章 29: Freedom
"This should be the Scarlet King." a blonde-haired woman, called Lucy said while looking at the walls within the temple, which showed the painting of the past. A scarlet humanoid leading an army of dragons, towards an army of humans.
"He was known as the King Of Dragons." A scarlet-haired woman in silver armor said lightly while looking at her palm, which was burnt by the scarlet sword that had saved her. To reach this far into the temple wasn't easy, ignoring the traps, they had to combat Oración Seis, a battle that had left them badly injured. But the members of Oración Seis were only trying to slow them down, they managed to escape and regroup with their guild leader as soon as they did so.
While many of their members were left behind, and badly injured, Oración Seis on the other hand was fully together although injured. There was a total of 14 people that had joined them, and now only 7 people remained, not counting the 2 cats.
"King Of Dragons?" A pink-haired young man asked with a raised eyebrow while looking at the images. This was Natsu, son of Igneel the fire dragon. Sadly his father up and disappeared long ago.
"Do you think he knows where Igneel is?" A flying blue cat asked, which caught not only the interest of Natsu but also the blue-haired loli. She was also the daughter of a dragon, and like Natsu, her mother up and disappeared, she also had a cat, but her cat was a white female cat, which was currently walking along her side.
"He is like 400 years old, how would he know?" Natsu asked with crossed arms,
"Stay focused, we don't want to fall into another trap." A bold monk said while looking around, fully on guard. There were 2 others with them, Hibiki, and Lyon. It was impressive that most members here were from the same guild, that being Fairy Tail.
"Who do you guys think drew this? No one was able to enter this place for the past 400 years." Hibiki said in confusion, making the bold monk speechless, but they paused when they came before a Lacrima, which had fused into the temple. It glowed, causing them to go on guard, but they relaxed seeing a hologram of a young man who looked extremely similar to Natsu appear. The only difference was that he had pinkish-red hair.
"I know what's like to have a family, what it's like to have everything you hold dear to you taken from you." The young man said while sitting down, looking at the image of 2 adults looking at their children playing.
"Natsu what are you doing? That's disgusting." The Black Hair kid said to the pink-haired kid playing with him, and hearing that name, all froze as they looked at the kid named Natsu, realizing he looked a lot like the Natsu who was with them.
They looked at Kid Natsu playing with his snot, trying to rub them on his twin brother who disgustingly ran away from him.
"Natsu Dragneel!" The kid's mother said speechlessly with a look of helplessness seeing her son's actions, but her husband just laughed at the sight before him. But the images suddenly took a turn as a dragon breath fell from the heavens, and they watched as the mother and father smiled warmly while looking at their son who was being pulled away by a shadow beast. They turned to dust, while the kid who was running from Natsu just moments ago, watched on in horror.
"That day I lost my family... they entrusted my little brother to me... and I failed him." The young man said while watching all of this happened. How his younger self soon came before his twin brother, tried to shield him, tried to fight the dragon, but in the end failed.
"With all of this, I built a strong hatred toward the dragon race... but someone saved me from my blind hatred." The young man said as the images changed, showing a beautiful red-haired woman who was holding a hand out towards him. She was shining bright, making her look like an angel.
"This woman... she became my world. I never saw myself as someone who would bend the knee and follow someone, but she was different. I never saw anyone with a soul so pure, I wanted to protect that soul. Not just her but the empire." The young man said with a gentle smile. The image of the empire being shown, how dragons and humans were truly living together, left the group stunned by the sight.
The images began moving forward at high speed, to a point that no one could even read them. It came to a slow at the beautiful red-haired being framed, being abandoned by the people she cared so much about, followed by the torture she went through to try and break her... but that part was fast forward, forcing those watching to look away.
"I failed her and my unborn child." He said lightly, while the image of the destroyed empire was shown, lifeless bodies all over the place.
"I failed everyone." He said lightly, the images being destroyed with a wave of my hands.
"I failed them... but I can still save this world. I the Scarlet King, have abandoned my name, and so much more. I'm now the Scarlet King, and I shall burn down this world, and rebuild this world without the darkness" He said while the scarlet armor covered him, and with the scarlet sword in his hands, which was another shock to everyone, the images disappeared.
"..." Everyone stood there, unmoving for some time. There were many questions they had, so they looked towards Natsu Dragneel, who was confused.
"Are you 400 years old?" Jura the bold monk asked with narrowed eyes,
"Not that I know off," Natsu said in confusion, trying to recall any information, but to no use. But everyone looked towards Erza Scarlet, who was looking at her palm. When the scarlet sword flew to her, she held it, and it had drunk her blood before it allowed her to use its power.
