Jia was about to speak up when her phone rang, she sighed in relief, she did not know what to say to Chaeyoung at that moment and the call stepped in at the right time.
She looked at the caller ID, it was her mother.
She sighed knowing she was about to hear her continuous nagging.
"I'll take this call". She said and went upstairs.
She got to her room and sat in front of the dressing mirror before picking up the call, placing the phone on her ear.
"Have you arrived yet?". Her mom asked.
"Mmm". Came her curt reply.
"You see how she's living don't you?".
Jia jaw clenched knowing where the conversation was headed.
She knew she was about to face a huge comparison with Chaeyoung by her mother.
"Mom..". She called.
"No don't you dare call me Jia, can't you see how successful your cousin who you're two years older than has become, she's even about to get married to one of the Park's but look at you..".
She knew her mother had her signature disgust look on her face.
"Do you think your pretty face and ceaseless flirting is going to take you anywhere?, yes you're an event planner, but you've only had contracts after selling your body, shouldn't you be ashamed of yourself". Her mother spat ceaselessly.
Jia could not say a word, she knew her mother was right, it was just the bitter truth.
But it's never her fault, she had to do whatever it takes to be successful, she could not stand being compared to Chaeyoung every passing days.
"Do you think I wanted this too?". She half screamed as she had been patient enough with her mother's nagging.
"What did you say?".
"You heard me so f*cking well mom". She had finally lost it. "You think I wanted this too?, you think you're not also to be blamed for all these?, if only you had not cheated on dad with your damn boyfriend don't you think this sh*t would not be happening?". She paused, taking a deep breath before she continued.
"You call me a whore but don't you think I must have gotten that from you?". With that she ended the call without letting her mother speak.
She looked at her reflection on the mirror, her jaw clenched and fingers balled in a tight fist, her knuckles almost becoming white.
Her mother keeps comparing her to Chaeyoung who's father had left a company for before passing away while her had nothing.
If her mother had not cheated on her father who is the owner of a well known clothing factory with a middle class younger guy who was after his father's company, she wound not experience the type of criticism she was facing.
She would not have to sell her body to get a contract.
She stared intensely at her reflection, a storm brewing behind her furrowed brows.
If she will be continuously compared to Chaeyoung, she would have to take everything Chaeyoung has, just like she always did when they were younger.
Her jaw was set on a firm line, eyes marble hearted with resolve.
She was going to show her mother that she was a thousand time better than Chaeyoung.
She was going to let her know Chaeyoung was nothing compared to her.
Her eyes set in determination as a shadow of smile formed on both corners of her lips.

In a sleek conference room overlooking the city skyline.
Yoonjin stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his hands crossed behind him, taking the breathtaking view of the bustling city.
He wore a tailored suit and his hair was neatly geled back, lay bare his perfectly framed face.
He heard a soft knock on the door followed by the sound of it opening.
"Mr Smith is here". He heard the elegant voice of his assistant, Lucas.
He turned around to meet the gaze of Mr Smith, a man in his late 60s, who was slowly making his way towards him.
He smiled and did same, extending his hand in greeting.
"You're welcome Mr Smith, please do have a seat".
"Thank you for having me Mr Park, this is my assistant Lewis". He said, taking his sit across him.
"Good day sir". Lewis bowed as a light blush crept on her face, seeing Yoonjin up close for the first time. She had to admit he looked breathtaking.
"I'll take my leave sir". Lucas bowed, he motioned for Lewis to come with him which she did and they left the room.
"I was surprised when he called yesterday saying you have accepted my proposal, thank you for taking it into consideration". Mr Smith smiled.
"That reminds me, congratulations, I saw the news about your getting married".
Yoonjin nodded and smiled.
"Thank you". He paused and took out his phone from his pocket and sent a text message before putting it back in.
"We should start talking about what we're here for, shall we".
Mr Smith an American, the CEO of a well known and successful jewelry company, who other jewelry companies look up to.
He had always wanted to collaborate with Yoonjin's tech company but he was always being rejected, but still he kept trying.
He had always desire to integrate wearable technology into jewelry designs, creating smart jewelry products, and only Yoonjin's tech company could help him with that, being that the tech company was the most suitable and their resources were extremely good.
They delved into details concerning the proposal.
Yoonjin quietly listens intently as Mr Smith presents his case, while he asked few probing questions.
The air in the room was thick in anticipation as their conversation got to a scathing point in their discussion, but nevertheless they still came into an agreement.
The discussion came to an end as they had both finalized the deal. Standing up they sealed the deal with an handshake.
"Now that we're done with the deal, I have a personal request". Yoonjin said.
"Please take a sit". He said and Mr Smith did just so.
"As you know my wedding is coming up and I would love your team to design a ring for my fiancée".
Mr Smith was not expecting something like this but he smiled still since he was making a special and meaningful piece.
"It'll be an honor Mr Park, but if I may ask what is her taste like?".
Yoonjin placed his finger on his jaw, gently stroking it as he thought hard.
He doesn't have an idea what she like nor what she would like. He had not gotten to know her that well.
"Ummm, she's kind of complicated, but I believe your company expertise would be able to make something special for her".
Mr Smith nodded. "I understand Mr Park, women are sometimes complicated, take my wife for example".
They both laughed at the statement.
"Alright then I should take my leave". Mr Smith said standing up from the chair.
"I'll see you out".
