Evelyn woke up and got herself ready for the council as usual. Walking down the stairs, she heard servants whispering. She glanced around but they turned away doing their chores again. She frowned at their behaviour but like always she again brushed it off.
"Eve," Earl called her. If her uncle, Mr Wilkin or the lord were present, he would have never dropped the title before calling her.
She smiled at him and approached him. Her eyes were concerned seeing Earl in a tense condition. "What happened, Earl?" She asked.
"Did you check today's newspaper?" He asked. The words came out with a rush, indicating the urgency of the situation.
"No. Will see now. What happened?" She asked me to knit her brows.
He took out the newspaper and folded it, displaying the news which he wanted to show her and said, "See this."
Evelyn took the newspaper from his hand and saw the huge portrait of her father with the headline, 'WOLF HIDDEN IN SHEEP'S SKIN'.
