章 110: Kitty heist.
-Black Cat POV-
"What the hell are you doing here?" I hissed at him and he answers defensively "I am trying to make sure you survive the heist" I close my eyes to stop myself from hurling across the steel rafters to gnaw at his throat for looking down on me.
I hiss at him angrily "I have survived heists worse than this" I jump down from the rafters to get the gem and leave but I feel a hand curl around my leg and stop me from descending. I look up to find my father holding me with all his strength.
My face morphs into disgust as I yell at him as silently as I can "What the hell are you doing old man?" His face was taut in tension as he wheezes with great effort "Lasers" my eyes widen as I look down in alarm but I find nothing.
I look around at the walls and find a few placed strategically near black curtains to hide them from the naked eyes. They weren't mentioned in the security plans. Father finally pulls me back onto the rafters as he says "The quack sold you the old museum security plans, they changed it up ever since that gem has been placed here"
I look down in shame to hide my face from him "It's not like you never made mistakes" I say to hide my incompetence but He placed his hand on my shoulder as he consoled me "I did make mistakes. That's what took me away from you for all these years" I look up to find him smiling depreciatingly with unshed tears in his eyes.
I look away to hide my own tears as he asked me sincerely "Let me help you, kitten" I wipe my eyes as I nod at him. We look down from the rafters and count the no of lasers just like we used to do when I was 7. He took the first 18 and I took the other 12, between me and him we got it down in a minute.
As we were about to jump down to get the gem we heard a commotion from outside. Father quickly jumped down and closed the door into the room for the gem stone. The gaurds started banging the door yelling "Open the damn door, we know who you are and we know you are in there" I panic as I jump down and ask him "How did they find out?"
Father points towards an airvent as he says "They probably have the kids you go through the vent and save them, I'll hold their attention here" I point at the gem as I ask him "What about the gem?" He pushes me towards the vents as he says "Don't worry I'll get it and meet you outside" I nod and slide through the vent before crawling towards the vent opening in the security room according to my mind map.
I kick open the vent and find the both of them trying to break the zip ties on their wrists with the edge of a desk as a security guard layed unconscious beside them. I immediately break their zip ties with my claws before lifting bang up and pushing him into the air vent. I do the same with Susan and get in myself just in time for 4 guards to enter the room while asking "Hey, Marcus did you call the cops ye--- wait what happened to him? where are the kids?"
I grin and turn to the kids as I tell them "Change of plans, I'll go get my father out of that place, cause he can't fit in these vents while you two go left, left, second right, third left in these vents to get on the roof. I will come and collect you there" they nod and I crawl back towards the gem room and find father trying to break the wall which goes outside with a hammer. I yell at him "That wouldn't work, the walls are too thick and the police are on their way".
He turns to me and grins as he yells back "I got a piece of dinamite here to blow this wall off, it will make a good distraction for your escape" he takes out the gem from his pocket and throws it to me "You take it, just in case I'm caught" I shake my head as I yell out "No I'll stay with you" he stops hammering as he laughs mirthlessly "I don't care for jail time kitten, I'll escape either way"
I bite my lip and yell out to him "I'm coming back for you no matter what" he just gives me a thumbs up before getting back to hammering away at the wall. I turn back and crawl out of the vents onto the roof.
The kids were looking off the roof at the police cars that were approaching, I make Susan get on my back and run off the museum on to a roof before going back for Bang. We all run away as far from the museum as possible before I call Spidey "Yes I got it, come to ***** *** ****** street right now" I wait with the kids for Spidey to come.
I ponder upon my situation. I know that father is good at escaping but sometimes my heart can't help but beat faster than it should. It has been a problem since that faithful day. I clutch at my heart to stop it but the voices come out and I am once again taken back to that day.
-10 years ago-
"But mama, you said dad would be here for my birthday" Mom looked at me with a sad smile as she consoled me "Don't worry sweety, he is just a little late" She looked up at the time angrily wondering why it was taking so long for her husband to finish the job.
She tried to distract her daughter by playing with her but the sound of sirens made her understand what is about to happen so she looked at her daughter seriously "listen kitten, some bad men will ask you questions about your father and you have to stay silent okay"
Felicia nodded at her mom, eager to follow her orders but after the door was kicked open by police and she was seperated from her mother as mom screamed at the police "What the hell are you doing, she is underage, you can't interrogate her without me being present" but they ignored mama's screams and took Felicia to another room.
