章 29: Building forces. Prelude to gang war.

"I understand. But maybe we should have a few others here to help." J'onn was not to optimistic about the formation Max placed below. It stretched across the entire island and would activate at a moment notices. "The red lamps seem powerful in any case. I feel stronger."

"Yeah.. mimics the rays of a Red Sun. With a simple switch by myself, of course. I can redirect it around the area." Max finished reworking the cables. With a placing of a new viewfinder and a wireless connection to a screen 30 feet away, he would be able to see more in the Phantom Zone. "Alright power time."

J'onn floated the power conduit over. His hands were still busy messing with the Yo-Yo. He enjoyed the toy immensely. Max did not tell him about Yo-Yo competitions. That will be something for him to find out on his on.

*Dooooo!* The Phantom Projector turned on and showed on the view screen. The screen showed red with a black outline of bodies. Some Male the others Female.

"Who are you!?" A masculine voice called. The others paying attention in an instant. They floated or wander over to the side. A total of five at first glance. But others were moving over to them slowly. "I demand to speak with the Council of Elders!"

"Oh dear, you seem to misunderstand." Max's voice came out cold. Despite the difference of dimensions, the residents could tell they need to tread lightly. His voice he against them mentally in the Phantom Zone. "Tell me your names and we will go from there. Afterward, I might let you out. The Phantom Projector is still powering up."

"I am Jaz-Ur of Krypton." Another masculine voice said. That voice got Max's attention. The female frame near him had to be Mala. The build looked to be right anyway. Long hair for the ponytail she sports. "I am a former General of Krypton that tried to get them to see the error of their ways. It did not end well at all."

"I am his second in command Mala." The female said.

Bother were from the Superman the animated serious. Both of them did not have a happy ending. Jealousy and thinking they were better than others cause the problem for them. More than once from what he remembered.

"I know of you two. It would be best you think things over for a bit. Krypton is gone and the one who sent you here is dead long ago. Died trying to convince your foolish people that Brainiac was causing problems. The little Doomsday help A.I. accelerated the destruction of your planet. Which destroyed several neighboring planets and orbiting stations." Max said it all in one go. A few of the other figures moved noticeably.

"All.. of Krypton is gone..." Jax-Ur said lost but angered. Mala next to him seemed to weep in a way.

"You simply believe this thing? It hides itself like a coward. I am General Zod. These.."

"Shut up." Max commanded. The psyche of General Zod started to fluctuate. Max was trying to decide if he should just scatter him completely but that would be rude. "You are an idiot to start angering the one who has the key to your release. Most of you have your sentences finished. Countless millennia has passed since the destruction of your planets or your arrival."

"Please, forgive him." Another woman said. Next to Zod were two people. Most likely Ursa and Non from the Superman movies. The original movies from back in the day that was pretty good for comics renditions and expanding on lore. Max thought so anyway. "The shock of all of our loved ones gone is most shocking."

Non said nothing. Defintely fitting the profile of a silent type. Consider an imbecile but Max didn't think so with the way things were. Seem to judge what was going on and waiting for a chance for something.

"I am Raya. I was on Krypton before it blew up. I worked as an assistant to a scientist. For freedom from what was going on, I helped smuggled things to him. Not enough time for me to leave as the planet started erupting green geysers. The planet started to detonate faster after that. The countdown went from hours to minutes. I was placed in the Phantom Zone as a last resort." Another female voice said.

After some thought, Max realized she was from the tv show Smallville most likely. The area that covered Clark Kent's teenage years to young adult life. Her fate was death eventually so that was not to great. But then again, that was a long time from now. It would be up to her to change it.

"I have no name. Free me and I will fight for you." A masculine voice said. Max had no idea who that was just from that. As more gathered he made up his mind and sent contracts to each of them. They could be signed with mental thought of course.

"I am Murkk! I was only supposed to be here for a few decades. I didnt think what I stole was that big a deal. I only wanted to provide a place better than the stagnation we were forced under!" Another male voice said. Max only had a small inking of him.

"I will not be made some servant!' General Zod yelled in anger. Max thought it was odd. The man was supposed to be a very composed General and Tactician. Then again he had a very large outburst when he was sentenced. Or did he? Things were fuzzy in that department of his own memory. "Free me and I will conqueror the Universe for you. A small place at my side of course."

"Nah, I'm good." Max exchanged a few more words before turning the projector off. "That was a trip." J'onn nodded in agreement. A few minutes later it turned back on as a few had signed contracts.

*Dooop!* Raya, Mala, Jax-Ur, Ursa, Non, Murkk, and the unidentified man popped out.

A mark appeared on their hands that burned for a second before vanishing. Max created food for and water for each of them. As he explained in further detail their purpose. Earth's yellow sun would give them strength but they were not to cause trouble on Earth. It was a place for them to rest as they went to deal with things out in space.

Better yet, he told them to colonize Venus if they wanted something of their own.

"Freedom and this power!" Jax-Ur shouted. He gave Max a quick look over but did not try anything. Not wanting to test the confines of the contract just yet. 'Even with the abilities, I can not see his face or really the outline. In a matter of microseconds, it shifts.'

"It is something yes." Ursa mumbled. She looked at the Phantom Projector before it vanished with a wave of Max's hand. "Even with this new strength, we are not invincible. And worse, the creatures you mention are dangerous as well."

"We will crush them in no time." Mala said excited. She was a soldier and that was all she knew. 'What does Jax-Ur have a plan for us. Surely with our power, it wouldn't take long to rule over them.'

