STELLA’s POV

I bit my lower lip as I walked down the hallway with Tyler beside me, his hand intertwined with mine. My grip on the straps of my backpack tightened as I noticed peopled glance at us, earning murderous glares from the girls and stares from the boys. I could hear murmurs and whispers from the students as we passed by them.

No matter how much I prepared myself for this, I still felt uncomfortable and embarrassed, and nervous.

And when Tyler noticed me, struggling with my backpack because of too much nervousness, he took it from me and slung it over his shoulder.

“Tyler, give it back to me,” I whispered.

He shook his head, smiling, and pulled me gently but my steps stopped short as I saw something surprising. There in the hallway was Maxine and her partner in the ballroom, Jake.
