As soon as Ethan Herd heard, he felt something was wrong. He knew his mother very well. She was intentionally lowering her voice, as if she was afraid someone could hear her, clearly on guard against someone. "Mum, is something wrong? Who are you with?"
Mrs. Herd whispered, "Don't worry, darling, your mother won't do you any harm, I'm out shopping."
"Mum, tell me clearly, who are you shopping with? Were you going to invite me for lunch?"
"No, it's not me, someone else has invited."
Ethan Herd heard someone calling for Mrs. Herd over the phone.
"Madam, has the call gone through? Can Ethan make it?"
"Yes, he will come after work, my son, he always listens to me…"
Ethan frowned, "Mum, are you in some kind of trouble?"
A busy tone then came from the phone.
Scarlett Glenn saw Ethan Herd with the phone in his hand, frowning, his face not looking well, asking, "What's wrong?"
"There might be something going on with my mum."
"Should we go now?"
