章 15: IRIS
When Sea took me to another ring for shopping, I started having doubts about the shopping trip. But, after spending some time with her, she seemed really nice. The only thing about her was that she always gave off the wrong vibe.
Maybe it was her ocean blue eyes that made her seem mysterious. Her blue hair complimented her purple shirt and blue jeans. She was the personification of beautiful, mysterious and probably dangerous.
We didn't talk much after discussing Draco. We ended the shopping trip and said our goodbyes.
When I entered the house, I saw Wayne. I tried avoiding him so he wouldn't quiz me about my parents like he always did.
Luckily, Vera came in with Wanda. She asked me if Sea gave me the gun. I told her she did and that we went shopping.
I excused myself to go to my room. I took out my parents' picture to look at them. I had really missed them.
"Where are you?", I whispered softly. It wasn't long before I had cried my self to sleep.

We were all at the Lake of Healing for the picnic. Everyone was chatting with one another. I stayed out of the conversations unless someone asked me something.
I was a loner. I had spent eighteen years of my life with my parents barely interacting with the outside world. I was even homeschooled, but my parents'disappearance had made me forcefully come out of my shell.
I stood up to go closer to the lake. I saw Gray there as he watched the lake. He looked so peaceful. I watched him closely, his grey eyes, his black beanie, his black sunglasses,his grey hoodie, black jeans and black shoes.
I found calm in seeing such a peaceful face. It made me feel like my turbulent life could be a little peaceful.
He turned and noticed me. I tried smiling to relieve the awkwardness. He smiled back, thankfully.
"The lake makes you feel at peace, right?", I asked him.
"It makes you feel like everything is going to be okay. Then when you leave, you are brought back to your painful reality, and reminded that the peace was only temporary. "
"It's still nice to be able to feel that peace, even if it's temporary. ", I said trying to counter his pessimistic view.
"No, it only gives you hope, only to crush it."
"The world is unfair, some are blessed while others are not. And the worst thing, the ones who aren't blessed are forced to meet standards they can never achieve.", He continued.
"Are you talking about yourself?"
I didn't know why I asked that question, but it felt to me like he was referring to himself.
"Yeah. Everyday of my life, I've tried to grow stronger. But no matter how hard I try, I always end in the same place. No matter how futile all my efforts are, I still have to keep going because it's the only choice I have."
"I wasn't blessed with strength but I'm been forced to be like one. "
I felt bad for Gray. No wonder he sounded so pessimistic.
"I haven't known you for long or know how much effort you have put to becoming stronger. But there's something my mom told me, 'sometimes you just have to stop and give up some things'. "
He didn't reply to what I said and just looked away. Did I say something wrong? What was I even saying? He must have wanted to give up too but couldn't.
A noise disrupted my train of thoughts. It was the group and they were heading closer to the lake. The moon and stars reflected on the lake. Wanda howled at the moon and everyone came to look at the beautiful view.
I sighed happy with the peace around me. It was probably the calm before the storm.
