My hair had fallen out of its messy bun, the hair band somewhere in the grass. I ran my fingers through it, pushing my hair up and over my head. I licked my chapped lips, filled with frustration. "How would you know how I acted when my father died? I hadn't even met you when that happened to me. So, what could you possibly know? You weren't there, so you can't possibly know or remember anything."

"I know more than you think, Thea." My best friend, Ashton, said. "Don't beat yourself up like this-" He yelped again when I kicked the ball near his head.

"Will you stop that? I'm trying to talk some sense into your head, but you keep refusing to give me an audience." He hissed.

"Excuse me, Your Majesty. Would you please move out of the way?" I jeered back, my voice dripping heavily with sarcasm.
