章 43: Chapter 43: Underground

"Hey, wait up."

She might have been upset but she still wanted to set something straight with him at least that's what she thought.

"Hey, I said wait up." She called once again as she quickly hurried to his side.

She was glad that the work to the room on the farthest end of the hallway wasn't that short so she could get to talk to him before they got there.

She was able to get to him after a few seconds because he wasn't walking that fast and just as soon as she got there, she placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Why are you ignoring me? With everything that happened yesterday, I expected you to at least give me a response." She remarked. "Don't you know?"

"Know what?" He inquired.

"When two people manage to fight their way out of a life-threatening situation, they're expected to get closer." She disclosed.

"Is that so?" He responded.

He didn't even bother to look at her, he just kept moving forward with his gaze on the door on the farthest end of the hallway.

Getting that response from him, she let out a deep sigh before rolling her eyes.

"Is that really all you have to say?"

"What else do you expect me to say?"

"Huh? You were a lot more talkative yesterday." She retorted.

"I wouldn't describe that as being talkative but I still sort of regret talking that much."

"Regret it?" She uttered with a baffled expression on her face. "You probably didn't get much love as a child. " She mumbled.

"What was that?"

"Never mind, it's nothing." She shook her head.

He obviously heard what she said but since she claimed that it was nothing, he wasn't going to pursue it.

"Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for saving me yesterday, I was thinking that maybe we could be friends but you obviously don't want anything to do with me." She huffed before walking faster to get ahead of him.

Well, it didn't matter since they had already gotten to the door which slowly began to open by itself.

While the two were waiting for the entrance to fully open, they suddenly heard a slam and just as they walked into the room, they were able to identify the source of the slam.

"I'm not here for this Gravin."

"Huh? Vice Principal Claire?" She turned her gaze to the left where the voice came from to see that it was indeed her but she was cornered against the wall by Gravin, that was where the wall slam came from.

She seemed to be ready for work as she was in her suit but the only thing Gravin seemed to have on was a brown robe.

"Oh, the classic wall slam," Arsha muttered.

"Um….what are you two doing?" Claudia inquired with a puzzled expression on her face.

"I think you should close your eyes for this one," Arsha remarked.

She didn't find that statement amusing as she turned to him looking annoyed.

"What do you mean I should close my eyes? I'm seventeen and I know you're not any older than that."

"Oh, hey you two, I see you're already here."

Claire used that opportunity to slip away from him and now that she was away from him, she quickly hurried to the exit with the files in her hand.

"Miss Claire," Claudia called just as she walked past her to get to the door.

"Yes, dear." She responded before turning to her.

"I don't mean to intrude but what are you doing here this early in the morning?"

"Oh, I just came to pick up some stuff from that idiot." She responded with a smile before turning to Gravin with a death glare.

"You mean the files in your hand?"

"Yes." She replied before placing her hand on her head. "So, don't overthink it, bye."

She left through the exit after that and now it was just the two of them and Gravin in the room.

The room looked like some sort of base of operation with three large screens spanning across the area and a control unit on the farthest end of the room.

Other than those, there was a table in the middle with four chairs around it and something that appeared to be a fridge in the left corner.

That was everything in the room, other than those, the room looked quite empty with the middle being completely free, although there was something strange about it.

"Hey, you two, you showed up quite early." The teacher said as he moved closer to them.

"Well, you called us out early," Claudia replied.

"Yeah, that's right."

He stood there and observed their faces for a while before pulling his phone out of his pocket.

"So how are you doing now, Arsha?" He inquired with his gaze fixated on his phone.

"I'm okay now." He responded.

"That's good but I guess it's not a surprise ." He remarked before turning away from them. "We're going this way."

Claudia was a bit confused so she wanted to ask Arsha a question but he was already behind Gravin.

"Come on." She sighed before quickly following them.

Gravin kept walking till he got to the center of the room and once he was there, he slipped his phone back into his pocket.

"Okay, so what are we supposed to be doing here?" Claudia inquired with a suspicious look on her face.

Gravin turned to her with a smile at that moment before turning to the floor.

"Hey Luna, we're coming down." He said before turning his gaze back to Claudia. "I promised you rewards for capturing the beast so we're going to get them now."

"Yeah, but who's Luna?"

The three of them quickly got covered by some kind of dome at that moment and before she knew it, they were moving down.

'What is going on?'

Arsha also had the same question in mind but he was sure he was going to explain once.

The two just stood there in silence as they were moved down by this strange elevator and just about a minute later, the thing stopped moving and the dome retracted revealing their destination.

Both of them found the room above being that empty to be strange but they knew why now, this was the actual laboratory.

There were a lot of equipment lined up accordingly on the farthest end of the room, there was a computer with a huge monitor above by the left and there were a couple of chemicals in the huge cabinet by the right.

The room here definitely looked like it was being used for something but that wasn't Claudia's concern.

There was something in the middle something huge standing in the middle of the room and she clearly recognized it.

It was the peacock, for some reason, its train seemed to have grown back and it seemed to staring furiously at her at the moment.

"Umm….Sir. Gravin." She gulped.

"Yes."

"That thing is confined, right?"

Before Gravin could answer that question, the beast let out a screech, and with that came three fireballs flying straight at her now.

"Seriously."
