章 2: [2] the Dragon Heads

"Jia" Jinx pulled her away, "listen, my dad said that he needs to have a meeting with us.. yours will be there as well"

She bit her lip, "what is it about?"

"I dunno, my guess is that it's about our expulsion and.. something else?" she shrugged.

She put the gun in her jacket pocket and sighed, "also Jericho is dense but he's not stupid.. him and Hart are like brothers—they have big mouths like we do, if I know that, you should too"

"That was a long time ago" Jia retorted, "there are more important things to deal with"

'The clan comes first.'

The sound of car wheels coming to a stop made the two turn their heads—

—"get in!" Jericho shouted as he opened the passenger door.

The two sighed and walked to the jet black limo parked on the sidewalk.

Right as they got in, Jia began going over some events that seemed odd.

The East Triad (the Yen Clan) had been attempting to keep their works in the dark, however unwanted contact had found them either way.

Her father even wore a mask to ensure his identity would be hidden—especially if he was dealing with underground business.

His public image would not be questioned, for in the beginning of his career he went by the name "Chian Shui."

Watching his daytime persona was bizarre growing up, and at times they contrasted like day and night.

Jia had been overhearing members talk about a rumour regarding their Triad—rumours that circulated in most of the smaller gangs.

The pieces fell into place as the incident from earlier came into mind.

'If rumours are spreading..' she thought, 'then more people may want to attack us in the future...'

Most organizations big or small loathed the Yen Clan.

Guilt sunk into her chest as she thought about her and Jinx being the cause of Hart's incident; with their expulsion for fighting, she suspected it may have lead to the attraction of more provoked organization members—the four boys she and Jinx fought could've been tied to another group.

Being in a big triad meant a lot of death threats and random attacks, but it would pose a problem if they were getting frequent.

'I should talk to father about this..'

The situation didn't just endanger her triad members, this would especially endanger herself and Jinx.

While the public and other groups didn't realize their identities, if someone happened to figure out that multimillionaire Chian Shui's daughter was the Red Reaper of the Yen Clan, organizations everywhere would be head hunting for a chance to get ransom money—the same problem would occur with Jinx.

'I hope it doesn't come to that..' she thought.

She sighed in relief, grateful that Chian's limelight wasn't shed on her, the girl was famous for another reason anyway.

The satisfaction of being known and feared by most groups was enough for her—if she didn't have that side of herself, she wouldn't be heiress at all.

Coming out of her daze, she noticed the limo drive past the black gates and stop at the entrance, leaving the three to exit and travel up the staircase that lead to estate doors.

Waiting for them at the top of the steps was Jia's father, and Jinx's.

The girl smiled as a thought occurred to her, the secret they have would be baffling to the public.

Though, only trustworthy members knew about it, and if the secret got out, Jia figured that the estate would become a slaughterhouse from Chian trying to figure out who the rat was.

Her fathers fury was worse than most would think.

Eventually, Jia and Jinx made it to the top and bowed in respect of the two.

Jericho stood near the group, waiting.

Chian was wearing a black collared long sleeve pushed back to his elbows, and a navy blue waistcoat overtop that matched his pants and shoes.

"Welcome back" he greeted.

Kaien (Jinx's father) held his arms out—the two girls immediately came up for a hug.

The faint scent Kaien had, the smell of tobacco and jasmine gave Jia nostalgia whenever he hugged them. The scent was one of the many familiar ones that connected to memories of her childhood.

He wore an ink coloured kimono and traditional Japanese slippers, his long black hair was gently resting on his shoulders.

Kaien raised an eyebrow, eyeing the baseball bat that was being held, "Jia, there's blood on your bat again, did you encounter yet another fight?"

The girl smirked against the fabric of his clothes, "wasn't much of a fight once the wuss saw my tattoo.."

"Except she didn't kill the idiot" Jinx snapped, "I would've but she let him go"

"Sparing someone?" Kaien mused, "now that would be a first"

'Weeeelllll... he's probably dead by now,' Jia thought with a subtle grin.

The girl separated and hugged her father, "can you get someone to clean the blood off my bat... please?" she asked with doe-eyes.

Chian gave his daughter a quick kiss on the forehead, "patience, Jiana" he urged.

After, the man gestured the two to go inside, "the earlier the better, there is much to discuss"

"Ah" Kaien uttered abruptly, "leave your weapon outside, blood on the floor is distasteful"

Jia complied and dropped her bat on the ground before following the others.

They were lead by Dragon Heads to the left grand staircase and into a room with two white doors opened prior—Chian's study.

Jia's father sat down at his usual seat behind the large oak desk littered with papers and ashes from cigarettes—Kaien stood beside him.

His study was filled with paintings, bookshelves that contained various items ranging from literature, to figurines, to photo books.

The room itself was white, and the floor was a velvet crimson red.

The girls walked and in sat on two seats placed in front of Chian's desk.

"Jericho" his penetrating voice called.

Jia turned her head towards the doors and realized that her best friend oddly hadn't taken a step inside, 'father's even acting formal.. strange'.

"Yes master Chian?" Jericho monotonously answered.

"You are dismissed" he ordered, "leave the study"

"Understood sir" he then bowed and shut the two doors behind him.

Jia furrowed her eyebrows as she exchanged looks with Jinx, 'if Jericho can't be in the room...'

"We're fucked" Jinx whispered under her breath.

"okay" Jia rubbed her neck, "what do you need to tell us?"

Chian cleared his throat and met her curious stare, "firstly" he began, "both of you need to refrain from getting into public fights, we have told you both countless times to be discreet, you risk exposing yourselves to impulsive thugs—in fact, your behavior suggests you are an impulsive thug, and that is unacceptable for a girl who is in a much higher position than a thug, Jiana"

The girl rolled her eyes and mentally prepared herself for a very long pep talk.

Her father sighed, "secondly, we are all aware that this has been the third school you both have been expelled from in two months.." he suddenly put on his business smile, "so we have come to a conclusion and are sending you to one last high school"

Kaien eyed the two, "should you get expelled from this school, you both will suffer a severe punishment"

Jia gulped, though his voice was soft like usual, his expression told her that whatever this punishment was, he was entirely serious about it; Chian agreed as he took out a cigarette from a pack he had in the desk drawer.

The girl clenched her fist, 'this is ridiculous.'

"For gods sake" Jinx retorted, "it's not our fault! in the private schools you make us attend, there are glorified monkeys who have the guts to bully us—all we did was put them in their place"

"Jinx!" Kaien snapped, Jia jolted at the sudden change of tone, 'I forgot how scary he can be,' she thought.

His voice was sharper than a blade.

For a moment he closed his eyes and rubbed his temple, "while that is the correct mindset, this time you both took it too far"

'Well.. we did put one of them in a coma..'

The first two fights had only ended with their opponents unconscious; the boys they had encountered aggravated them far more than others had.

Jia narrowed her eyes, "now what, another private school?"

Chian leaned back in his leather chair and lit the cigarette in his mouth with a lighter, a puff of smoke came out as he exhaled, "this time" he said, "you will be attending public school"
