8.33% Becoming the No. 1 Streamer of the Legendary Game World / Chapter 5: The announcement that rocks the online gaming community

章 5: The announcement that rocks the online gaming community

The tutorial in New World Online was a solo experience.

It had to be completed alone without any assistance from other players. This meant that every player's success in the tutorial depended entirely on their own abilities.

The only good thing about this type of solo tutorial was that players wouldn't face the threat of player killers—those notorious players who delighted in hunting down others, especially in the early stages of the game when they were most vulnerable.

Before the way to pass the tutorial was widely known, it was like a giant wall that players couldn't scale without falling again and again.

Dying countless times just to get through the tutorial of New World Online was a common occurrence, and it wasn't unusual for people new to this game to find themselves respawning over and over as they tried to figure out the a way to clear the tutorial.

In his previous life, Leon had died ten times before he finally managed to complete the trial, and he was better than the average player. That's just how hard the tutorial was. But in this life, he had the experience of over six years of playing New World Online to aid him. He was extremely confident that he would be able to breeze through the tutorial without any struggle.

His confidence shouldn't be mistaken for overconfidence; it stemmed from the hard-earned experiences of his past life. While he wasn't a renowned player in his past life, his proficiency in using basic skills to take down enemies was second to none. 5 out of ten pro players would lose to him in matches where only basic skills were allowed to be used.

"I should stream it," Leon hoped to earn a small but loyal following by streaming his gameplay. It was easy to broadcast live gameplay of New World Online from inside the game.

Every device came with the game's integrated streaming platform, allowing players to stream directly with just a few simple steps. All you had to do was open the settings menu and activate the Live Stream Mode, and your gameplay would be broadcasted to viewers worldwide in real-time.

The most important part of streaming New World Online was the name of the stream. It was even more important than the gameplay itself. If the name wasn't catchy, nine out of ten viewers on the platform, StreamNet, wouldn't even bother to click on the stream. Only if the name grabbed their attention would they consider watching. Once they were drawn in, the gameplay, if good, could then keep them hooked.

Leon didn't have any doubts about his gameplay; he just needed a catchy name to get people to click on his stream. He thought hard and decided upon a provocative and attention-grabbing title.

He named his stream: "The Tutorial That Has Shunned Countless Pros Is Like a Walk in the Park for Me—Watch Me Breeze Through It."

Leon wasn't expecting to immediately receive attention, but something happened that was completely out of his expectations.

Jason "Blade" Myers, the team leader of Cyber Reapers, an e-sport team renowned for winning the world championship of Digital Gladiators, was scrolling through StreamNet like a defeated loser. Why was that the case? Well, he had entered New World Online with high hopes, aiming to dominate the game from the start, but was harshly slapped with the reality that he couldn't even pass the tutorial. After dying five times, his motivation was swept away as if by a tornado, leaving him feeling utterly low-spirited.

Remembering the bold proclamation he had made to his fans, his face turned beet red like a monkey's butt.

He had confidently told them he would be the first to accomplish what his colleagues, rivals, and enemies hadn't been able to—pass the tutorial without dying even once. He was so sure of himself that he made a bet with his nemesis, who had died four times before passing the tutorial, that he would best him. As a result, his stream had drawn double the usual viewers, only for him to disappoint all of his fans. Out of sheer frustration, he ended the stream early and, just a few minutes ago, sent out an apology message to his fans on Y, a social media platform known for real-time updates and public posts.

In his apology, he promised to stream again tomorrow and give it his all to pass the tutorial. He vowed not to end his stream until he succeeded, no matter how long it took.

Now that he was humbled, Jason was searching for guides to help him pass the tutorial tomorrow with grace.

However, with the game being so newly released, there weren't any excellent guides available yet. As he was scrolling through StreamNet in search of something—anything—that could help him, Jason's attention was caught by a particular stream. Call it coincidence or the mysterious workings of fate, but he stumbled across Leon's live stream.

The title was ridiculously bold and seriously offensive: "The Tutorial That Has Shamed Countless Pros Is Like a Walk in the Park for Me—Watch Me Breeze Through It." Even a pro player like Jason, who had dominated the e-sports scene for years, couldn't get through the tutorial, and now here was someone claiming to overwhelm it with ease. Just who was this guy? Whoever he was, he deserved to be punished for such arrogance. If Jason was going to suffer, he wasn't going to suffer alone!

Jason took a screenshot of Leon's audacious proclamation and posted it on his social media account, along with a challenge: "Let's see if this guy can back up his talk. Join me in his stream, and let's watch him crash and burn—or maybe pull off a miracle."

The effect of his post was immediate. Jason's fans flocked to Leon's stream in droves, curious to see this unknown player make a mockery of himself. Some were eager to see Leon fail miserably, while others, perhaps, hoped to witness him create a miracle.

Leon, who was only hoping for a small amount of attention, received a flurry of notifications on his screen.

System Notification: Viewer "DragonSlayer123" has joined your stream.

...

...

...

System Notification: Viewer "NightHawk" has joined your stream.

...

...

...

System Notification: Viewer "GamerGoddess" has joined your stream.

...

...

...

System Notification: Viewer "CyberBlade" has joined your stream.

...

...

...

System Notification: Viewer "XtremeGamer" has joined your stream.

Leon honeslty felt overwhelmed. He had expected to attract some attention with the way he named his stream, but he hadn't anticipated this much right off the bat.

However, now wasn't the time to get cold feet.

Taking a deep breath, he welcomed them with a smile.

"Welcome to my stream, everyone," Leon said, trying to keep his voice steady. He couldn't help but notice the chat lighting up with a flurry of messages.

"My God, 'Blade' wasn't able to pass the tutorial after five tries, and you think you can just breeze through it?" one viewer, "NightHawk," sneered.

"How dare you claim that the tutorial is a walk in the park! We're here to watch you fail!" typed "DragonSlayer123" with a hint of malice.

"Honestly, I'm just here to see if you can actually pull this off. Don't disappoint me!" said "GamerGoddess," a bit more hopeful than the others.

"You've got some guts, kid. Let's see if you've got the skills to back it up, if you really breeze through it, I will give you a big donation!" added "XtremeGamer."

Leon grinned despite the mixed reactions. He knew there would be skeptics, but that was part of the fun. "Thanks for joining, everyone! Whether you're here to see me fail or succeed, I'm glad to have you. Now, let's get this started."

With that, Leon focused his attention on the game and initiated the tutorial.
