AN: MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! 🎅🎄🎉✨
Sandro's frustration at the interference would build tension, making his eventual defeat feel even more heartbreaking. After several hours of grueling practice, the match began to take shape. By the time they wrapped up, everyone was exhausted but satisfied. The promo and match were ready to go, and the team felt confident they'd deliver a segment that would leave fans buzzing.
As the group gathered their belongings and prepared to leave, the camaraderie between them was palpable. Despite the competitive nature of their on-screen rivalry, the mutual respect off-screen was undeniable.
"Great work today, everyone," Sandro said as they exited the performance center. "We're building something special here. Let's keep pushing."
Joe clapped Sandro on the back. "You've got potential, kid. Keep this up, and you'll go far, that talent you have inside and outside of the ring will make you one of a kind if you're keeping this up."
"Thanks, Joe," Sandro replied, his respect for the veteran and he thought as one of the best promo masters in the new generations were evident.
As the days passed in a blur, Sandro found himself deeply immersed in training and rehearsals with his teammates and opponents. Each session brought new challenges and refinements as they worked tirelessly to ensure their performance next Monday night would be unforgettable.
Between working out spots for the War Games promo and his upcoming match with Joe, Sandro barely had time to think about anything else. Yet, amid the chaos, there were two moments that stood out that would stay with him for a long time.
One afternoon, as Sandro was leaving the FCW Performance Center after an intense training session, he spotted two familiar faces entering the building. Davina Rose and Rebecca Knox, two women he had recommended to Dusty Rhodes for signing, and hadn't had the chance to say hi last Monday due to him focusing on his performance that night.
Davina was a bright-eyed, energetic young woman with an infectious smile, while Rebecca carried herself with a quiet confidence that radiated experience and determination. Although both women were older and more seasoned in the ring than Sandro, they approached him with genuine gratitude.
"Sandro," Davina started, her voice warm but tinged with awe, "thank you so much for recommending us. We heard from Dusty that you pushed for us to get signed, and honestly, it means the world to the two of us."
Rebecca nodded, her Irish accent adding a lyrical quality to her words. "Aye, we wouldn't be here without you. You saw somethin' in us when others might not have. That kind of faith doesn't come easy, and we appreciate it more than we can say."
For a moment, Sandro was overwhelmed. Seeing these two women, wrestlers he had admired in his past life, thanking him felt surreal. He scratched the back of his head, a shy smile spreading across his face. "Oh, come on, you two. It's nothing, really. Sooner or later, WWE to the extent FCW as its developmental brand would've noticed you. You've got too much talent not to. All I did was speed up the process a little."
Davina beamed, and Rebecca let out a chuckle, but their gratitude didn't waver, believing that Sandro was just trying to be humble.
"Still," Davina said, "it means a lot to us. We'll make sure we don't let you or ourselves down."
The three soon found themselves talking about the future, particularly about the personas Davina and Rebecca would adopt in FCW. Sandro, having the memories from his past life and combined with his current life, had spent years observing the evolution of wrestling, and he believed that the persona that both wrestlers had in his past life would help them stand out.
"Listen," Sandro began, "I've got some thoughts about your personas. Take them or leave them, but I think these could really work for you both."
Both women nodded, clearly intrigued y the idea Sandro had.
"Rose," he continued, "you've got this joyful, infectious energy that people can't help but love. Lean into that. Be the person who's always optimistic, and always sees the good in people. Maybe even make it your thing to give hugs, to everyone, fans, staff, other wrestlers, literally everyone. It might sound silly at first, but trust me, fans are going to eat it up. They'll love you for it, especially since children are also a core part of wrestling fans."
Davina's eyes widened, and a smile spread across her face. "That… actually sounds perfect. I've always been someone who tries to spread positivity. Why not bring that into the ring? And hugs? I can totally do that! Thanks for the great idea!"
Sandro grinned before turning to Rebecca. "Now, for you, I think the opposite approach could work. You've got this tough, no-nonsense vibe that's badass. What if you leaned into that? Be someone who acts like they've got the soul of an Irish man, not a woman, tough as nails, and doesn't take crap from anyone. You could be the one people fear to cross but still respect deeply. A tomboyish, gritty fighter who stands out as someone impossible to crack, and goes out to do whatever she wants."
Rebecca tilted her head, considering his words. Slowly, a smirk formed. "Y'know, that feels right. I've always been more of a tomboy anyway. If I can channel that into my persona, it'll feel natural. And if it gets people talking, all the better."
Sandro felt a sense of pride as he watched their reactions. "I don't know why," he said to the two of them to convince them both using this persona they had in his past life, "but I've got a good feeling about these directions for you two. If you stick with them, I think your careers could go places, big places."
The two women exchanged glances, their expressions showing they felt the same. It was as if Sandro had tapped into something they hadn't even realized about themselves.
As for the other moment, it was when the day was already long, with hours spent in intense training and rehearsals, but Sandro wasn't one to complain. Wrestling was his life, and every moment spent in the ring felt like a step closer to solidifying his legacy, not just for himself, but for the industry he loved.
