章 55: Do you know how dark this world is?

---Aisa's pov---

"What do you think? Pathetic, right~?" Eleus mocked in amusement, and I couldn't help but agree with her. She was right, he was pathetic. Butch was pathetic... he cried on the ground, he only had his legs and hands broken... and it was just a little crack. But he cried, so pathetic...

Big Brother took a bullet to the chest and nearly had his arm cut off... but he didn't even have a tear in his eyes or even show he was in pain. So, Butch is pathetic.

I concluded and looked at Eleis, the sliver-haired woman, blankly.

I didn't know what to think of her. She had the name Eyrluna... Eyrluna, the name most precious to Big Brother, is something that caused Big Brother to kill. Yet she has it? Will Big Brother kill her if he finds out about this?

I honestly wondered about it, but at the same time, I grew curious about her. She came from nowhere and was very strong. She could be a blessed one, but I doubt it.

"Oh~ little Aisa~ Isn't that expression a little too cold for you?" She called out, and her face was right in front of me.

I jerked and stepped back, not even noticing her move right in front of me... "Well, your shocked face is cute~" she sweetly said, making me bite my lips out of frustration.

She was just too mysterious and open... I can't get used to it. She is like Big Brother but more attentive to everything I do and more talkative... she is annoying.

"I-"

BBOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

An explosion rang out, making me stop what I was about to say and look towards the city wall. Unfortunately, I was in an alley and my view was blocked.

I rushed out and looked at a massive cloud of smoke outside the city with green mist spreading out. I could tell what was going on outside the city, and that explosion wasn't helping.

"Yoink~"

I got pulled back by Eleis...

"Let's go, the event has already started," she whispered and walked in the opposite direction of the city gate.

"Wait, but the-"

"I know," I got cut off mid-sentence, "The monster tide is just one part of the event. There are some real dark ones as well, and we are going to complete them," she announced, making me hesitate to follow her. "Come on, hurry up~" she called as she walked into another alley.

I wanted to go outside the city, but... Eleis was someone very strong, and I doubted she would let me go. So, I followed.

She kept going through alleys, appearing on one of the main streets and then back into alleys. I kept following her. Then we came to a small street that was empty but had one shop... and it was open.

It was just a 1 meter by 1 meter shop, a very small shop. Eleis stopped right in front of it. I followed and stood behind her a little to the right so I could see.

There was an old man inside, he was bald, with no hair and just wrinkles. "Hohoho, what may I do for just a beauti- AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

The man screamed in pain and fell out of the shop. Eleis stepped to the side, letting the man fall headfirst.

My heart raced as I looked at the unmoving old man, who was bleeding from his head. He was dead. I looked at Eleis. "How did you do that...?" I wanted to know how I could kill like that... if I could learn that, then I wouldn't need to get my clothes and hands dirty.

"Hehehe~ Maybe if you give me a small kiss, I will teach you~!" Eleis winked at me, making me grumble a bit, but I decided not to reply to that.

Eleis shrugged, kicked the old man away, and tossed a small fireball at the small shop... that wasn't even a shop. It only had 3 rocks, each with a price tag of 100 gold and more. What a clear scam.

The fireball Eleis tossed landed.

WHOOSS!!!

And instantly the shop was burnt away... I didn't even feel the heat. It was too fast... even the dead, old, bald, hairless man was gone, turned to ashes.

The fire cleared and revealed what was behind it. It was an entrance that went down; there were stairs as well that looked disgusting and moldy. Then the smell came, absolutely disgusting.

My nose scrunched up, and I took a few steps back. "Aisa," Eleis called, making me look at her, "Catch." She threw something, and I caught it and looked at it.

It was just a simple black medical mask.

I looked at the mask skeptically, but the disgusting smell wafted to my nose, and I immediately put the mask on. It was surprisingly comfortable and unnoticeable. I didn't feel my breathing being blocked in any way.

"Come here," Eleis seriously ordered, and I felt a chill run down my back, hearing her order. I walked up to her subconsciously. It was as if Big Brother had just commanded me... and for a brief moment, I saw Eleis's figure be replaced by Big Brother's younger version... the 14-year-old version of Big Brother...

"Do you know how dark this world is?" she asked as she leaned into my face.

"No," I answered... I felt obligated to answer there, and again her figure overlapped with my Big Brother, the same 14-year-old version of him.

"Then you will learn it now," Big broth- No... Eleis declared and walked to the stairs, "Come here," she ordered, and my body moved with my mind telling it to do so.

I looked down the stairs and where it led to. I could see some light down there, and I felt something was off. I peeked at Eleis, and again her figure overlapped with Big Brother's 14-year-old version.

"Go," she ordered, and I took a step down. A squishing sound came, and my spine tingled in disgust. I could feel the mossy and dirty stairs on my feet, even though I was wearing boots. I took a deep breath and brought my other leg to the stairs, and again I felt the disgusting squishing sensation.

I took a long, deep breath and started to walk down the stairs, reaching the very bottom in just a few steps. I looked behind, and Eleis was right there, right behind me.

I looked forward, and it was a little dark, but there was a torch there that brightened up the place. I looked around for a bit, and there was nothing here, just a narrow hallway of some disgusting kind. It was barely 2 meters wide and about 3 meters tall.

The floor was covered in disgusting things, blood, some pieces of flesh, and... white liquid.

I walked ahead, ignoring everything disgusting as much as possible, and reached near the end where I felt Eleis grab my shoulder.

Eleis walked in front of me and turned the corner that was hidden. I looked at the torch on the wall, which had cast a shadow that hid the turn, and frowned.

I followed Eleis, but before I turned the corner, Eleis grabbed my hand and looked me straight in the eyes.

I stared into her gray eyes that were deadly serious, and my heart started to beat wildly. I felt a bit of fear but also admiration. She was strong, and I admired her for that. She was also beautiful and... she carried that name... the name that Big Brother cherished the most, Eyrluna, the name that Big Brother would kill for.

"Are you ready?" she asked, and I could only look into her gray gem eyes in silence. I didn't know what I needed to be ready for, but I knew for sure that whatever she showed me would change how I viewed life.

"Are. You. Ready?" Eleis asked again, and this time her voice was neutral and slow. Feeling the seriousness, I nodded and prepared myself for anything.

She let go of me, stepped back, and gestured for me to step forward, which I did while keeping eye contact with Eleis. I stepped into the turn and stared at Eleis's uncovered face, waiting for her signal to look. I knew I didn't have to, but even so... this was something I did with my Big Brother... I needed his permission to look at something important, and I could see his figure overlap with Eleis... So, i obeyed and waited.

"You may look," she gave her permission, and I turned. My body froze instantly at the sight I saw. My breathing shortened, my stomach became upset, and my heart rate spiked.
