章 111: Chapter 111 (edited)

Kara's life has returned to peace again. Many people might think that the DC Universe is full of disasters and dangers, but that's not entirely true—except for Gotham City.

Kara lives in Metropolis, and the city is not plagued with the kind of chaos Gotham endures. There's no equivalent of Arkham Asylum there, and Metropolis stands as a beacon of honesty and order.

Kara's column has also gained momentum.

Since the sensation caused by her first issue about pig intestines, Kara has become a popular food critic, with each of her columns attracting countless loyal readers.

The entire Metropolis has embraced the habit of following Kara's recipes weekly, eagerly awaiting her latest culinary creations. Her recipes, which span a variety of international cuisines, have brought joy and excitement to her readers.

Through Kara's columns, Metropolis residents enjoy the specialties of different cultures without ever leaving their city. Businesspeople have even begun capitalizing on the trends she sets, speculating on ingredients based on her featured recipes.

For example, if she writes about preparing beggar's chicken, the prices of chicken-related ingredients spike the next day. If she showcases a steamed fish recipe, the prices of all kinds of fish soar.

No one expected a food column to wield such influence over the city's economy and culture.

Meanwhile, Kara has been keeping an eye on Clark's budding relationship with Lois. She supports Clark's efforts to pursue Lois and notices subtle progress between them.

Clark, however, often gets flustered when Kara teases him about it. Having been relatively shy and reserved until college, Clark only began forming deep friendships, with Lois being his first real romantic interest—though they haven't officially started dating yet.

Kara, on the other hand, is completely different.

She's also made a few trips to Gotham City over the past year.

Since the Joker incident, nearly a year has passed, and time seems to have flown by.

Jennifer has remained in Gotham City, as Kara predicted.

Jennifer has fully settled into life with Bruce. A little over two months ago, Jennifer gave birth to a healthy baby boy, named Damian Wayne. Kara jokingly nicknamed him "Rice."

As Bruce and Jennifer's firstborn, Damian holds a special place in their family. Bruce worked tirelessly over the past year to win Jennifer's heart and convince her of his sincerity.

Eventually, Jennifer accepted his proposal, and a modest diamond ring now adorns her finger. Jennifer, being Gotham's Chief Justice, insisted on keeping the ring understated—she didn't want to give the impression of impropriety.

If it were up to Bruce, he'd have presented her with a diamond the size of a boulder.

The couple's journey to marriage was marked by challenges, but they emerged stronger. Meanwhile, Kara became Damian's godmother, a title that made Dani immensely jealous.

Dani, busy with her own endeavors, couldn't attend the christening but called Jennifer to offer her congratulations. "Next time, I'm claiming the godmother role," Dani teased, eyeing Jennifer's potential second child.

Bruce, overhearing the conversation, appeared thoughtful. Over the past year, he had shed his playboy persona and remained wholly devoted to Jennifer.

Jennifer, however, firmly shook her head at Bruce's unspoken thoughts. "Don't even think about it," she said with a playful glare.

Kara, holding baby Damian, rolled her eyes at the couple's flirting and left the room to give them privacy.

Despite her own love for the child, Kara remains a steadfast bachelor. She knows that the DC Universe is fictional, and the idea of falling in love with someone from this world seems absurd to her.

Damian isn't just her godson—he feels like her own son. Kara cradled the baby with affection, a rare softness in her expression.

Dani, too, has hinted at wanting children, particularly a daughter. However, she seems to be busy with something important lately, and Kara couldn't help but feel curious.

After trying to call Dani and failing to reach her, Kara's concern grew. When Dani finally returned the call, she explained, "I was inside a secure facility. Strong security measures blocked my phone signal. What's up?"

"I was just wondering what you've been up to," Kara said.

Dani hesitated before revealing, "We've discovered an alien. But keep this between us."

Kara blinked in surprise. "An alien? Like me?"

"No, this one's dead," Dani clarified. "We're studying the remains. He looked human, but he wore green tights."

Kara relaxed slightly. It didn't seem related to Clark. Still, curiosity lingered in her mind as she wondered what other secrets the universe might hold.

