章 12: Get Together
"Chun-jie! Xue! I miss you guys!" Huaisang threw himself at the two who just laughs at his behavior.
Chun pats his head "We missed you too"
"A-Chun, A-Xue, I brought something" Yanli stood in front of her two brothers who carried containers.
Wei Wuxian caught a glimpse of yellow clothing "Why are those peacocks here?!" Chun rested a hand on hi shoulder "Relax, although Zixuan may seem arrogant, it's because of his upbringing. I assure you he's a nice person" they looked at her in disbelief.
Xue, "But I don't know why the other ones here. We only invited Zixuan" Jiang Cheng was ready to confront them when Zixuan took the initiative "Lady Chun, I apologize if my father asked Yaliang to tag along. You know how he is when you're involved"
"Then why not just stay back in the first place? Instead you come and bring that bastard who daree insult on of the host of this gathering" Yanli stood im between them "A-Xian, Chun invited him so it isn't your place to tell them off" she faces the Jin's briefly smiling shyly towards Zixuan "Young Master Yaliang, from what I've heard it is only Young Master Jin who was invited"
"What? You suppose I disobey my father? The sector leader and head of clan!" Yaliang glares.
It was Zixuan who surprisingly told him off "You shall not raise your voice towards Lady Jiang. We are only guests here and you're already causing trouble"
"Trouble? How am I causing trouble when they were suggestively telling me to leave"
Chun gaze at him "Remember, it's Zixuan who we invited. Sector Leader Jin wouldn't mind if I send you back since he still owe us" the tension and silence was ruining the gathering.
"Xichen-ge!" Huaisang suddenly greeted and everyone turned to the two young master of Lan saluting to them.
"What's going on?" he asked
Xue "Just a slight disagreement but everything is settled"
"Eh are those Emperor Smile" Wei Wuxian couldn't keep his mouth shut at the sight of alcohol.
"Why is Second Young Master Lan here too?" Huaisang whispered.
Xue gestured at the long tabled covered with different dishes "Shall we?" almost everyone went to get food "My apologies but I'm only here to drop off Wangji since I have other matters at hand"
"Have a safe trip brother"
With that Xichen left the young cultivators to enjoy themselves as they sat wherever they please and ate "What is this meeting about?" everyone's gaze went towards Wangji.
"It's to gather and have fun without being told off by adult of course!" Wei Wuxian was already drinking "That's absurd"
Xue faced him "Did Young Master Lan not show you the letter? We made sure to say that it's a small gathering for us to leisure around"
Huaisang stiffled a laugh "Don't tell me..Xichen-ge tricked you into coming here?" Chun and Wei Wuxian bursted out laughing as Wangji felt annoyed.
Wangji ended up staying after being persuaded, he observes everyone who were having fun eating, drinking, and talking. These people haven't seen each other for months and it was kind for the two to have this kind of gathering to catch up.
The doors suddenly slammed open and ther stood Wen Chao, Wen Ning, a woman, and two disciples posing as his guard "Well, well, well, what do we have here? Young Masters from all 4 great Sectors. Were you colluding with each other against me and my clan?!"
Chun blurts out "I don't know if yours dumb, blind, and paranoid" Xue got in between "This is a small gathering of our friend circle, we apologize if you mistook it as something else"
"Then why was I not invited yet this is!"
"Maybe because as stated on the invite, Wen Ning is our friend. I don't remember making acquaintances with you or whoever these other people you brought" Chun loomed over him
This irritated the arrogant Wen "Ha! You better watch your words or I don't know what my men would do" Chun smirks "Oh really? I mean I'm not worried on protecting myself and my brother"
"Your true color finally shows, you're climbing through these powerful figures" Wen Chao proudly stated as if he unfold a mystery "You really are an idiot" Chun stepped forward and the two Wen discipled draws their sword.
'Mhh a single edged sword, it's easier to flow with these' just as the two Wen disciples swung their sword, Chun and Xue moved back before pressing their palm on the flat side of the sword and rotating it so that it was thei knuckles that slid on it before forcefully pushing back the disciples as they had control over their weapons.
More Wen disciples went in and both parties had their swords drawn "You'll be begging for mercy" Wen Chao smugly looked at them.
Chun yawns, "I wouldn't count on that. Do you think these people would be left alone?" Xue pointed at different directions "Those are where the discples -who were sent to watch over them- are. Certainly their parents or relatives -who are mostly Sector Leaders- would be worried to even let them be alone or with such group of people"
Chun leaned on Wen Chao's ear "Do you still think you can take us on? I wouldn't want your bitter blood contaminating the air" he backs away immediately "What's so good about a gathering with these kind of people anyway. They had a reason to invite someone so useless, so leave them! Let's go!" before he can leave the door he side glanced at them "My father will hear about this, especially you two"
Everything was silent before the Chun laughs and Xue chuckles "Who is he? Draco Malfoy? My father will hear about this" she mimicks.
"Xue, is what you said earlier true?" Huaisang asked to whih Xue nods "But Da-ge said that if Ling Wu was invited, then it's convenient to have her guard me" Xue hid a smile "Do you really think he'll let you off with just one?"
Chun grins at Wen Ning "I didn't expect you to actually come but it's great that you did! The food's getting cold so help yourself" the shy boy smiles "Ah..I'm sorry, I know I'm the only one invited but my sister also came"
"Hello, I'm Wen Qing" she bows
"It's nice to meet you Lady Wen. Please go ahead and make yourselves comfortable"
The sky had already turned dark, it's been a good few hours of drinking, chatting, napping, eating, etc. Huaisang was already passed out in one of the rooms of the rented inn. Lan Wangji had also went in his given room. Yanli and Zixuan went to the patio at the back near a pond. Wen Ning had talked with others and enjoyed the atmosphere which puts Wen Qing at ease.
