Sandro, who had been absorbing all of this, felt a rush of excitement. This was bigger than anything he had anticipated when he first pitched the idea. Not only were they forming a faction, but they were now at the center of what could be one of the biggest storylines in FCW's recent history. "Dusty, this is genius," Sandro said, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "We could even add layers to the mentoring—have moments where Taylor doubts himself, or where we push him too hard. Maybe there's tension in our group that we have to resolve while The Empire is trying to manipulate Kyle."
Dusty nodded, clearly pleased that Sandro was already thinking about the nuances of the storyline. "Exactly. We want to show that it's not just about in-ring action, but the emotional and psychological journey these young guys go through. And we can play with the dynamics between the mentors and apprentices, creating moments where it looks like Kyle is going to surpass Taylor, or where Taylor starts questioning whether he can handle the pressure of being in a faction with the tag team champs causing him to doubt himself."
Kofi, who had been sitting quietly as he processed the idea, finally spoke up. "I love it. This kind of storytelling isn't something you see every day. We're not just putting over the younger guys; we're building a long-term rivalry that could carry FCW for weeks even months. And when Taylor finally beats Kyle in a big match, it's going to feel huge. It won't just be another win, it'll be the culmination of months of storytelling."
Dusty clapped his hands together, clearly excited to see the enthusiasm from Sandro and Kofi. "That's the spirit, boys. This is the kind of thing that puts butts in seats and gets people talking. And the best part is, we're building two new stars while keeping the spotlight on you two as the co-leaders of your faction."
Sandro, his mind already racing with ideas, couldn't help but think back to the "pro and rookie" system that was used in the early days of NXT in his past life. In that format, established stars mentored up-and-coming talent, creating a dynamic where the rookies were given opportunities to shine under the guidance of veterans.
Remembering this format which created a foundation for NXT, Sandro makes a mental note to write this idea down in his notebook so that he can introduce this concept in the future, etching his name down in history.
After making the mental note to write the idea down, Sandro said with a smile to Dusty, "It adds a real sense of progression for Taylor and Kyle, showing to the fans how they grew along the way and that the fans can feel like they were part of the journey."
Dusty smiled, clearly on the same page. "That's exactly what I was thinking, Sandro. We're creating a narrative where the fans can watch these guys grow, week by week, learning from the best in the business. And by the time we get to the big payoff, when Taylor finally beats Kyle on a major stage, it's going to feel earned."
Steve, who had been quietly taking it all in, finally stood up from his chair, signaling that he was fully on board with the idea. "Let's make it happen. We'll get the creative team working on the specifics, but the core of the story is solid. Sandro, Kofi, you guys start planting the seeds with Taylor and inform him about this storyline he would become part of. We'll start searching for the perfect rival for Taylor, and when we find the perfect candidate we will inform you."
Dusty leaned forward, resting his elbows on his desk as he locked eyes with Sandro and Kofi. "You two are the key to making this work. Your chemistry as a team is undeniable, and now you've got the chance to elevate Taylor and take him to the next level. You ready for that?"
Sandro didn't hesitate for a second. "Absolutely. We've been waiting for something like this, a chance to really make our mark in FCW not just as a tag team champion, but also as part of the industry to find new talents. And Taylor's the perfect guy to bring along for the ride."
Kofi grinned, clearly just as eager. "Let's do it. We'll make this the biggest thing FCW has ever seen in recent years after our rivalry with the Empire."
As they left Dusty's office, Sandro felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through him. This wasn't just about the tag titles anymore; this was about creating a legacy.
A faction war, two young stars on the rise, and a storyline that could carry them through weeks even months of television, this was the kind of opportunity that could define their careers.
As they walked down the hall, Kofi turned to Sandro, a grin plastered on his face. "Man, this is going to be epic."
Sandro nodded, already envisioning the battles that lay ahead. "Yeah, it is. We're about to change the game."
As Sandro and Kofi made their way to the training area, their minds were buzzing with the possibilities that lay ahead. They knew that Taylor's career was about to take a major leap forward, potentially propelling him into the FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship picture.
They spotted Taylor across the room, working on his cardio with a focus that made them both smile. Sandro nudged Kofi as they approached. "He has no idea what's coming," Sandro whispered, grinning.
Kofi chuckled. "He's about to be part of something huge, and he doesn't even know it yet."
As they got closer, Taylor noticed them and immediately stopped what he was doing, wiping sweat from his brow. "Hey, guys. What's up?" he asked, clearly a little curious to see both of them coming his way at the same time.
Sandro gestured for him to take a seat on the nearby bench, while Kofi grabbed a couple of bottles of water. "We've got something big to talk about," Sandro began. "And we think you're going to like it."
