章 14: Chapter 14
As I thought, Julian's rehab got extended. He got caught smoking again with a five year clean patient. So he not only fucked up himself but someone who was doing really good.
We've been let out on days when we finished training. Not everyone had finished training. I was one of the very few. So I planned to eat at a restaurant. An Italian restaurant. I walked in and I was greeted by a woman. She smiled.
"How many?" She asked
"Just me." I say
"There will be a thirty minute wait... Are you okay with that?" She asked
"I'm fine." I say
"Name?" She asked going behind the counter and flipping through the pages
"Parker." I say
"And last." She asked
"That's my last my first name is Adena." I say
"I heard about you somewhere, anyway I'll call you when your tables ready." She smiled
"Thank you." I smiled
I walked over to the waiting area and sat down. I took my phone out of my purse and checked the time,
4:57
Okay. I can do this. Then my stomach growled so loud it could have been mistaken for an attack on the guests. I sat awkwardly. I turned my phone on and when on a game and played that to occupy my time. Until I got a text.
Myles: hey what r u doing in ur free time?
Adena: sitting at a Italian restaurant downtown.
Myles: sounds fun
Adena: yeah. I guess
Myles: have fun.
Adena: thx
I sat in the chair for what felt like five hours. I just sat and sat until...
"Parker party of one." Says the woman
I stand up and walk towards her.
"Make that party of two." Said a voice
I turned to see Myles. I smiled. The woman guided us to our table and we sat. She handed us our menus and Myles and I looked at them. She walked off to serve other tables.
"Why are you here?" I ask
"Well I finished training early like you, and I had no one to hang out with so I texted you discreetly found out where you where and caught up with you." He smiled
"Tell me why your really here." I smirked
"I just told you." He chuckled
I loved his laugh. It made me smile every time I made him laugh.
"So no other reason?" I ask
"Nope none at all." He smiled
"Sure." I smiled
Then the waiter came over.
"Hello I'm James and I'll be your server." He said clicking his pen
"Your Travis' older brother?" I ask
"Yes I am, you know him?" He asked
"I'm Adena Parker, we all are in the ports lab together." I say as I held out my hand for him to shake it but he never took it
"That's cool, what would you like?" He asked quickly changing the subject
"Chicken Alfredo." I answer
"To drink?" He asked
"Blue raspberry lemonade." I say
James wrote it down on his pad and glanced over to Myles.
"And for you?" He asked
"The same please." Myles answered
James wrote on the pad.
"Anything else?" He asked
"No thank you." I smile
James walked off to the kitchen. Myles looked at me. I looked at him. Not a word was exchanged. He sat with his hands folded on top of the table. Mine where laid flat on the table on both sides of the plate that sat in front of me.
Then James came with our food.
I picked up my fork and poked at my chicken. I desperately wanted the silence to end. It was mentally tearing me apart. The only problem is I don't know what to say. Them my mouth just took control.
"This is good isn't it?" I ask wanting to know how he thought
"Yeah, it's really good." Myles smiled
Soon our plates where empty. James came by and took our plates. I sat and drank my blue raspberry lemonade. Myles did the same. We waited for James to bring the bill. James walked by and set the bill with the cardholder down.
I picked up my small purse and rummaged through it for my card. By the time I had found it Myles had his in the card in the card holder and James just had picked it up and walked away to scan it. I put my card back into my wallet. I put my purse in my lap. I looked at Myles who smiled at me.
"Why'd you pay?" I ask
"Because I'm the guy in this situation and the guys are supposed to pay to be polite." Myles said
"I know, thank you... But you know what it doesn't matter." I say
"Good." He smiled
James came back. He handed Myles his card. Myles took his wallet out and put it back in. We walked out. Myles guided me to his car. He opened the door and I sat down and buckled in. He walked around to the drivers side and got in.
Just as he buckled in I started to talk.
"You know this suspiciously feels like a date." I say facing him
At this time he was getting his keys from his pocket. At first I thought he had ignored me. Than he faced me.
"What would you think if it was?" He asked
"It can't be a date without ice cream." I say
"Ice cream it is then." He said twisting the key and starting the car
He drove down to the closest place for ice cream. He got out and and opened his door. I unbuckled. He came around and opened the door for me. I smiled. He took my hand and we walked in. I peered down at the glass and read the labels. There was coffee ice cream.
"What would you like?" He asked
"The coffee please." I say
"I'll have mint chocolate chip and she'll have the coffee." He said to the man behind the counter
He scooped the ice cream. Myles paid and handed me mine. We walked out. We sat in the car and ate our ice cream. He turned on the radio. I immediately recognized the song by the intro.

It was welcome to the black parade by My chemical romance. Even though they broke up six years ago on March 22, 2013 I still enjoy their music. It makes me wanna cry but I still listen to them. Myles went to switch the station.
"I like this song." I say
"You do?" He asked
"Yeah." I say
"Wow." He smiled
"Wow what?" I asked
"I just didn't expect you to like them." He said
"What's that supposed to mean." I say as I lick the cone so the ice cream didn't drip
"I just didn't expect that out of you... I mean I thought you liked pop music but you actually have a taste for music." He says
"Wait... You like my chemical romance?" I ask
He reached over to open the glove compartment. It opened and revealed all of the my chemical romance CDs, fall out boy, Panic! At the disco, twenty one pilots, Linkin park, pierce the veil, and sleeping with sirens.
"You just became my favorite person in the world... Right next to Lola." I say
"Wow... I didn't know music was the way to your heart." He laughed
"What's your favorite album of MCR?" I ask
"It's between danger days and three cheers for sweet revenge." He answers
"Mine too." I say, "my favorite song on three cheers is the ghost of you."
"Mine getting me black parade?" He asked
"Sure." I say
I reached for black parade. I put it in the CD player. It was on shuffle. But it wasn't playing.
"Why isn't it playing?" I ask
"It's blood." We say together
About a minute and thirty-two seconds in to the song it started playing. We laughed. We were having fun just in each others company alone. I finished my ice cream Myles had finished before me.
"Where to next?" He asked
"I don't know." I shrug
"You know I saw this conspiracy theory that MCR is supposed to get back together this year." I say
"Why? What's so special about this year?" He asked
"Well the Gerard said he wanted to band to be like smashing pumpkins... They where together twelve years and broke up for six and got back together. My chemical romance was together twelve this year marks six years, and in Na Na Na and Sing music videos they where both set in 2019 this year... So it's a possibility." I say
"Now don't get my hopes up." He said as he pulled out of the parking lot and to the main roads.
"Sorry, I just want a chance to see them... When they where a band I didn't get to see them play... It's always going to be a goal of mine to see them live." I say
"Mine too." He smiled
We pulled up to ports labs. We walked in and eyes where on us. We looked to each other.
"What?" I ask
They all feel silent.
"What's going on?" I ask
"Julian..." Said one
"What about Julian?" I asked
"Julian overdosed." Cried mom
