Ethan leaned against the wall of the training room; his arms crossed over his chest as he watched Avery spar with her opponent.
"You're leaving yourself wide open princess" he remarked, his voice cutting through the air like a whip as Avery struggled to maintain her footing.
She gritted her teeth, frustration boiling beneath the surface as she fought to prove herself
"I'm trying my best," she retorted, her voice tinged with annoyance as she lunged forward, her fist meeting nothing but air. She groans as she falls to the ground
"Well, your best isn't good enough," he shot back, his tone sharp as he circled around the ring from outside, his eyes fixed on her every move.
"Very encouraging" she murmured getting up from the ground with an eye roll
Aiden a short soldier came rushing to Ethan pulling him aside after giving a quick greeting to Avery.
She couldn't hear their conversion but she could tell it was very serious just by looking at their expressions.
Ethan turned to her his expression firm "Keep practicing" he said before turning away
"Is everything okay?" she asked genuinely concerned
"Just keep practicing" he replied quickly leaving the room along with Aidan

The tension in the air was strong as Lucas addressed his assembled soldiers in the dimly lit warehouse, his authoritative voice cutting through the silence like a knife.
"We're facing a new threat," Lucas began, with steely determination. "The deadly scorpions are encroaching on our territory and getting involved in our business, and we need to send them a message." He paused his gaze sweeping over the gathered faces suspicion in his eyes. "But that's not just it...we have a traitor among us"
An intense murmur rippled through the room as the lieutenants exchanged glances, their expression filled with confusion.
"This is my first and last warning to whoever the fuck is stabbing us in the back" Lucas continued his voice turning to a low growl "you better come up to me and die a brother or die a traitor" he hissed "meeting adjourned Ethan wait behind"
with that the soldiers leave the warehouse leaving Lucas and Ethan alone.

While the meeting was going on
After what felt like an hour of training Avery finally decided that Ethan wasn't going to come back anytime soon so she heads to her room tired her body aching all over
Alone in her quarters, Avery sank onto the edge of the bed, her mind swirling with conflicting emotions.
She had been thrust into the dangerous world of the mafia against her will, forced to navigate treacherous waters with no compass to guide her.
As she stared at her reflection in the mirror, Avery saw the weariness etched into her features, the weight of her newfound responsibilities bearing down on her like a heavy burden.
"I didn't ask for any of this," Avery whispered to herself, her voice barely above a whisper as she traced the lines of her face with trembling fingers. She tried to remain strong but how could she the constant gossips the fact that her 'father' had never checked up on her not even once…
loud banging on her door interrupts her thoughts
"Who's there" she asks but no one answers she sighs before getting up she opens the door gently but no one's there just a delivery box, confused she looks around but doesn't see anyone she picks up the box and shuts her door.
Placing the box on her bed she opens it.
Avery's POV
Once I look inside my heart beat increase, with shakings hands I bring a picture of myself with the word RUN written on it.
I fall to the ground with a scream not above a whisper gathering all the courage I have I put my hand back into the box bringing out the doll that had a knife stabbed in it chest
"Bl…bloo…blood" I scream shakenly letting it fall to the floor it was covered in blood and that's when I realized the word RUN was also written in blood
I scream and all I can remember after that was pitch darkness
