章 7: A Noble Battle

(Korosu POV)

After we left left the tavern I was still a little suspicious about the "ordinary" bartender that we know as Kumo. The first thing that is off is the previously abandoned broken down tavern was made good as new with no one noticing in less than a day which shouldn't be possible.

There are other things too like how calm he was when we tried to rob him and also the delicious food. I'm not a glutton but for a beginner bartender he makes good food and ale.

His apparent background is also a little off and strange. He even had a high ranking invisibility cloak which he should not even be able to have in his possession. He said the reason he had such an item was that he was a famous adventurer that was cursed and went into retirement but that doesn't make sense.

He has enough strength to to put the entire crew to shame in our 'professional strength measuring exercise'. With that kid of strength he would have had no need to retire. However he let use eat there even though we are criminals so I won't ask questions, for now at least.

When we decide which Noble to steal from based on what they've done. It might not be a very thief like thing to do but we got to be careful. We live in the commoner's district and we wouldn't want to steal from one of the nobles that are trying to make this place better and make him angry.

Then they wouldn't help the peasants anymore which in return would just make our lives more difficult. It's a really annoying process too as we have to really spy on them to get information on them making our heists be few and far between.

The noble we are robbing tonight based on our research is hoarding some money that should be for the commoners, some pretty cliché stuff if you ask me. Don't get the wrong idea though, we're not stupid, we don't take from the rich and give to the poor. We keep it all for us and only us.

Another reason we are robbing them is it is basically the most secluded mansion possible which is just dumb. If you are so rich you're want to be close to society so you could ask for help. Overall this person dumb and the only reason he has guards is because our spy was overheard by a maid when talking about robbing the place.

The nobles name is Hoshī Subete Okane, speaking of names for some reason every time someone introduced themselves to Kumo he always snickers at their name which I find very strange. Some of my crew's names are very honorable and shouldn't make someone want to laugh at them.

At first we were going to try and sneak inside because of all the guards but now with the cloak we have a little more brut force method. My crew will wait close by and I will go invisible and assassinate them, at least until I'm find me. Then I'll tell them to come out and they'll fight them and amidst the chaos I will sneak in a few kills, it the perfect plan.

When it was dark again and with the plan though out we thought we hid and got ready and I said to them "Alright men let's do this!" We had to be quiet but I could still see the anticipation on their eyes. To start the plan I put on the cloak and went to the guards.

In total there were about 100 guards 75 were knights and 25 were archers. I pulled out my rapier and got ready, I slowly walked behind one of the guards and pierced him in the chest with my weapon. Due to the mansion being so big all the guards were spread out along with it being dark with a touch of fog it made killing them without anyone noticing easy.

I started on the opposite side of were the crew wax because that way when I call on them they can take care of the ones that I haven't got to yet. In the end I killed 8 archers and 21 knights until I found a group of knights that were slacking off and formed a friend group.

I tried to kill them al at once but two escaped and screamed very loudly it was honestly pretty annoying They had terror in their eyes like they've never see a man die before, it was a little sad so I ended their misery.

Now the that all the guards new someone was here even if they can't see me I screamed "Attack!" Even though I was too far away to see them I could still hear a mixture of screams of joy and screams of fear.

I went to the crew which had formed a circle and was on the guard as even if they enjoyed fighting no one wants to loose their lives. While the guards were struggling to put a dent in their position I went for some backstabbing, literally.

Unfortunately a guy slashed at me and it pulled my cloak off making me visible again. He then caught me by surprise and pushed me down, I managed to kill him but I was a sitting duck witch allowed a archer to get a hit in my shoulder. It hurt but it wasn't life threatening so I'll make it.

After we killed them all with surprisingly no casualties the rest was easy. We are stronger than a C+ ranked crew but we are new so we aren't really known yet.

Apparently all his guards were put outside which made robing the place easy. We didn't kill the Nobel or his family and servants as most of them are innocent and if we killed the noble we would be in big trouble. Instead we tied them up and threw them in a room. We also left a note to the royal Guard to inform them of his crimes and with that we left.

It was way too easy but it was a little unfair as I did use a invisibility cloak. The worst thing that happened is my shoulder wound which we have nothing to heal it with. Guess I might as well go to the tavern for our feast. With that we went to sleep for the day then we headed back to the Tavern.

Man I really want to get drunk tonight!!!
