章 107: Ch. 107: Jeice's Heart
"Ha! Ahahahahaha! Somehow, Kakarot's become a monster. He'll probably deal with Ginyu rather easily, but it doesn't matter anymore! With one battle, my strength has increased tenfold! Screw Kakarot! Screw Raditz! Screw Ginyu! The universe is mine! HAHAHA!" Vegeta shouted as he flew towards Frieza's ship, making sure to lower his power level to around 40,000 to throw off Jeice, who was slightly in front of Piccolo, chasing desperately after him.
Despite his boasting, it was just to himself. Vegeta didn't know the depths of Frieza's strength, but he was certain that he wasn't strong enough to take HIM on yet, and with their annoying Kaio-ken technique, he wasn't very certain about his chances against Goku and Raditz when they got serious, either. After all, Kakarot's battle power when he'd blocked Ginyu's blow had jumped to around 100,000 in an instant. Vegeta guessed that his power had jumped to around 300,000 after the battle. Kakarot's 'Kaio-ken times three' would end up being more than he could handle, and the girl's strange technique seemed dangerous, too.
"It doesn't matter. I just need to find the Dragon Balls wherever Ginyu hid them, get that village of idiots to wish for my temporary immortality, and I'll be the strongest person in the universe. Then, I'll just have to kill Kakarot, Raditz, and Frieza, and I can go back to Earth and use their Dragon Balls to wish for eternal youth." After learning that the Dragon Balls were more of a crutch than anything else, Vegeta had decided to give up on immortality. He wanted to be the insurmountable, strongest person in the universe, no crutch, no contest, for all eternity. That meant that he needed eternal youth, rather than to be simply eternally unkillable. Not even he could outrun age, no matter how powerful he became. Getting that for free wouldn't be cheating, in his mind.
"I should let him catch up before I get to the ship. If my Dragon Balls get caught in an errant blast..." Vegeta thought aloud, not knowing that the Dragon Balls, having been made from part of the Super Dragon Balls, were indestructible even in the face of a destroyer's Hakai. He slowed down to allow Jeice to catch up with him, but clicked his tongue. 'Raditz is faster than I expected. He's already caught up with Jeice. I won't be able to outrun him unless I go all out!' He realized with a start, immediately blasting off at a quicker pace than ever before.
Vegeta clicked his tongue. Raditz was roughly as strong as Kakarot, at least comparable. That put his base strength as weaker than Vegeta's, but the man wasn't as soft as Kakarot. He didn't like his chances against him in a fair fight, nor in a race.
'Damn it! As much as I hate to admit it, I guess I'll have to play their game... Temporary immortality now, then I'll have to steal the Dragon Balls on Earth...' He realized reluctantly. "I'll hold the Namekian Dragon Balls hostage to ensure that the earthlings keep up their end of the deal." He decided aloud.

Jeice was confident. This was his chance to get back on Captain Ginyu's good side. All he needed to do was catch Vegeta. He was confident that he was stronger than Vegeta. Sure, his power had grown by about 5,000 after the other Saiyan healed him, but it was still nowhere near Jeice's 55,000. Jeice would take Vegeta out, bring him back to the Captain, who would already have dealt with that other Saiyan, and he'd be invited back into the Ginyu Force as if nothing had happened. He could see it now! Then, his world was shattered.
'Whoosh!' Suddenly, something was alongside him. Then, it wasn't, and Jeice was being blown aside by shockwaves. Surprised, Jeice turned his scouter, which had been tuned specifically into Vegeta's power level, to see everything in front of him, and the reading that he saw in that instant made him lose his will to live entirely.
"Two... hundred... thousand..." He whispered to himself, stopping in midair out of sheer terror. As much as he hated to admit it, Jeice believed those readings. Only something leagues stronger than Jeice would have been able to push him out of the way with just their shockwaves, as if he was nothing more than a gnat.
As if noticing his stop, Vegeta's power reading lowered for only a moment... then...
"Fifty... Sixty.. Eighty... One Hundred... One seventy-five! Two hundred-" Jeice's scouter exploded on his face, despite being the highest grade of close-range scouters in existence. They could easily detect any power level up to 250,000... so Vegeta's new power somehow exceeded that. Jeice didn't believe it. He didn't want to believe it. All he wanted to do was crawl in a hole.
"Not even the Captain'll be able to deal with power levels this high! They'll kill 'im like a bug!" Jeice realized with a start. He had mixed feelings about that. "I owe the Captain so much... but..."
'Jeice. If you say another word or do anything at all that I didn't specifically tell you to do, you won't like the result.' Jeice remembered. If Jeice were to fail to bring those... monsters... back to the Captain, the Captain would have killed him on the spot. He couldn't succeed. He couldn't kill someone with a power level of over 250,000, or even come close.
Jeice was a dead man, and he knew it.
'But so is the Captain!' In the midst of the darkness, Jeice saw the light. A way out. 'If these things kill the Cap'n, then he can't punish me! I'll be Lord Frieza's strongest subordinate, so he probably won't kill me as a punishment! All I need to do is hide, and maybe I'll survive this mess!' Jeice realized. Those were some pretty big leaps in logic. Jeice was pinning all of his hopes for survival on the fact that Goku would kill Ginyu, then Frieza would slaughter everyone stronger than Jeice, without destroying the planet. Honestly, there wasn't a chance of that happening, but Jeice didn't know that.
"Heh... heh... I just gotta hide! That's the only way I'll survive!" Jeice shouted to himself, rushing off, away from the battles, and away from everything.
