章 5: Realization
Chloë.
I slowly opened my eyes. I was tied to a chair in a room that was really enclosed.
I'm claustrophobic. I couldn't breathe well and I had a little headache." Gosh where am I?"I asked myself.
I began to study the room carefully. It had only one window which was far beyond my reach.
Ah goodness my nose is bleeding. Was I beaten up? I feel pains all over my body too.
I stared at the door until I saw the door knob move.It was the driver.
"What do you want from me?"I shouted at him. He gave me an evil smirk.
"Shut up and listen carefully to me"he threatened me.
There was an awkward silence before he opened his mouth. Whew someone needed to explain what's happening.
"How does it feel?" He paused and walked around me severally at a slow pace.
"To take the crown from a prince who is yet to be the king"he stared into my eyes.
"Terrible I guess?"I gulped because I was very scared at that moment. And I don't even know where this is going.
"Of course, terrible you say"he smirked and gave out an evil chuckle.
"What if I told you someone did take away his dreams? Such a person, what does he or she(he stretched the 'she') deserve?" He stared into my soul.
"Why are you asking me these questions? I mean I don't even know you, you kidnapped the wrong person and for a fact I don't understand what you mean" I admitted.
"You are the person I want, Ms Chloë Britney right? " he said and gripped by jaw.
"How do you know? And what do you want from me ?" I yelled.
"I don't have a problem with you.....but my boss does." He said and moved away a little.
"And- and who is your boss?" I asked him
" Mr. Andrea,he was going to be the next Italian mafia but because of your stupid mistake he lost it" he explained and turned away from me.
Who is Andrea? I don't know him.And did he say Mafia? I laughed hard and I couldn't control myself so it came out.
"What's funny?" He said with a serious look." Did you say Italian mafia?, Because I'm lost, those things are not real." I said and looked away.
"You are really a pain in the neck, no wonder Boss wants to get rid of you, you're going to believe it with your own eyes." He shrugged lazily.
"So what now, are you going to kill me? " I asked confidently.
"No not now, we are going to play around you and give you pain to the fullest, but before I'll let you go,Mr Andrea wants you to know that he's going to blow up your workplace"
"What?? Please no... please this can't happen, people are going to die" I gulped.
"Yeah I know,that's the aim, to kill your close people and also your family, before he will kill you". He walked to the door.
"So what I'm I supposed to do-
"Just live your last days on earth and don't even try reporting this to the police or discuss it with someone otherwise,that person will die before you, and just so you know, Boss is watching your every move he is literally watching you right now." he said and left the room.
Who the heck is Mr Andrea and what does he want from me?
I'm so confused about what's going on.
I was thinking and thinking deep to find out who Mr Andrea was when the door was opened again.
He didn't speak and moved closer to me then he blind folded me. They moved me out of the room and the next stop was in a car.
Yep I could feel I was in the middle of two people and the ride was quieter than I thought.
I was still in pain and in a complete dilemma also. I don't know what to do now. Gosh I can't tell anyone about this too.
Everything was going so well in my life until today. Tables have turned really too quickly. I hate my existence right now.
I noticed the car had stopped and the men beside me had gotten down.
"Get down!" One of the men commanded.
I held onto the car as support since none of the men opted to help. I got down and they loosened the blindfold.
It was where I'd pulled up my car. They left without saying a word.
"Morons!!" I yelled and headed to my car.
I was shocked to see everything intact as how I left it.
I picked my phone to see a lot of missed calls. From Zach, Ryan and Mr Kyle, my boss.
I didn't bother to call them back but I knew Ryan was probably waiting for me for the gift thing.
I drove back to my workplace and found Ryan there.
" Where have you been?"he asked angrily.
"I had a bad day at work and left early to the beach to release stress." I can't tell him where I was. I couldn't even lie in his eyes, I was just looking at the floor.
" Why didn't you just call me?" He asked.Oh thank God,he believed it.
"I didn't want to bother you, that's why" I explained.
"Well, I was so worried about you so I called Zach and he also had know idea where you were,he's probably still looking for you so I'm going to call him now that you are with me" he admitted and excused himself to call him.
I nodded in agreement then he moved a little far from me. I took a deep breath to relax from whatever was going on.
I went back to my car and grabbed the gift package I'd bought for Ryan.
"I'm back," he said. I turned to see him smiling so wide and it felt like we were kids again.
"I've got a little something for you" I said and reached out for it.
"Here" I handed it over and he unwrapped it. I could see the shock in his eyes then he suddenly hugged me.
It was a nice feeling. I got him one thing he'd wanted from childhood, a hand stamped penny keychain.
I don't know why but that's what he wanted so I got it for him.
"I also have something for you," he paused.
"Tickets to the amusement park-
"No way, " I said, shocked.
"How did you know I've always wanted that?"
"Because you've never been to one since childhood and I felt the need to do so".
"So sweet of you". I hugged him.
He's not wrong, my childhood was not as normal as normal people. So thoughtful of him.
"I wish this night never ended, but I have to go home." I told him truthfully.
"Yeah good bye and if you think you are going through something tough tell me, don't bear it alone " he hugged me one last time and headed to his car.
I also turned to my car. Ryan I also wish I would tell you what's going on but I can't.
I don't even know what's going on anymore.
I entered the car and had a call from Mr. Kyle.
" Good evening sir" I politely greeted.
"Why didn't you come to work today? A lot of people had already booked to meet you but you disappointed me" he admitted.
" Something came up,I'm sorry it won't happen again" I tried to be formal.
" Well don't worry it got taken care of, well the reason why I called was to inform you that someone has booked an appointment especially for you so don't absent yourself tomorrow too"
" Okay sir"
" Good bye" he concluded and hang up.
I gave out a huge sigh.The workplace is going to blow up tomorrow. What's the point of the appointment?
I felt like crying so much but I was driving. I didn't have anything in mind. My head was empty.
Someone I don't know but knows me is trying to kill me. What have I even done?What mistake is he talking about?
I can't wait to reach home and cry my soul out. Italian mafia? How did we even meet.
Wait when will we be going to the amusement park? I have to call Ryan.
I just realized I haven't eaten all day and my stomach is growling.
I ate at a small restaurant on the road side and drove back home. I was just still waiting for tomorrow to come.
I was still trying hard to remember who Mr. Andrea was but I just couldn't.
