At first, Damon thought Nessa was vexing Odele on purpose due to jealousy, but he came to understand it wasn't just jealousy anymore, but her pride.

Damon knew how much these over-pampered socialites tend to look down on ordinary people. But then, Nessa was not an ordinary person, by the reason of being his girlfriend, her status was elevated already. He would have interfered, but this was Nessa's battle and all he could do was to help her.