Taking a rare break, Sandro sat with Joe and the others, catching their breath between drills. The camaraderie among them was strong, with jokes and stories filling the air. Joe had just finished telling a tale about a botched promo early in his career when a booming voice cut through the noise.
"Sandro! Over here!"
It was Dusty, standing at the other end of the training center with one of the FCW trainers beside him. Sandro rose from his spot, his curiosity piqued. Dusty rarely interrupted their sessions unless it was something important.
As Sandro approached, he noticed two young women standing near Dusty and as he approached, he realized it was Ashley Elizabeth Flair and Alexis Kaufman who Sandro suggested to Dusty to be signed as trainees, as in his past life would also become part of the women's revolution in wrestling, like Davina and Rebecca. They were both clearly nervous but trying to hide it. Dusty gave Sandro a wide grin and gestured toward the women.
"Sandro, I want ya to meet Ashley Elizabeth Flair and Alexis Kaufman. These two young ladies just joined us here at FCW, thanks to a certain someone's recommendations." Dusty gave Sandro a knowing look, his grin never faltering.
Sandro extended his hand to the newcomers, offering a warm smile. "Nice to meet you both. Welcome to the madness."
Ashley was the first to shake his hand, her grip firm. "Thank you," she said, her voice tinged with determination. "It's an honor to be here. We've heard a lot about you."
Alexis followed suit, her handshake a little lighter but no less genuine. "Yeah, seriously. Everyone's been talking about how you're the guy behind so many of the changes happening here."
Sandro chuckled, feeling a bit sheepish. "Don't believe everything you hear. I just throw out ideas and hope they stick. The real credit goes to Dusty and the team."
Dusty waved him off. "Ah, don't be so modest, kid. Now listen, I've got a favor to ask. These two need to start with the basics, and I can't think of anyone better to teach 'em about safety in the ring. You're one of the safest workers I've ever seen, and if anyone can set the right example, it's you."
Sandro glanced at the trainer, who nodded in agreement. It was a compliment he didn't take lightly, especially coming from someone like Dusty. "Of course," he said. "I'd be happy to help the two of them."
As Sandro and Dusty talked, Ashley and Alexis exchanged whispers, their eyes occasionally darting toward him. They hadn't expected to be working with someone of Sandro's caliber so early in their training.
The buzz around the performance center was that Sandro wasn't just one half of the tag champs but also one of the driving forces behind FCW's evolution. It was almost surreal to them that he'd be the one guiding them today.
"All right, ladies," Sandro said, clapping his hands together as he turned to them. "Let's get started."
They moved to an empty ring, and Sandro began with a simple yet crucial lesson: how to take a bump. He demonstrated the proper technique, explaining each movement in detail.
"The key to a good bump is protecting yourself while making it look impactful," he said. "You've got to trust the mat, trust your body, and most importantly, trust your opponent. Safety is everything."
Ashley was the first to try, her competitive nature pushing her to get it right on the first attempt. She landed awkwardly, wincing slightly as she stood up. Sandro immediately stepped in.
"Good effort, but you're tensing up too much," he said. "Relax your body and let the mat do the work. Watch me again."
He performed another bump, this time emphasizing the fluidity of the motion. Ashley nodded, determination written all over her face. Her next attempt was much smoother, and Sandro gave her an approving nod.
"Better. Now keep practicing until it feels natural."
Alexis was up next. Her movements were hesitant, reflecting her smaller stature and cautious approach. Sandro adjusted his coaching style, offering encouragement and reassurance.
"Take your time," he said. "It's not about getting it perfect right away. It's about learning to trust the process."
By the end of the session, both women were noticeably more confident. They had a long way to go, but Sandro could see the potential in both of them. Ashley had an undeniable intensity, while Alexis exuded a quiet resilience that hinted at hidden strength.
Building Trust
After the basics, Sandro shifted the focus to grappling and chain wrestling, emphasizing the importance of communication and trust.
"When you're in that ring, you're telling a story," he explained. "But you can't do it alone. You've got to trust your partner to help you tell that story, and they've got to trust you to keep them safe."
He paired Ashley and Alexis together, guiding them through a series of lockups and transitions. As they practiced, he offered tips and corrections, his tone always encouraging.
"Alexis, keep your footing steady. You're light on your feet, which is great, but don't let it throw off your balance."
"Ashley, don't overpower her. Wrestling isn't about brute strength, it's about control."
Dusty watched from the sidelines, nodding in approval. "You've got a knack for this, Sandro," he said. "Ever think about becoming a trainer someday?"
Sandro laughed. "Let me get through my own career first, Dusty. But who knows? Maybe someday."
As the session wrapped up, Ashley and Alexis approached Sandro, their earlier nervousness replaced by gratitude.
"Thank you for taking the time with us," Ashley said. "You didn't have to, but it means a lot."
Alexis nodded in agreement. "Yeah, seriously. We learned so much today."
Sandro waved them off. "Don't mention it. You both did great. Just remember, this is only the beginning. Keep working hard, stay safe, and always respect the ring." As they walked away, Dusty clapped Sandro on the shoulder. "You're somethin' special, kid. Keep this up, and you're gonna leave a legacy bigger than you can imagine."
