and is known for its authenticity."

After their meal, they went to pay the bill. Andy realized he had forgotten his wallet and was about to call his bodyguard for help when Zhu Xijun stepped in.

"I invited you out today, so I'll cover the bill," she said, pulling out a small wallet and paying for their meal.

Andy was touched, as it was the first time a girl had treated him. The gesture felt sweeter than the cendol.

"Next time, it's on me," Andy promised.

"Alright," Zhu Xijun agreed with a smile.

In the afternoon, they strolled through the commercial street of Penang. The street was lined with small buildings and a mix of American, Hong Kong, and Japanese goods, though Zhu Xijun noted that the quality of the shopping areas could be improved.

"Governor Hardy has plans to develop Penang, including expanding the city and building a central business district. It sounds like an exciting future," Andy said.

After spending a few more days together, Andy invited Zhu Xijun to join him on Hardy's yacht. She marveled at the luxury of the yacht and expressed her amazement at its cost.

On the fourth day, as they walked along the seaside promenade, a car sped by, causing Andy to instinctively pull Zhu Xijun close. She stumbled into his arms, and they locked eyes. The moment felt suspended in time.

Andy broke the silence, "Xijun, are you considering studying in the United States?"

Zhu Xijun was taken aback by the question.

When Andy returned to the Governor's Mansion, Hardy inquired about his plans.

"I think I'll head back soon," Andy replied.

Hardy was surprised but understood that Andy needed to manage his time carefully. He smiled and said, "Take your time. It's up to you."

---

As Zhu Xijun returned home, her family was eager to hear about her time with Andy. They were pleased with the prospect of a relationship or even just a friendship with someone as influential as Andy.

Zhu Xijun shared that Andy had suggested she study in the United States, which her father, Zhu Yunquan, fully supported. He believed that studying abroad would broaden her horizons and saw it as a valuable opportunity.

Soon, Andy and Zhu Xijun parted ways, each heading towards new chapters in their lives, with the promise of future stories yet to unfold.
