As the submarine passes through the water far beneath the base, you wonder if the asteroid that created the crater up above once passed this way.
The submarine moves through a narrow channel that zig-zags downwards. Everything is still around the vessel.
"I hope we really find something," Marcel says over the comms, "but on one level I'll be happier if it's dead down there. If it's all dead, then there's no guilt in us coming here. We could even release some whales, give some Earth animals a new home. But if there's life then it's just us shitting on other species all over again."