Everyone was uneasy and creeped out by the sight, but they kept moving forward. The Lacrima they came across was rare, that was the only one they came across. But as they neared the center of the place, they came across another Lacrima... but they soon paused when they saw the Oración Seis guild member standing at the core of the temple, with someone new.
"Jellal..." Erza Scarlet said in shock, but Jellal turned to look back at her in confusion, not remembering who the woman calling her was. But he held his head in pain, the memory of the past hitting him.
"Erza." He moaned through pain,
"He had lost his memory... well, you guys are too late. This seal was powerful, created by the gods themselves. But with us working together with those inside, we can break the seal with little trouble." Brain the leader of Oración Seis laughed as the temple began shaking, it was chaos as the place began falling apart.
But the falling rocks paused before hitting the ground, and slowly began to rise into the sky. Everyone was sent rocketing out of the temple, while the temple flew into the sky, forming a huge portal that stood tall.
Slowly, the head of a huge dragon greater than mountains poked its head out of the portal, For a moment, everyone was horrified at the sight of the dragon's head, but they relaxed seeing it was not a real head, but a huge construct made out of seemly stone.
As more of the dragon's body showed itself, the Scarlet King sitting upon a throne worthy of the King of Dragons appeared out from the portal. Its head looking straight ahead. But slowly, the head of the Scarlet King turned, looking down upon the ants below. Although its head held no eyes, and no skin to hide its sharp teeth, they felt its gaze. They felt the horror of the scarlet King. They knew fear.
The Dragon fell to the ground thanks to the gravity there. It took a moment to get back on its feet. All the while, the Scarlet King's eyes were fully on two people, and those two people felt it. It was weird, as they felt warmth from its gaze. But slowly, the Scarlet King looked away, looking up ahead in deep thought.
"Scarlet King, we of Oración Seis had worked hard to free you from your imprisonment, in hopes of joining you in your quest." Brain said while getting down to one knee, this caused the Scarlet King to look back towards him, and the members of Oración Seis.
Slowly, he got up while the dragon lowered its head, turning to face them, so he could walk off, and walk towards them. He looked at Brain for some time before ignoring him and walking past him while his size began to shrink.
"You're soul disgusts me." A demonic voice sounded, followed by Brain being swallowed in black flames. Brain instantly screamed in pain, the pain so great he couldn't even think of using his magical power. It was too great, he jumped all over the place, and rolled around, all while under the horrified gaze of everyone there.
Jura stepped forward, ready to combat him seeing he was walking towards them. The scarlet King now was in a human form, no longer looking like a demon. With a thought, Jura was knocked out, shocking everyone.
"What do you want?" Erza Scarlet said while summoning her new sword, the scarlet sword, and ready to combat the scarlet King. But she paused as she was answered with a hug, leaving her frozen for some time.
"I'm sorry... I failed you as a father." He said lightly, causing Erza Scarlet's stiff body to relax... she never knew the warmth from a father or mother... but she was hit with it, pure love that brought her to tears.

"How did you lose your eye?" I asked lightly, causing Erza Scarlet's tears to pause. I stepped back and lifted her chin lightly, and looked closely at her fake eye which had no tears. Which Erza Scarlet tried to hide. I stepped back for a moment, my black flames gathering from a portal that showed the past... that being a tower that was built using slaves. Amongst those slaves was Erza Scarlet, my eyes narrowed as everything sped up, I watched everything that she went through, ignoring Erza Scarlet's attempts to get me to forget the past.
"I'm really am a shitty father," I said lightly while looking at the scene of Jellal forcing Erza Scarlet to leave the tower, forcing her to never say a word about the tower or any of the likes, she was forced to abandon her friends, all while they grew up thinking she betrayed them. Something which left Erza Scarlet to need armor on at all times, as without it she felt like the same weak defenseless little girl she was back then in the tower.
"I'm sorry... I don't remember any of this." Jellal who had lost his memory said horror seeing what his younger self had done.
"You will," I said while turning to look at Jellal, my eyes burning with black flames. Erza Scarlet tried to stop me, knowing that Jellal had lost his memory. Before anything could happen, Jellal's eyes suddenly caught on flames. His pain screams filled the sky, as the pain he caused upon others came back, fueling the black flames which burnt him alive... but it wasn't injuring him.
"Stop it, you saw it. He was being controlled by Zeref!" Erza Scarlet yelled in horror as in the mirror, we all saw how Jellal was being mind controlled by Zeref. But to her words, I simply pulled her head away from Jellal, having her fully focus on me.
"It's alright... I had promised myself you would never feel pain remotely close to mine. I failed you once, I will burn away everything that could hurt you. You would never know pain." I said with a gentle smile,
"I didn't ask for that," Erza Scarlet said pushing me away, but to that, I smiled.
