Chapter 8 — Sword Training (2)
Ning Chen was forbidden on using his spirit power to reinforce his physical attributes. He was only allowed to use his body to make the training more effective.
He spent the whole time of his first training day—swinging his sword constantly with little to no rest.
Yu Qian would sternly correct his stance and posture when swinging his sword and if he made a mistake, no matter how small it was, Yu Qian would hit him with a stick at the spot where he did wrong.
Ning Chen also didn't dared to slack off in his training even if Yu Qian was not watching him because the consequences would be severe if Yu Qian found out.
He would only rest when Yu Qian told him and when he was feeling hungry, he would eat a bunch of food filled with proper nutrients that was made by Yu Liena.
Ning Chen found her cooking skills to be very good. He was very glad that he chose to live in their house because he was able to eat her foods and train without any trouble.
By the time it turned night, Ning Chen was pretty much exhausted and covered in pungent sweat. He was left with little amount of energy that could barely allow him to walk.
He couldn't also lift his arms properly, feeling that he was wearing heavy iron cast over it.
His palms were no different, itching very badly and blistering severely due to him swinging the sword for the whole day.
Thankfully for him, Yu Qian had prepared a medicinal bath for him to recover.
Ning Chen used his remaining energy to walk toward the medicinal bath which was placed in the backyard.
The medicinal bath water was inside a large round wooden barrel and he went inside it without even bothering to take off his clothes.
The medicinal bath was painful, especially when Ning Chen had some wounds, but he could only endure the pain while gritting his teeth.
The medicinal bath's effect were to clear away all of the hidden injuries in his body that appeared due to his harsh training and then wash away all of his accumulated fatigue.
His torn muscles and skins quickly healed thanks to the medicinal bath and his own incredible healing factor.
After a hour inside the medicinal bath, Ning Chen finally finished absorbing every medicinal properties.
Although he was still feeling tired, Ning Chen was able to sense his body growing ever so slightly.
He soon went to his room, changing into his pajamas and then went to sleep on the bed.
Tomorrow, he planned on cultivating his spirit power first and continue on his sword training.
Spirit power cultivation was something he couldn't skip.
...
Time slowly flew by.
Ning Chen didn't knew how much time exactly passed since he started living in Yu Qian's house as he was extremely immersed in training with his sword.
He continued to train while persevering through the monotonous action of repeatedly slashing his sword.
Ning Chen had already encountered many heart demons during his training, whispering to him to give up on this exhausting and straining training that was also extremely dull.
However, he was slowly liking the sensation of slowly growing stronger through this dull training, making him ignore those heart demons with his determination not wavering at all.
Ning Chen's mind was also gradually being tempered alongside his body and technique.
Thanks to the amazing effort and perseverance he was showing, he already managed to completely swing his sword for ten thousand times and was now currently slashing his sword.
His endurance was much greater than before and his palms now covered in rough skin made it not bleed anymore, causing him to last longer when training for a long time.
Ning Chen was currently sitting cross-legged at the backyard, pondering over the words that Yu Qian had repeatedly instructed to him.
"Feel the heartbeat of my sword..."
"...And make that heartbeat of my sword become one with my own heartbeat."
Ning Chen saw himself appearing inside a large ocean with countless translucent swords floating everywhere.
He was slowly sinking deeper inside the ocean of swords, but after reaching a certain depth, he stopped sinking further after hitting an invisible wall.
Ning Chen felt he was missing something to continue diving deeper.
Leaving that space made purely out of his imagination, he returned to reality, feeling very hungry.
Ning Chen then decided to head toward Yu Liena's kitchen to replenish his energy.
While he was eating quickly, Yu Liena who was beside him suddenly asked a strange question.
Yu Liena had sometimes watched Ning Chen training in an extreme way everyday and started to wonder why he was working so hard.
"Why do you desire for strength? Is it for Fame? Wealth? Godhood?" She questioned.
Ning Chen was silent for a moment before answering.
"I don't know my true desire yet. I might want to become a god or become the strongest in this world to live with freedom, but all I know is that I currently desire to protect my family, my clan and the people close to me."
Yu Liena smiled after hearing his answer and felt satisfied.
"Then that's part of your true desire. Every single piece of desire in your heart is what makes your true desire."
Ning Chen widened his eyes as he came into a realization.
Although it was only slightly connected to what she said, he was able to realize what he was missing to continue diving deeper.
He was missing the proper desire to become a true swordsman!
A sudden enlightenment dawned Ning Chen.
Thump!
Ning Chen heard a faint heartbeat coming from Kel'al which soon faded.
He then saw himself appearing inside the ocean of swords once again, but this time, he continued diving deeper, breaking past the wall blocking him.
Ning Chen soon reached the very bottom of the ocean of swords and saw a large ancient door infront of him.
He instinctively knew that he wasn't still able to open the ancient door because his desire as a swordsman and technique were not strong enough.
He didn't feel disappointed and instead felt his determination reaching a new height.
The concept of time slowly flowed once again.
Ning Chen's life for the next few months was a boring and dull cycle of collapsing in exhaustion and then waking up to train with his sword.
It was a constant cycle of repetition, but Ning Chen was slowly learning the joy of his sword training, causing his desire as a swordsman to gradually become stronger.
And before Ning Chen could knew about it, a total of five months had passed since he started training.
He was now seven years old.
Ning Chen was in the backyard, standing underneath the willow tree.
He was currently wearing a black training robes which couldn't hide his muscular and well-proportioned body.
He had also grown more taller with his glossy pink hair now reaching his ears.
Ning Chen's physical attributes was definitely far stronger compared to when he first started training. He thought that he could beat his past self very easily.
However, Ning Chen biggest improvement wasn't over his body, but on the sword.
His body improving greatly was just the secondary effect of his harsh and intense sword training.
Ning Chen's current foundation of the sword was extremely sturdy after absorbing everything that Yu Qian taught him like a sponge.
He after all reached ten thousand times repetition of every four basic moves and those moves were now deeply tied into his instincts.
Ning Chen felt proud and satisfied after completing those hellish requirements.
Now, whenever he held Kel'al, he would always feel it's heartbeat and was only lacking the part of making it follow his own heartbeat.
Ning Chen arrived infront if the ancient door that he wasn't able to open before. He felt his desire and technique were strong enough to open this ancient door.
Thump!
His heartbeat resounded like a thunderous drum and Kel'al also released it's own heartbeat.
Thump!
Thump!
Ning Chen's heartbeat became as sharp as a sword overpowering Kel'al's heartbeat, causing it to slowly follow his own heartbeat.
It was also at this moment that the ancient door opened inside his mind, leading into a whole new larger world of the sword.
Thump!
His heartbeat and his sword, Kel'al became one, causing him to feel like the sword in his hand was no longer a lifeless tool, but something like his limbs which he could move precisely with ease.
Kel'al felt lively and Ning Chen could control it perfectly with no difficulty or sense of delay.
It was at this instant that he stepped into the One With The Sword Realm—the starting point of all talented swordsman!
After arriving at this realm, Ning Chen saw that in his mind after opening the ancient door, there seems to be a deeper layer to the ocean of the swords that seemed to be bottomless.
Ning Chen had the thought of someday reaching the very limits of this bottomless ocean.
....
Was this confusing? I'm not really good at doing time skip cause it always feel like a info dump.
Now that he finished training with the sword, I think it's time for spirit rings.