Taylor's brow furrowed in confusion, but there was a flicker of excitement in his eyes. "What's going on?"
Kofi handed him a bottle of water before sitting down beside him. "How do you feel about being at the center of the biggest storyline FCW has seen in years?" he asked with a grin.
Taylor's eyes widened. "You're serious?"
Sandro nodded, leaning forward. "Dead serious. Dusty and Steve have signed off on it, and we're about to start building it next year I think. You're going to be mentored by us, but more than that, we're going to make sure you're positioned as a future main eventer. This isn't just a story to elevate us, it's about elevating you. We're setting up a faction war with The Empire, and you're going to be right in the middle of it as you're going to become rivals with their apprentice that they mentored."
Taylor sat back, stunned. He had been grinding away in FCW for some time now after his debut, always giving his best but never quite breaking through to that next level as he still doesn't know what his character should be. Now, it seemed like his time had finally come. "Man, this is... this is huge," he said, shaking his head in disbelief. "I don't even know what to say."
"Say you're ready," Kofi said, his voice serious now. "Because this isn't going to be easy. We're going to push you harder than you've ever been pushed. But when it's all said and done, you'll be standing on top of this company, and you'll have earned every bit of it."
Taylor nodded, his expression shifting from disbelief to determination. "I'm ready. Whatever you guys need me to do, I'm all in."
Sandro clapped a hand on Taylor's shoulder. "That's what we like to hear. We'll start slow, building things up on TV, but in the next few months, you're going to see your name everywhere. The fans are going to be chanting for you, and by the time this story wraps up, they'll be ready to see you challenge for the big one—the FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship."
Taylor took a deep breath, clearly still processing the magnitude of what they were telling him. But one thing was certain: he was ready. "Let's do this," he said firmly.
As they wrapped up the conversation and continued with their training session, the excitement in the air was palpable. This was a turning point for all of them, and they knew it.
Meanwhile, back in Dusty's office, he and Steve were deep in conversation, going over the list of potential rivals for Taylor. They needed someone who could not only challenge him in the ring but also hold their own in the larger faction storyline. After combing through the FCW roster and considering outside talent, they finally found their man.
"Austin Creed," Steve said, a grin spreading across his face as he looked at Dusty.
Dusty nodded, his smile matching Steve's. "Yeah, he's perfect."
Austin Creed was relatively new to the business, having debuted in 2007, but he had already shown a ton of potential. He had previously held the heavyweight championship at Deep South Wrestling (DSW), and while he was under contract with TNA at the moment, his youth and untapped talent made him the ideal candidate to be Taylor's rival.
In kayfabe, it would make perfect sense for Creed to be seen as someone who still needed mentoring despite his previous accomplishments.
"He's got the experience, the charisma, and the skills to really push Taylor," Steve said. "And if we bring him in as The Empire's new apprentice, it adds a whole new layer to the faction war storyline."
Dusty leaned back in his chair, clearly satisfied with their decision. "We just need to work out the details with TNA. If we can get him in the door, we're golden."
Steve nodded, already thinking ahead to the negotiations. "I'll reach out to them later today. But while we're on the subject, do you think it's time to make that call to WWE about those signings we've been working on?"
Dusty paused, considering the question carefully. For weeks, they had been in discussions with several top talents from outside FCW—guys like Tyler Black, Jon Moxley, Samoa Joe, James Storm, Robert Roode, and Eric Young.
These were all wrestlers who had the potential to reshape FCW, and by extension, WWE's future main roster. FCW was the developmental territory, after all, and these signings could create the next generation of WWE superstars.
After a moment, Dusty nodded slowly. "Yeah, it's time. We need to lock them down and start preparing for next year. FCW's about to get a lot more competitive, and with this faction storyline kicking off, we need all the talent we can get."
Steve smiled, already imagining what the FCW roster would look like with those names on it. "I'll make the call. Once we've got those contracts finalized, we can start planning how to integrate them into the roster. But first things first—let's focus on bringing in Austin Creed."
Dusty leaned forward, resting his arms on his desk as he looked at Steve. "Creed is the key to this storyline working. We need someone who can go toe-to-toe with Taylor, someone who can make the fans believe this is a real rivalry. If we get him, we're in business."
Steve nodded, already pulling out his phone to start making the necessary calls. "I'll get it done."
As Steve left the room to handle the negotiations, Dusty sat back and allowed himself a moment to reflect. This was the beginning of something big, and if everything went according to plan, they were about to launch one of the most exciting and competitive eras FCW had ever seen.
A few hours later, Steve returned to Dusty's office with a triumphant look on his face. "Good news," he said, holding up his phone. "I just got off the phone with TNA, and they're willing to let Creed come over for a short-term deal. We've got him."