"Hey, how about we prank Chun?" Wei Wuxian suggested to the people near him and the looked at Chun who's face was already red from drinking almost nonstop "Just stop whatever you're scheming, you'll give her a hard time"
"Aww come on, it'll be a harmless one" he pulls Xue "We'll use him" Xue looks at them confused "Use me? For what?" Ling Wu snatched the boy "No, just no. Unless you have a death wish" Wei Wuxian pouts "But it's the only way we can get a reaction from her, she barely cares about anything"
Jiang Cheng hesitantly nods "That is true" Ling Wu shook her head "A reaction you might-" shattering of a few plates and Xue running out of her grasp silenced everyone.
Chun had a dark expression directed to Yaliang as Xue firmly held onto her arm "My brother might've knocked you out cold with one kick. Do or even say something like that again, I'll make sure to knock the life out of you" she seethed.
Yanli and Zixuan must've heard the commotion "What's going on?" Yanli asked as they ran up to the three, Chun sigh "It's nothing. Zixuan, make sure you put that dog of yours on a leash and discipline him" she mutters as she passed by him.
"Where are you going?" Chun smiled "I won't go far, I just nead fresh air" Xue's eyes were filled with worry "But you've drank a lot, you should just calk it a night" she ruffles hid hair "I won't take long" she walks out letting everyone else breath.
Zixuan gave Yaliang a look before walking Yanli to her room.
Ling Wu, "Whatever that dude said, it must've been about Xue. I'm surprised you still don't know this after they spent a year training at Yunmeng" Xue wsnt back to the group "If she doesn't get back in 10 minutes I'll leave you guys for a bit" Wen Ning walks up to them "Lady Jie dropped this" it was her money pouch "Ah thank you, Young Master Wen" Xue takes it.
"Isn't your sister's reaction a little too intense?" Wen Qing asked "She's just like that because I know she cares. He must've said something that ticked her of especially now that she's drunk" Xue awkwardly laugh.
Wen Ning tries to recall what it was about "I think he said something about how they'll eventually get engaged and she'll be under" Wen Qing shook her head "She didn't show any interest on that part. It was when she said it would never happen and the guy said he'll kidnap her brother or something"
Xue froze for a second "..Then she really didn't overreact" Jiang Cheng asks "What do you mean?" They all sat down not worry about Yaliang and Zixuan since they already went into their rooms.
"When we were little, she was labeled as very violent and everyone avoids her as much as they can. Truth is she just try to fight for those who can't defend themselves even if it meant taking the blame"
~~A little Xue was silently crying "Oi, who did that to you?" the lil'Chun asked but he didn't respond "Still not talking to me? I already know who it probably is so I'll be right back" she runs off.
Minutes later, kids started to gather at a certain area that caught Xue's attention and as he went closer he saw Chun hanging at the back of a slightly older boy by his hair as she repeatedly kicks him with her small legs "Haven't I told you not to mess with Xue! You think because I'm younger than you I can't kick your ass!" two women pulled them apart and Chun was still trying reach out and claw the boy.~~
Jiang Cheng tries to suppress a smile "Well the boy deserved it after tripping you to a tree. Who even picks on toddlers" the rest agrees. Wei Wuxian pouts "Why can't they just tell the elders"
"If it were only that easy, noone listens to me while the others didn't want to get involved. Eventually she grew tired and wanted to runaway so I went with her" Wen Ning was surprised "But weren't you guys too young" Xue nods "It wasn't easy for kids to survive the streets. Eventually we learned our way and managed but one day..."
~~"Give us the money and we'll let your brother go" Chun tossed them a small bag "This is all the money I collected within the area that you claim. Now let him go" the teen just laughed "Aww you're no fun..grab her" just then her arms were restricted by two other boys.
The leader pulled Xue's head up by the hair "Your sister's too easy to comply... she's quiet a looker, I wouldn't mind having my way-" Xue headbutted him "You damn brat" he punched Xue.
"Pei Xu! We had an agreement! I didn't spend a cent!" Chun tries to go for him but she was immediately held back "Do you really think it's that easy?" He walks to her grabbing her face, Chun spits at him to which he responed with a slap.
"But you took your sweet time so let me have the interest" he plays with her hair "Don't touch her you ugly bastard!" Xue got kicked off his chair.
Chun bent her legs back to kick the right guy's crotch as she flipped the other one to the ground before lunging at the leader. She was hit on the back with a pole but she pulls out a knife and held it to the leader's neck "Stop! Everyone of you stop!" small gang of teens complies "You're pretty strong for a kid your age" she coughs up a small amount of blood.
"We had a fucking deal Pei Xu! I told you I'll give you the money and you'll free my brother but you just had to be a dick" she grabs his head and bashed him out.
She did the best she can to defend herself with the knife while trying to free Xue from the ropes.
They manage to run and after a good amount of time they hid on the rooftop of a rundown resto "Chun! Shouldn't we go to a doctor" Xue sobs at the state she was in but she continues to lie down "I'm fine, don't worry" she wheezed out "But there's blood everywhere" he trembled.
"I saw what was under Pei Xu's shirt, he was just slower than me and we were lucky. He already knows I can't abandon you so he'll use you against me...Come here and rest for a bit" they cautiously hugged each other for warmth.~~
"That's why I think him saying the kidnap part triggered her..we both almost lost our lives"
Ling Wu frowns "I hope those bastards got bad karma"
"Chun" Jiang Cheng noticed that her face was less flushed than before "I'll head up and rest, you guys should too"
Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian waved at the rest as they follow the girl "I'm not in the mood for games Wei Ying" she yawns.
"We just want to make sure you don't fall over from being drunk" Wei Wuxian explained "And I'm here to make sure both of you get to your rooms"
