章 47: Hiring
While he was laughing like a maniac, Yu Xuelan stared at him indifferently, but deep down, his words surprised her.
"Well, he didn't actually eat her. I mean, he literally stole her spiritual core after her death and merged it with his own! While keeping her cultivation rank! How the heck does one even do that?!" He laughed to the point tears came out of his eyes.
"You see, I'm the only one who found out about this secret. That's why Yu Yang gave me this entire city to eat! He promised to cover up all the shit I do, and I'll keep that fucking secret. But seeing as how he sent you to destroy my lair and steal my food away, how should I expose his dirty lies? I don't even know why he bothered asking me to search for that human girl."
Bo Fan continued rambling on. Yu Xuelan's mind had already stopped processing his words after he mentioned that Yu Yang was searching for a human girl. She wasn't sure if he was referring to her because it would be extremely immature if Yu Yang was still searching for her after eight years.
"Why are you telling me this?" She asked.
He stopped his laughs and glared at Yu Xuelan, who sat there helplessly.
"How does it feel working for such a corrupted man?" He asked as a devilish grin split his face, teeth gleaming in the flickering lamplight. "Knowing that everything you have ever done, everything you had aspired to be, everything that you fought for with pride and admiration, was just for a malicious man who probably gives no shit towards his people?"
But I'm not working for him? Why would I work for a man that tried to kill me??
"Maybe instead of killing Si Shi, I should just destroy Yu Yang first? Or maybe just the entire HaiShen Yu Sect?"
"Si Shi?" Yu Xuelan muttered.
"You don't even know who he is?!"
Yu Xuelan shook her head, trying to remember why that name sounded familiar.
"He's the Sky Demon God! Were you like, dead for the past few years?!" He exclaimed and slapped his face with his palm in annoyance.
"Mn, I kind of was."
An awkward silence loomed over them before Bo Fan cleared his throat to stop the quietness.
"He's just bird shit! Bird shit! I want him to disappear from both the demonic realm and the mortal world!" He spat and stomped on the ground.
Yu Xuelan raised her brows in amusement. She never thought this one conversation would reveal so much about the state of the world after her death. Perhaps getting captured by the Earth Demon God was worthwhile, after all. Only if she doesn't die in the end.
At that moment, he narrowed his eyes even more and continued studying the girl's face. He tilted his head in confusion before walking back to his chair and rummaging through the pile of skulls, pulling out a scroll.
Is he going to draw out his secret recipe?
He straightened out the scroll painting and darted his eyes back and forth between the scroll and the girl. Yu Xuelan blinked confusedly while he continued to walk closer and put the scroll next to her face, examining the two in comparison.
"Is there something wrong?" She asked.
He widened his eyes and exclaimed, "What the heck?! You're the girl that the bastard wanted me to find?!"
Yu Xuelan wasn't even surprised at this point since she expected this to happen. Yu Yang had told Bo Fan to find her in return for covering up his misdeeds at Hufeng City. But she thought it was strange that Yu Yang knew Lin Yuhe's face. Maybe she made a careless mistake when she was at Xiao Village or the Feather Temple, that someone gave a tip to him.
Hm, I should've been more careful...
Bo Fan rubbed his chin in absolute confusion as he tried to make sense of everything.
Soon, a smile formed on his face once again and muttered, "I see. I see. I see now. You are a threat to him."
Yu Xuelan watched the demon grin gruesomely, lowering her eyes in deep thought.
"I never knew that Yu bastard wanted to kill such a destructive tool. How about I keep you instead since he doesn't want you anymore?" He snickered.
She raised her brows and uttered, "Destructive tool?"
"I've seen the way you cultivate. It's quite weird if I say so myself, but you are definitely stronger than the other curly-haired cultivator." He licked his lips and grinned, "You will become great use!"
Yu Xuelan tilted her head and remained silent.
"You're going to work under me!"
