Sitting back in my chair, I whispered to Vince and Greg, "Ellis is good. Really good. I wonder how Cook's going to win this one, or if Ellis will tear his case apart."
Both of them nodded, their eyes fixed on the courtroom. We all wanted the same thing: for Mr. Salud to be found guilty. We believed he was responsible for Stephanie's death, but we couldn't ignore the fact that Ellis was doing a damn good job of casting doubt.
Still, no matter how good Ellis was, I hoped the evidence would speak louder than her words. We wanted justice for Stephanie. But the truth was, in this courtroom, it wasn't always about the truth. It was about who could convince the jury. And right now, I wasn't sure who that would be.