Felicia held her cat plushie close to her as she was sat down on a chair infront of a mirror as a man whose face she couldn't remember was asking her "Your father, what does he do?" Felicia held her cat plushie closer as she told them "He works in a ban..." But a slam on the table made her tear up as the man started to shout at her "We already damn well know what your father is so don't lie" another mancame into the room whose face she couldn't remember.
That man tried to calm the angry man "Stop screaming at the child, she is what? 6. She probably doesn't know anything" The angry man grabs the calm man by his collar as he yells at him "Do you know what that bastard tried to steal? Every fucking higher up including the fucking president himself. Everyone wants him in dead. If we get his daughter to cough up some fucked up thing he did to his child, it will be a nail in his fucking coffin"
The calm man rubbed at his throat as he asked the angry man "What makes you think he did something to his own daughter?" The angry man pops a cigarette in his mouth as he says with confidence in his voice "Scum like him will do anything they think they can get away with" he turned to me and asked me "Hey kid, tell me something your father did to you?"
I didn't know what they were talking about back then so I shook my head at them "Mom said not to tell you anything" the calm man and the angry man exchanged a look as their faces morphed into anger before turning sad as they gazed at Felicia.
The angry man ran out of the room as the calm man came forward and kneeled before her as he gently assured her "Do not be afraid, you can tell us what your father did" Felicia shook her head and the calm man sighed as he pressed a button which made the mirror turn transparent as she saw her father tied up to the rafters feet up with blood dripping down his head.
The angry man entered the other room and started punching her father in the stomach, she screamed at the calm man "Please make him stop, he is hurting daddy" but the calm man kept trying to assure her "Don't worry, he can't hurt you anymore" Felicia shook her head "No, he never hurt me" the calm man kept repeating while ignoring her "He can't hurt you, just tell us what he did"
Hear heart started beating more and more as her father was being beaten to death she looked at the calm man who was still asking her about what her father did to her, she let go of the cat plushie and held her heart as she watched her father coughing out blood.
She finally looked at the calm man and screamed at him "I will tell, please ask him to stop" The calm man immediately went away and talked into a mic "Hey, get here, she is going to talk" the angry man immediately stopped and they both asked her once again "you are safe here kid, what did he do to you?"
With tears in her eyes Felicia told the both of them "he takes me to museums and art galleries and tells me how to get in without alerting anyone" both men looked at her surprised at that but she continues with tears in her eyes "He teaches me how to dismantle camera's and how to trip people without them knowing about it" "He takes me to amusement parks without tickets" "He teaches me how to cook" "He teaches me how to shop without money" "He also..." "He taught me to..." "He helped me make..."
Like that she went on and on about everything she did with her father, hoping to god that they would let her father go if they got what they wanted but as she was struggling to find anything else she did with her father the angry man asked her to stop and turned to the calm man "Bastard probably hasn't done anything to get" the calm man asked him doubtfully "How are you sure?" The angry man looked at the calm man like an idiot as he yelled at him "Have you heard anything she said, he is just like any other father"
The angry man held his head and muttered to himself "Fuck that guy but his daughter needs him, god does she need him" the calm man asked the angry man "What about all the higher ups who want him dead?" The angry man shrugged as he said "He will get a fair trial is all I am allowing, nothing else, he can still get life but he'll get out if he behaves right"
The calm man asked once again afraid for his job "What about her mother? She would file a case on us for interrogating her child without her concent" the angry man threw the cigarette aside as he told her "She wouldn't if she wants her daughter to stay with her"
Felicia didn't know what happened then. But she does know now, she saved her father from his bad fate but lost him on the same day. That sense of loss was making her heart beat out of her chest because she might lose him again. She opens her eyes once her heart beat subsides and looks at the children who were looking worried.
Felicia assured them, concern evident in her voice "It's fine you brats, he came back from worse things in a single piece" Susan shook her head as she told felicia "It's not him we are worried about" Felicia frowned as she asked the kids "Who else are you worried about?"
They were about to talk but both their faces turned ashen as they looked behind Felicia with fear. She turned back just in time to see Spidey looking at her with a slight tilt to his head that felt ominous. Spidey asked her with clear anger in his voice "What are the kids doing here?".