Kara did not expect Dani to bring such unexpected news to her.

Aliens?

She was taken aback, her mind racing, wondering if her true origin had been exposed.

Little did Dani realize how close she had come to accidentally revealing Kara's secret.

If this conversation had gone differently—Dani exclaiming, "Kara, I found aliens!" and Kara replying, "I am one."—it would have been a disaster.

At that moment, Alfred entered the room.

They were definitely still at Wayne Manor. Jennifer had moved in after giving birth to Damian.

Jennifer had no family in Gotham, and her parents likely didn't even know she had a child.

It wasn't intentional; she simply didn't know how to explain everything that had happened.

"Are Master Bruce and Miss Jennifer in there?" Alfred asked, already treating Jennifer as the lady of the house.

Kara shrugged. "I think you'd better leave them alone for now. They might be planning to add another member to the family."

Alfred gave her a knowing nod, then turned to look at the baby boy sleeping in Kara's arms. His eyes glistened with tears.

No matter how many times he saw Damian, Alfred couldn't hold back his emotions. Raising Bruce had been an honor, and now seeing the next generation of Waynes felt like a miracle.

Kara smiled and gently handed the child over so Alfred could hold him.

She then left, deciding not to disturb Bruce and Jennifer. Of course, her definition of "not disturbing" was loose, as she pushed open the door to their room.

Jennifer and Bruce were deep in conversation, discussing how Jennifer should break the news to her family.

"Jen, you're going to have to tell them eventually. If your parents find out you've had a child without telling them, you're going to be in serious trouble," Kara warned.

Jennifer sighed, running a hand through her hair.

She didn't even know where to begin. She had only been in Gotham for a year, and now she had a child with Bruce Wayne, of all people. How would her parents react?

And worse, she and Bruce weren't married yet. That fact alone would be hard for her conservative family to accept.

"They're going to scold me to death," Jennifer muttered, looking distressed.

Bruce wrapped an arm around her shoulders, his voice filled with warmth. "Then let's get married first. Once we're married, we can tell them together."

Jennifer pushed him away, glaring. "Are you insane? If I show up married without even telling them, they'll disown me on the spot."

She was right, of course. Her parents would be furious if they were left out of something as monumental as their daughter's wedding. Tradition demanded that the father give the bride away—a moment Jennifer knew her family wouldn't want to miss.

"You're just going to have to tell them the truth," Kara said simply. "It was an accident, sure, but they'll understand eventually."

Jennifer bit her lip. "But I feel bad for Damian. It feels like I'm saying he wasn't wanted."

Bruce spoke softly, squeezing Jennifer's hand. "Not an accident—destiny."

Kara groaned, throwing her hands up. "Ugh, I'm choking on all this sweetness. Am I here just to witness this public display of affection?"

She turned to leave, muttering under her breath about how couples like them should consider the feelings of single people.

Still, she had to admit, Bruce's ability to win Jennifer back with sincerity and charm was impressive.

Kara decided to tease someone else to lighten her mood. She dialed Clark.

"Clark, I'm officially ordering you to get things moving with Lois. Have a kid already so I'm not the only godparent around here!"

"Sis, Lois is right here," Clark hissed before hurriedly ending the call.

Kara laughed, shaking her head. Some things never changed.

At Wayne Manor, the evening carried on. Kara took over the kitchen, preparing an elaborate dinner to celebrate Damian's arrival.

The gathering was small—just family. Jennifer had insisted on keeping it private. She felt Damian was too young to be introduced to outsiders yet, wanting to avoid any risks to his fragile health.

Even close friends like Harvey and Rachel weren't invited. Jennifer didn't mind, but Bruce had struggled with the decision, wanting to share his joy with everyone he cared about.

In the end, they compromised, deciding to wait until Damian was a little older.

For now, it was a quiet family celebration, with Kara joking and teasing to keep things lively.

But just as they were finishing dinner, Kara's phone buzzed urgently. The ringtone seemed more urgent than usual, sending a chill down her spine.

She answered quickly.

"Kara," Dani's voice came through, weak and laced with panic. "Help me."
