Chapter 12 - If You Erase The 'Over' In Overlord, It Becomes Lord.

Written By Dr Armstrong

— - [Amon's POV] - —

'God fucking damn it.' He cursed the Author by using God's name in vain as the Angel witnessed the unholy sight before him.

He really did raise a comedically humongous ass red flag...whoever controls the fate of this multiverse really was a grade-A asshole.

Yes, those Zombies couldn't fly, that was an objective fact.

But was there any reason against a Bird turning Undead?

If it was one of those Zombie Apocalypse worlds with the Zombie virus, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad...

But in a world of swords and magic like this one, an Undead with wings could still fly normally, even if the wings in question were just bones.

"Caw!!!" A half-rotten corpse of a blue-eyed Crow with two pairs of black-feathered wings barked from above as the rest of its compatriots followed suit, attracted by the Angel's dominating life force.

There were only about 7 of these monsters...Bone Crows, the Angel decided to call them.

The murder of Bone Crows circled atop the Angel's levitating yet stationary form, like Murder Hornets attracted by an exotically-coloured lava lamp.

'What a bunch of wannabe Vultures...literally, what's stopping them from just attacking me...' He lampooned internally as Amon looked upwards at the ragtag team of Corvid cadavers.

It seems that these Bone Crows shared a common pattern of behaviour known as the scavenger's mentality. This forest was filled with boney Undead, Undead which hated living creatures oh so god damn much...

Amon who had the Extremis Virus continuously filling up his juvenile body with life force activity, which already had high amounts to begin with due to his Holy Soul, was like a RGB-coloured disco ball in a darkly lit room.

Pretty damn eyecatching.

So in a roundabout way, he was already destined for death. So there was no need for the Crows to make the effort of killing him themselves...

So yeah, stealth ain't an option anymore. In fact, it seems to have never been one in the first place...

'Look at the bright side, it just makes my job easier...' Amon reassured himself as he gave a wary glance toward the Crows.

"HONK!" He decided to open a parley with these skeletal abominations. They spoke the same primal language, after all.

"CAW!"

'Oh, fuck you too, you damn glorified cock!' Never mind, peace was never an option.

Amon launched himself against one of the skeletal Crows, it cawed out in surprise as his diagonal jaws clenched down against the rotting flesh.

Amon uses bite!

It was not very effective...

Ok, Undead don't taste good. No shit, Sherlock...

But wait, there's more!

"Get cooked!" He shouted out as heat started building inside the Angel's spherical body.

"CAW, CAW, CAW!!!" Are these your last words...? What a pathetic sight.

The burning burst of heat welled up inside him before Amon gave the most brutal yet satisfying backshot imaginable as the Crow was literally roasted from behind.

「You have slain a Necromantic Skeleton - Corvicure.」

「+1 Karma Point.」

Fatality!

"CAW!" The other Bone Crows howled in shock and despair as they saw one of their own become nothing more than a KFC meal, a damn rotten one at that...

Although they didn't seem to actually be really affected by their comrade's death—they actually seemed to be happy, what the fuck!?

Amon was quite tempted to go full Doom Slayer on those depraved corvids...

...But wasting energy on a bunch of undead scavengers might not be the best idea, there could always be a purple T-Rex hiding behind that suspiciously humongous bush, after all.

He was still in the body of a child, an Angel child, but still a child nonetheless...not that it actually meant much, it only took like 3 months before an Angel grows into adulthood, after all.

It was an evolutionary feature shared with the Demons of the Abyss, as well as the reason for the often underdeveloped morality of Angels...yeah, most Angels that you would see are probably younger than you.

For now, he decided to ignore the skeletal murder and redirect his attention to a more important matter...killing more of the living dead who couldn't fight back.

「You have slain a Necromantic Skeleton - Goose.」

「+1 Karma Point.」

It turned out easier than expected. After all, Amon had long realized the Sisyphean nature of trying to stealth out a glorified game of COD Zombies with the enemy AI being able to see you on their minimap 24/7.

Yeah, stealth was not an option and never was. So he just decided to abandon all notions of it and started announcing his existence by firing a blast of light into the night sky, illuminating the dark firmament like some sort of celestial firework.

「You have slain a Necromantic Zombie - Grizzly Bear.」

「You have slain a Necromantic Zombie - Moose.」

「You have slain a Necromantic Skeleton - Moose Calf.」

「You have slain...」

「+12 Karma Points.」

And it worked flawlessly!

"Spectacular, let us commence forth!" He recklessly shouted out like a British maniac as he tried a little flair to his Undead massacre, he was getting quite bored.

Also, why was there nothing alive? Well, the plants still are—but that's obviously not what he meant!

Everything was Undead! Zombies, Skeletons, Ghouls...

It was like this was a fantasy world that revolved around the Undead...

There was one such world that perfectly fits that description, though that world should still be fully alive and well—it was the MC that was a Skeleton!

「You have slain a Necromantic Ghoul - Goblin.」

「+1 Karma Point.」

"Ooh, another Goblin! Looks like I found the trail..." Amon's distorted voice resounded through the foul odour in the air as he muttered to himself about the possibility of Goblinoid civilization.

Amon's dove-like wings fluttered about as his form descended from the sky with a relaxed pace, his multiple dozen eyes all focused on the grey-skinned and red-eyed Goblin corpse smeared across the dusty ground.

