章 16: Magic

"Huh?"
Earth magic?
"Yeah you Know earth magic"
I turned my neck to looks at him and cocked my head showing my confusion.
"The ground here is really hard, without earth magic you would hav broken your nose"
I stared at him blankly while processing the thought, he was right the ground here was really hard I'd wager it has a high salt content so how did I dive through it?
"I told you, earth magic"
Earth magic, I used magic? There's magic in this world? I suppose I am a magical beast now so what other kinds of magic can I use? So white and I began talking about magic, here's a summarised list of the important parts.
First only magical beasts can use magic with the only exception being elf and some rare beast kin, other species such as normal animals humans most beast kin and demon beasts can not use magic.
second all magical beasts have a catalyst which allows them to use magic a catalyst is like a water wheal but for mana it turns magic particles into mana which is used to cast magic.
third humans and beast kin hunt magical beasts and take their catalyst to use it themselves since they are incapable or using magic without one.
Fourth each catalyst has an element their are four main elements fire water earth and air magical beasts usually only have an affinity with one of the the four elements and a magical beast with affinity for two or more elements is called a magical beast variant, aside from the main four elements there are sub elements for example water has the sub element of ice the number of sub elements are unknown due to how rare they are and magical beasts with an affinity for a sub element is called a magical beast rare variant.
Earlier when I caught the wombat thing I used earth magic to push aside the ground which white said was strange because foxes usually have an affinity for fire not earth, then he told me to try fire magic at first I couldn't do anything but when I thought back to all the VRMMO's i'v played and manga i'v read I tried to locate my catalyst in the centre of my ribs then started to feel the mana flowing through my body like the blood in my veins and started to heat it up channeling it towards my mouth, then lit the inside of my bottom jaw on fire from the back of my throat forwards, the flames stayed inside my mouth and strangely didn't burn at all.
"Your a fire earth variant! Try water next"
I closed my mouth to put out the flames and started channeling my mana again a little different this time less aggressive and more calm and flowing then I spend my mouth and water started flowing out gently and started to pool around the wombat thing, aah my breakfast soggy meat.
"Try to dry it with air"
White was visibly happy he was shaking his tail so fast the rest of his body was moving with it, I snickered a little then took a large breath in and exhaled with mana in fused into my lungs and it worked the ones soggy wombat was now dry, pleased with myself leaned down ready to take a bite then.
"WAAAAAAAAH!!"
It startled me so much I jumped back and accidentally caught my face on fire, luckily fire does nothing to me or my fur would have burned off.
"RED YOU'RE SO COOL!! You're an all element variant! I was right to follow you!"
It was white I didn't know he could even be that loud and his yelling woke up blue who looked very upset and he angrily asked.
"What's a variant?"
White happily started explaining to blue everything he told me that would take awhile so I went back to eating, when white was done blue looked at me with a new sparkle in his eyes, I turned my head to look at them.
"What element are you white?"
"Oh I'm best at air magic but I can use a little fire magic too, so I'm and air fire variant"
We both looked at blue.
"Im not sure, I only learned of magic just then"
That's fair, white went through coaching blue to learn magic and as it turns out he's a water earth variant, their excitement came to a halt as their stomachs started to growl so much I felt it again my back, I laughed which surprised both of them and then started walking.
"Lets find some food"
I wanted to catch something with magic this time but I have no confidence in not starting a bush fire so I decided to set my body on fire which i must admit looks awesome as hell, only problem is I have to be careful not to burn blue and white since they refuse to leave my back, I charged at a group of horned rabbits that had normal colours and size this time and effectively body slammed them setting them on fire at the same time, barbecued rabbit isn't so bad.
By the time we were done eating it was sunset again so I put out the fire on my body and left some in my mouth for a little extra light and went back to the bent over tree and went back to the bent over tree to sleep.
