His request and dismissal should have bothered him, but it didn't. It was his own actions, or rather inaction, that angered him. He listened to the shower turn on and his shoes to fall to the floor. If she joined him, she would be a satisfied wolf wife, but she couldn't. It would be like sacrificing her to the evil wolf Viki. He couldn't stand the thought that the pack leader would kill him.

When Bella didn't join Diana in the bathroom, she knew she'd try hard to convince her that she was the only one for her, but she wasn't giving up. Then she thought of it. What was she doing the whole time she was gone?

She finished her shower, grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her waist.

She hurried back to her office and checked her email. Not believing that She had invited half the world to a dance club that night, she read the messages she had sent in response to the red wolf invitation. Even more worrying was the cryptic message Argos had given him.
