“That was quite an adventure,” Jensen spoke up after a few minutes of silence.
The three of them were now inside the elevator, on their way down the building. Milo chuckled at Jensen.
“It was, but I hate that the children were involved.”
“Yeah,” Milo agreed. “But that’s life. Sometimes, it’s a total shit show. Unfortunately, we can’t choose the kind of life we want.”
Neither of them exchanged a single word afterward. Kenta’s mood plummeted slightly as he thought about Cathy’s children, but Milo was right. Everything in life happened for a reason, and nobody got to select the path they wanted to travel on. They all had to deal with whatever life threw their way to the best of their abilities while hoping for the best possible outcome. That didn’t mean he had to like it. He continued to remain quiet all the way back to the penthouse because he wasn’t in the mood for any conversations at all. At least not for the time being. 10
