 "You have lost your mind," Penelope immediately stepped away from Nicolai. This man had lost his mind. How could he even suggest such a thing? What had she done to deserve this? Ariana was completely fine. 

Even if she suffered a little, was she not alright? Why should she be punished in such a horrible manner? Penelope didn't doubt Nicolai's words; in fact, she was certain that he might really do it. 

She wasn't going to let him ruin her. Stifling a sob, she said to Nicolai, "I know that my approach was not right. I admit that I was being petty and jealous, but I was also scared. I made a mistake but I will not do it again…" She turned to look at her mother and rushed towards her before throwing herself in front of her.