"Is this your first rebellion... I wish your mother was here to see it... wait, where is your mother? You're so much like her, the same pure soul." I sighed to which Erza Scarlet paused for a moment until she remembered Jellal and tried to see him, not knowing why she couldn't hear him anymore.
"He burned away," Lucy said while covering her mouth, but I ignored them while the flames moved to show the past, showing me of Erza Scarlet's birth... but something was blocking my magic, making me frown. I had it show Erza Scarlet's past, but as I neared the point of her birth, I saw nothing, Erza Scarlet just appeared at the doorsteps of an orphanage,
"Is she really dead?" I asked with a sigh, not knowing what was going on. Did Irene do something to send Erza Scarlet so many years into the future? Could the time distortion have caused me to be unable to see her?
"Why? He wasn't in control of himself!" Erza Scarlet yelled through tears. That was her friend and even the person who gave her the name Scarlet. She looked up to him before the whole mind control thing, and as things were going, maybe they would have fallen in love.
"That doesn't make up for his actions, he was weak. If he truly valued you, then he could have broken free of the mind control. As things were going, he would have only valued you through guilt... and I disapprove of such a thing." I said calmly,
"You have no right to make any choices on my behalf." She said angrily, and to that, I nodded in agreement.
"I didn't choose on your behalf. I never want you to take a life... it's bad enough to become a mage, I have always wished for you to grow up as a spoiled rich princess. Something which your mother was fully against, wanting you to become a powerful mage like your aunt." I said while my black flames appeared in my palm, causing Erza Scarlet to grow stiff.
"Erza Scarlet, son of Ryujin Dragneel and irene Belserion. Next in line to the Dragnof throne." I said lightly while having the flames swallow her, Erza Scarlet tried to defend herself, but it was pointless as the flames swallowed her completely.
"Erza! You Bastard!" Natsu snapped back to reality and jumped towards me, I ignored Erza Scarlet while I caught Natsu's fist, and gave him a gentle smile.
"We always fought over who was older... but it's clear I'm the elder one Natsu," I said with a smile, making Natsu feel weird. He wanted to say something, but I hugged him, leaving Natsu stunned.
"I'm happy you are alive... sadly you don't remember me," I said while placing my palm on Natsu's stomach. Natsu eyes widened before he screamed in pain, falling to his knees while holding his stomach which was now smoking.
"Goodbye. It sucks I can't be the father or brother you want, but the path I walk... you two should stay far away from me." I said lightly while looking at Erza Scarlet who had fainted, my flames no longer on her.
"You were too harsh... couldn't you be more gentle with her?" Erza Dragneel, my now wife asked while holding Erza Scarlet.
"I rather she hates me now, she seeing me as an enemy would do more good than bad," I said while holding out my palm, the Scarlet Sword floating into my palm.
"Long time no see old friend... thank you for enchanting my daughter... But I shall entrust you with the task of keeping her safe." I said lightly while my flames shot out, forming a thin tornado around me.
"Whosoever holds this sword, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of The Scarlet King," I said while all of the flames gathered, entering the sword, and enchanting it. I threw the sword back into Erza Scarlet dimension, while I walked off.
"Let's go," I said to which Erza Dragneel sighed while looking at the fast-asleep Erza Scarlet, before standing up. She looked at Lucy and everyone else, who couldn't help but look at her legs which were blades.
"They would be alright, he just gave them a small gift." She said while looking at the cat in confusion as she had never seen such a weird flying cat. But she shrugged while walking off.
"Before we leave... as for you 6, should I kill you where you all kneel, or should I give you all a chance at another life?" I asked while sitting back on my throne, looking at the remaining members of Oración Seis, they were not all evil and had it within them to change.
"I'm not a ruthless killer, and although you hurt my little brother and daughter, along with their friends... I shall give you a second chance." I said while resting my head on my fist, looking down upon them like a true king.
"W-we will change." Midnight said sweat covering his forehead, he was horrified and didn't dare to move. At his words, I snapped my finger, and all of them floated into the sky and threw them to the back of the city. But I did take the golden keys from the celestial mage and gave them to Lucy, who was a celestial mage.
"I remember your ancestor, I wonder if you would be like her and collect all of the keys," I said while looking at her shocked look. She looked at me, before pausing seeing me take the ground and transform it into a button, which I gave her.
"When those two are in danger... no, when they and their friends are in danger, hit that button. I will come running as soon as possible." I said lightly, while Dragon City spread its wings out to fly. Erza Dragneel jumped over, landing next to my side like the knight she was, before we flew into the sky, the wind from our uplift almost sent Lucy and the others flying, but Erza Dragneel created a shield around them to shield them, leaving the whole forest to be destroyed...
