章 3: Games.(2)

An unknown amount of time later, the trio could be seen walking down a hallway with all the other teams that passed the test.

Dracul could sense their heartbeats as he passed by. Most of them were nervous even if they wore an outwardly confident expression.

It was to be expected. This was a life or death trial after all.

Moments later, the participants arrived in a large blue room.

Participants who had faced each other in battle on the last test could be seen arguing. Especially those that happened to lose a limb.

Unfortunately, they couldn't do anything about it. At least, not for now.

"Did you not understand my words? I said no fighting during break time."

A blonde man wearing a long white coat over a black outfit appeared. From the sound of his voice, Dracul identified him as the man who was on the speaker.

He was admonishing the regulars who were arguing.

This went on for a few moments until they calmed down and the man turned to everyone else to address them.

"Mic test! Regulars, over here! Please focus! I will explain the next round! Before that, to give you some brief information about myself. I'm your test administrator, Ranker Lero Ro! Nice to meet chu!"

The crowd was unamused by his attempt to be funny as he explained a few conditions present in this test. Firstly, those who didn't pass this test couldn't take the next test. Secondly, it was an elimination test. So there wouldn't be any second chanced.

Lero ro outstretched his hand, muttered a few words and something amazing happened.

WHOOSH!

A blue wall of what seemed to be water appeared and pushed every single regular back quite a few feet.

Dracul could hear them asking what this was and someone made a mention of the term 'Shinsu' but he couldn't find out anything after that. The only thing he could gather was this barrier was a wall of Shinsu.

Lero ro then went on to explain what Shinsu was, which confirmed a lot of Dracul's thoughts. Shinsu was what allowed them to breathe and it was a primary source of water. But at the same time, if used a certain way, it could be a powerful murder weapon.

He then went on to explain varying reactions certain people would have to being exposed to a high concentration of Shinsu. That was the purpose of this barrier. To weed out those who would show negative reactions to it.

The process was simple. They just needed to walk through the barrier. Those who could stand it, got through. Those who didn't, well, they were sent home.

Worse yet, one's entire team had to pass through for it to count. It was completely based on luck.

For regulars, anyways.

Dracul wasn't even pushed back. He stood there looking at Lero ro while the latter looked at him in shock.

"I passed, right?"

Lero ro nodded. But soon after, some more shocking words graced his ear.

"Um, i-i don't know why...but I wasn't pushed out..."

A young boy that looked no more than 15 years old spoke to the administrator with an embarrassed look on his face. It seems he wasn't pushed out either.

The boy wanted to run back out to take the test properly but Lero ro stopped him and told he passed. Of course, most of the other applicants were furious at this decision while the rest wondered who the two people were.

Dracul simply turned around and looked at his two teammates who got pushed out.

"How could you let such a weak barrier push you back? Hurry and enter, I can't be stopped here because of you."

Hearing Dracul call his barrier weak caused a vein to pop out of Lero ro's forehead, but he let it go. It wasn't the first time he got a talented but arrogant regular.

An angry smile appeared on Anak's face as she stomped forward and waltzed through the barrier with no effort.

"You only got lucky. Don't forget, the only reason I joined you was to eventually defeat you. The moment you lose to anyone else, I'll leave this team."

Dracul chuckled.

"Even if you trained for a million years, you couldn't defeat me."

Anak gritted her teeth as she braced on the wall close to Dracul.

"Tsk, is that so? Then we'll see. The swordsman should be coming through anytime now."

As if on cue, Hatz walked through the barrier with relative ease, joining his teammates on the wall.

Unbeknownst to Dracul though, someone was having a conversation about him not far away. It was the administrator and the young boy.

"So Mr.Baam, it seems you were right about that green lizard passing. Your insight isn't too bad. What I wanted to ask you about though..."

Lero ro then pointed at Dracul and continued, "What do you think of him?"

Baam thought for a bit before he responded with, "I don't know if this is correct or not but...I feel like the Shinsu avoids him completely. I remember when everyone was being pushed out, the Shinsu barrier broke, went around him and formed itself again after passing him. I saw it happen."

Lero ro rubbed his chin as he thought about what this meant.

'This is an interesting case. While I can't completely trust the words of a child, I can't foolishly discard them either. I'll have to see for myself.'

Lero ro continued chatting with Baam as the test went on.

Eventually, it was over. Many regulars passed, many failed. It was expected.

"Those who passed the test, make a line! The next test will be conducted on a first come, first served basis!"

Since Dracul's entire team finished first, they were the first to go in line.

There was red tape blocking the entrance and a woman that resembled a bee standing behind it.

"Hi, I'm the test guide, yellowy. The test will be conducted one team after another. For the remaining teams, please wait and follow the guide robots instructions. Well, the test will begin, the first team may enter now."

Dracul and his team entered the room and were greeted by an enormous space complete with innumerable doors.

In the middle of this room was a man with orange hair wearing an orange and blue robe.

"Nice to meet you, regulars. My name is Han Sung Yu, and I'm the administrator of your next test. Shall we start the test? It's simple really. See the doors behind me? Within ten minutes, find the real door and open it. If you find the real door and open it, you will pass. However, if you don't find the door within ten minutes and give up, you will fail. And if you open the wrong door within ten minutes, you will die."

Dracul laughed at the idea of death and just started walking towards a random door.

"Follow me."

Both Hatz and Anak were taken aback. How could they just follow him when the wrong door meant death?

"Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!"

Anak gritted her teeth and was the first to follow in Dracul's footsteps. If he was so fearless then what was stopping her?

Hatz, against his better judgment, also followed along, running to catch up with the two.

When Anak caught up to Dracul, she grabbed his cloak fiercely and asked, "How do you know which door to go through?"

Dracul didn't stop when she grabbed him. He dragged her along as he grabbed the handle of a door.

"I don't. All I can tell you is you don't need to be afraid of death when I am here."

WHOOSH!

Dracul opened the door, revealing a white light behind it.

"Congratulations, you passed."

The two were confused. How could it have been so easy?

Hansung Yu could read their expressions and simply said, "To pass this test, you just had to open the door within five minutes. The two of you hesitated. Honestly, this is the first time in a long time that someone just immediately picked a door without even thinking about it. It was amusing. Well, congratulations. You may proceed to the next area."

Dracul nodded and left while the two, still a bit bewildered from the result, slowly followed behind.

It was time for the next test.