"I am not a fighter. But I will help as I can. You said science needs help right?" Raya asked Max. He gave her a nod. "Alright, I will gladly help in that department in earnest."

"Ah, Titan." Max said to the unknown man. He was a character from the Smallville Tv show. A bit of a bruiser and expert fighter. A deadly one at that. The only thing he lived for until he was killed. By the... Max turned to J'onn and hoped it would not come to that. "How about the name Brutus?"

"Brutus it is. What do you need of me now?"

"Nothing. You need to learn and fit in. Or you can go with Jax-Ur in space. Up to you in that regard." Max gave a shrug.

"I will go with him for now." Titan nodded. "He looks like fun." Jax-Ur grabbed Brutus by the arms and they flew off into space.

"Well not going with Mala?" Max turned and asked. "This band will regulate your power to a more human level. A variety of fighting styles exist on earth. Learning them can help you fight better latter. Right now, killing in public is a no go." He waved his finger after passing the bracelet over.

"No." Her voice was dry and very angry. Jax-Ur left without barely of a whisper to her. "I will stay here and learn more. The freedom from the ways of Krypton is nice. But I want action! Lots of action!"

"Right." Max opened a mirror for Murkk and Raya to go through. Murkk was just a small time crook that got caught. His sentence was by far the worse given. Especially with all that he had done was only a year sentence. He mostly was screwed by timing and a few insults to the Elders. "Ids and paperwork are waiting for you two. Adjust for the next few days before leaving out. Instructions will come to you shortly."

After the two left all that remained were Mala, Ursa, and Non. Mostly was because Non had something to ask Max.

"Are you a bad man?"

"Yes, I am. A bad man for good reasons." Max said kindly. "I want to protect my planet. The same as most creatures do. As well as enjoying my life till the time is up. Your planet may be gone but that does not mean all your people are gone. Over the years you will run into them again. I assure you."

"But we are still so few." Ursa said. Mala just floated above not saying anything. "Then the creature responsible has one of our cities. Will you assist us when it arrives?"

"Most defintely. I do not like Brainiac I defintely do not want it taking a city from Earth while wiping the planet out. It is a malfunctioning piece of crap that needs to be put down. When we have the chance we will restore your people. Just will take a few decades." Max said.

"Then you are a bad man but good." Non reached for a handshake. Max returned it with no problem. "Strong grip." his voice was gruff but a smile was on his face. The loyalty to Zod was there but that didnt mean he wouldn't enjoy his life. 'General Zod said wait. So will wait.'

"I will do my best to help them understand Earth laws. That I assure you." J'onn said. He changed his appearance in front of them to help them understand he was not normal. The same as they were. "I am one of the last surviving Martians that is free. A pleasure to meet you all."

As the three conversed, Max was talking with the A.I.

(The Triad is causing trouble. A good time to deal with them. As well as an introduction.) The A.I. intoned.

'Introduction?' Max's head cocked to the side which did not go unnoticed by the Kryptonians. They were all trained soldiers even with the long years of captivity they had adjusted faster than what was predicted.

(The League of Shadows. Better you deal with them as Max and not the Watcher. It is time to grow your influence as a corporate move maker.) The A.I. voice sounded a little chipper. A personality was developing the more Max took in power. (The Triad have made a big mistake in fighting the League of Shadows.)

'Haaa, breakthrough later then.' Max looked at the others. It was stupid to use them right now. Not trained and not ready. He shook his head no coming to that decision. "I have to attend to some things. Please, relax in this place."

*Doop!* Max jumped into a mirror gone. Two more mirrors were left behind for them to use or stay on the island.

"Oh that looks intresting." Mala coed seeing the image in the mirror. Taskmaster was throwing pucks that exploded at Gordon and Hill. The two were good but not as good as Taskmaster.

Hill was on the radio trying to coordinate with backup. But no luck there. It was a setup to get them killed after all. All backup was sent somewhere else. Slade and the others were dealing with the actual shipment the Triad tried to sneak pass with.

Whatever happened on the radio caused Gordon and Hill to get their truck and drive away. Taskmaster took off in a sprint towards warehouse. The Triad would pay for this. He stopped looking at a young teen in slacks a black shirt and vest.

Mala exitement grew. Something about the teen sent chills through her. Ursa watched out the corner of her eye with Non. J'onn speech had stopped to address the to.

"That is another of our people. The teen I mean. Not the other one. Why he is making a move, I have no idea."

-Gotham Warehouse-

.

"Hi." Max said with a smirk. "Her you have a Triad problem. Time to remedy it. They are a problem for me as well."

"A kid." Taskmaster said gruffly. It was a general statemnt nothing more. Max reeked of danger. "Who are you?"

"Just call me Max. Just another movemaker in Gotham. Nice to meet you Lawrence Crock. A.K.A. taskmaster. Member extrodinaire of the League of Shadows." Their was no bullshitting with the man. So Max didn't. Just a few cards on the table to deal with the League would go a long way. "How about we have a talk?"

"I am listening." Taskmaster guard didn't drop. In fact, he was more wary. Max new information only the darkest of government agencies knew. As well as the dangerous of organizations. 'I need to make sure she gets away. By time. If need be, take the kid hostage if the cops come around.'

*Bang!* Max lightly punched the garbage bin in the alley.

"If you think you can take me... or use me as a hostage, bad idea. i have killed better than you. Would you like to try instead of talk things over?" Max voice was calm as he spoke. The smile on his face disarming but the presecnce was bloody from his spiritual aura.