A sight that would have brought nausea to the former Alexander, yet the Angel Amon felt only pity when looking at this abominated green child brought back to life via the darkest magics known to man and gob. It was a mere victim to the circumstances that haunted this festering world of Undead.

Yet it served as solid proof of something more, something valuable; civilization. The Undead here weren't just rotting blobs of flesh and bone, they were fresh...

His theory about this being a dead world was most likely incorrect.

After further consideration, something like that shouldn't even be allowed to exist by the higher-ups of Heaven—yet this plane has not ceased in its existence, proving the possibility of still living remnants of civilization fighting the Undead crisis.

Or maybe it was just this forest that was corrupted and he was tripping balls, Who knows...

The Angel followed the visual trails left behind by the Goblinoid Ghoul, its footsteps, scratch marks, and other such things.

It led him to another part of the dead forest, one that was noticeably much more...uh, less of a forest? There were fewer trees and less plant life, the ground was also a lot more flat...

Perhaps this was the trail to where these Undead Goblins were coming from, but...

"What the fuck is this...I feel weird..." The Angel suddenly muttered to himself as he was overcome by a weird sensation like carrots dipped inside fresh wine, a weird and unnatural thing.

No, it wasn't that he felt weird, it was that he felt...uh, weird?

It was a peculiar sense of familiarity, the same feeling he got when he was in Heaven...just less...

But it was twisted in some way, disturbed, corrupted...

Not right.

He glanced back at the forest, now that place full of Undead didn't seem to be all bad—Actually, wasn't it a bit like Paradise for him? It was quite the reliable source of Karma Points, after all...

That's why he should...uh...

"I suddenly don't feel like coming anymore..." Amon trusted his guts. As an Angel, his premonitions were more likely to be accurate...indeed, perhaps they were just his natural instincts telling him to...

"I shouldn't be here." He shouldn't. In fact, he should be running away right this instant...

But...it seems to be a bit too late for that...

—BADUM~!*

His heartbeat skyrocketed like a rat being confronted by a lion cub, Amon was enveloped in deathly terror.

—BADUM~BADUM~BADUM~!*

Amon froze, yet he wanted nothing but to flee, skedaddle, retreat tactically, whatever you want to call it.

—BADUM~BADUM~BADUM~BADUM~BADUM~*

'Wait...isn't that...' Amon finally realized the true source of his sudden fear.

"...W-wait, what!?" The Angel's eyes widened in shock as he took in the sight before him.

The horizon was overwhelmed by a dark, insidious, yet weirdly familiar aura that had sprung out from a singular point. The surrounding forest retreated into the periphery of his consciousness as his mind focused solely on that familiar presence.

Of course, it was familiar. After all, the source was just like him...

An Angel!

This Angel was quite different from the others he had seen up until this point, it was an actual woman, an angelic girl!

The She-Angel levitated off of the ground by a few meters just like our protagonist, yet she did not move an inch from her original position.

A crown of various flowers adorned her head of blonde hair that trickled down all the way to her chest, covering her naked breasts for the sake of that sweet, sweet PG rating.

Although she wore no clothes that covered her upper body, a long black skirt effectively hid her lower body. Yet she might not even have a lower body, since there were no feet to be seen...

Instead of any legs, thighs, or even butt—she only had wings as her lower body, like some sort of wanna-be avian Centaur.

Her skin was enchanting and out of this world, it was translucent in some parts! Her skeleton could be seen behind her translucent flesh, yet the see-through nature of her body revealed a much weirder fact.

She lacked internal organs, although this could be attributed to the weird biology of Angels...

Yet there was something obviously very wrong with this Sister, her wings...

Why are they like that?

It was like...they weren't fully there. Just a fragment, a memory, a shadow...

A shadow...a...shadow...oh, shit—

The She-Angel suddenly moved her head, her eyes staring right into Amon's—one of his eyes...

"Sister...you are not there are you?" Her eyes were empty, not full of happiness, not of bliss, not of simple thought.

She wasn't an Angel, not anymore.

She was just a shadow.

—BAAAM~!*

A huge blast of light was sent out from Amon's diagonal jaws, the blinding brightness that was produced by the newly improved Flare burned through the hot air—it was a miniature nuclear blast that was kept from exploding, a Nuclear Flare...a DecaFlare.

But it wasn't directed at the Shadow, it instead travelled to the sky...only to be met with by a phantom mirror, one made of illusionary glitters.

—Ripple~Bounce~!*

And so, the force was doubled.

—HUMMMMM~!*

The Shadow did not even move as she beheld the blinding light that was coming in her direction like some sort of Kamehameha.

But before it could even manage to hit her...

She suddenly vanished, gone faster than the Author's father.

"What the fuck!?" The DecaFlare ended up hitting nothing as it just exploded against the ground, creating a very cool effect just without actually managing to accomplish anything...

'What a waste of energy...' Amon complained as he thought that the shadow had escaped to some other dimension or place.

He was quite wrong, she was just right behind him.

"Wait, what—" That's why you should never celebrate too early, dumbass.

—SHING~!*

Maybe if it wasn't for the plot armour, Amon would have already died by now...

===

"How's this chap? Sorry it took so long, last week was test week!" -Remark

Yes, he's in Overlord—but not exactly the Overlord you know...here's a hint: My greatest enemy is Suzuki Satoru.

I don't want to drop this book, so I'll start making OGs after it's over.
