"They'd be back soon" Freya scoffed, yet my fist tightened, "Mother, that bastard is yet to return with my fiancee!" I raised my voice.
I never wanted him to show her round the Kingdom but for father, I had to because I needed to leave a lasting impression.
Killan and I are sworn enemies and nothing can change that but father, he would tell me, "If you want to be a good king, you have to start being friends with your brother".
Father loves Killan so much and yeah, it sucks. "I won't have you raise your voice on me" my mother said.
"I hope you still remember why you're doing all of this?" Mother added and I sighed.
Yes I remember very well but then, how can I explain to my mother that I find this lady attractive? 'This is all beyond me' I thought.
I pocketed my hands in my trouser pocket as I left for my quaters. My eyes widened at what I saw, Killan with my fiancee on my back.
The girl that has unknowingly captured my heart, in that position with my enemy. My eyes darkened as I dashed towards them, "You were given only one hour" I started.
There wasn't any response whatsoever for about two minutes as I glared at him with hatred.
As I fumed in anger, Killan just glanced at me then proceeded to walk away with Poema now in his arms. Without thinking, I stood in his way, "Give her to me".
"Out of my way" he replied.
"Killan!" Mother yelled as she walked towards us. She shot him a death glare which he returned with a smirk.
Neither of them was willing to shift their gaze away from each other and it soon turned into a competition, a fierce one.
In Killan's arms was Poema lying somewhat unconscious. Her eyes were closed, maybe she's asleep but I really do not care. I don't need another man to take care of what's mine.
The glare between mother and Killan got more intense until she thankfully muttered something in her sleep which I didn't hear. "Poema.." my legs voluntarily dashed towards her. I pushed Killan's chest and he staggered backwards.
"Got you" I panted for breaths as I caught Poema in my arms. "P-prince" she mumbled tiredly. "Humph!" Mother signed then left.
My fist clenched as I gulped unknowingly, "Let's get you inside" I forced a smile then went into my chambers with her in my arms.
I laid her on the bed and I sat there for a while watching her closely. My hand brushed hers and for a second, I couldn't breath. How could someone be this beautiful?
"Mother.." I muttered as I remembered her instruction. "Don't fall in love with the commoner" I stood still at the thought of that.
All of this is just to win father's side so I'd be crowned King but..ever since I laid my eyes on her…
She's captured my heart, my heart races violently whenever I see her. I can't help but smile each time I see her smile, it's so insanely attractive.
Her, all of her is attractive- but there's Killan. The thought if him irritates me, that father loves and favours him so much is unbearably annoying.
I know that bastard is up to no good, his request to take her around the Kingdom must have a reason and that, I will find out soon.
My eyes closed as I prepared myself for sleep. I turned around to face Poema who laid on the bed peacefully and I chuckled.
Even if I have to go against mother just to be with this lady, I would. I finally closed my eyes ready to sleep when mother's words hit me again and I sighed, 'Guess tonight's gonna be a long night' I thought to myself.
Two days ago
I paced back and forth about the courtyard in the main Palace- father and mother's quarters. The place was designed beautifully, a mixture of both modern and acient items, with well crafted artifacts.
The courtyard was stocked with high class flowers of all kind which made the area more beautiful. The courtyard was carefully structured with the use of wooden materials.
My pace quickened, unsure if I could wait any longer. I had been anxiously waiting for him to summon me in for over thirty minutes now but still no sign of him or his guards.
The floor of the courtyard was covered with carpet grass, giving a fluffy texture. "I should go see him" I muttered then headed out of the courtyard.
I stopped when I heard voices coming from the Throne office. 'Father must be there!' I thought with so much certainty.
My pace quickened as I walked towards the room but stopped to eavesdrop on his conversation, "Tell me, who's the fairest in the Kingdom? One with abundant respect and regard?" father asked.
For a while, there wasn't any response, I gulped. 'What was father up to this time?' curiosity sets in.
"A maid, His Highness" an aged masculine voice replied.
"A maid?" Father asked, just the same question I asked myself. "Yes, His Highest" the voice stopped then continued almost immediately, "One of Prince Wilder's maid"
Before I could process the whole thing, father replied the man, "Get her, the day after tomorrow, Killan and she would get married. My time here is almost up, who knows, maybe when he gets married, he would change for the better".
A gasp left my mouth, and I staggered a bit. 'This can't be true!' I thought.
"Her name?" Father asked and I felt rage burn through me, "Poema" the man replied.
"This can't be!" I mumbled with a clenched fist. Father was being tremendously unreasonable.
How could he? I should be the King not Killan! Not that bastard! How come father loves him this much?
Even now, my fist remained clenched. However, the man didn't lie when he said she is the Kingdom's beauty.
I turned to face her and a smile crept through my face. She look much more beautiful and peaceful when asleep. I couldn't help but seat by her side on the bed.
"P-prince" she called and my heart fluttered at her voice and the thought that she was either thinking about me, or.."Killan" she added and my fist clenched.
