Cole found winter sitting beside the pool, her feet barely in the water, her tears falling from her face into the water.
Never had he ever seen her cry, her skin was as though as nails and words couldn't break her. Hence, Cole knew that something had happened, something truly gruesome.
Winter felt the piercing gaze directed at her, she looked over her shoulder, all puffy eyed. Cole's heart went out to her, and so did his feet.
"Are you okay?." He found himself asking, biting his cheek at the lack of comforting words.
"How can I be?. When everyone keeps avoiding the elephant in the room." Winter replied in a harsh tone, her cold eyes boring a hole in Cole's forehead.
"You know that am working my ass off trying to keep you safe. Trust me when I say that everyone is safe." Cole said in a calm voice, taking both her hands in his.
But the restlessness on winter's face hinted that she wouldn't be taking any bullshit from him.
