Chapter 67: Collaboration
"There must be a secret at the bottom of this cliff…" As Mo Yu's calm voice echoed, the Little Fairy Doctor's gentle expression instantly changed.
The next moment, she suddenly stepped back, and a puff of white powder was unexpectedly thrown in Mo Yu's direction, quickly enveloping him.
The white powder surrounded Mo Yu for a while before slowly being blown away by the wind, revealing him lying on the ground with his eyes closed, seemingly unconscious.
Looking at the unconscious Mo Yu, the Little Fairy Doctor gently clapped her hands to remove the remaining powder. Biting her lip, she sighed, "I'm sorry, even though I don't know how you found out about this secret."
Shaking her head, she slowly walked toward the unconscious Mo Yu. As she bent down to tie him up with a rope, she didn't notice that the young man had already opened his eyes. In an instant, he flipped her over and restrained her.
The powder wasn't poisonous—it only caused dizziness. But since Mo Yu possessed the Vermilion Bird's Heaven Flame Thunder, the powder couldn't affect him.
"Let go of me!" The sudden turn of events caught the Little Fairy Doctor off guard. Her face turned pale, and the close proximity to the young man made her uncomfortable. She bit her lip and shouted angrily.
"You attacked me. Don't you think you owe me an explanation?" Mo Yu didn't release his grip as he looked her over. Although he wasn't as aggressive as Xiao Yan, he wasn't about to let her go without understanding her motives.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she replied coldly, her face showing a slight change in expression. "Let me go now, or I'll scream. If someone sees you like this, you won't make it out of the Magical Beast Mountain Range alive."
"Oh? Then go ahead and call for help," Mo Yu said indifferently. "Let's see if you can still keep your secret about the cliff once people arrive."
"How do you know about that?" The Little Fairy Doctor was taken aback. She had only recently discovered the secret at the bottom of the cliff, and she was suspicious of how confident Mo Yu seemed.
"You kept glancing at the cliff, and you somehow ended up below it. Any experienced mercenary would sense something was off." Although Mo Yu already knew the truth, her actions had been quite clumsy.
Hearing Mo Yu's explanation, the Little Fairy Doctor blushed slightly with embarrassment. Although she was about the same age as Mo Yu, she lacked his experience and understanding.
"My name is Mo Yu. Since you didn't show any intent to kill me, I won't harm you either. I assume you haven't known about this secret for long. Why don't we work together?" Mo Yu suggested, already knowing what was inside the cave and not being overly interested in most of its contents. He didn't mind sharing with her.
The Little Fairy Doctor bit her lip, staring intently at Mo Yu. After a moment, she reluctantly agreed, "Fine, I agree. But don't go back on your word."
Mo Yu smiled lightly and stood up, offering his hand to help her rise. Once both were standing, he released her, knowing that her cultivation level was low and her poisons were ineffective against him.
Surprised by how much trust Mo Yu showed her, the Little Fairy Doctor's resentment began to fade. She looked at him with a mix of curiosity and relief.
They walked together to the cliff, both staring at the strange section of the cliffside. After a moment, the Little Fairy Doctor spoke softly, "I discovered this while gathering herbs. Behind that odd-looking tree, there's a hidden cave that's hard to notice."
"The cave likely belongs to someone powerful from the past, but I haven't gone inside yet, so I don't know much about it. Judging by the traces outside, though, whoever left this cave must have been very strong."
"Hmm." Mo Yu nodded calmly, knowing much more about the cave than she did, though he kept it to himself. There was one item inside that he was particularly interested in.
Under the faint moonlight, the two figures were barely visible as they stood on the steep cliff.
"Shall we begin?" Mo Yu took a step forward, looking down into the dark abyss, then turned to the Little Fairy Doctor.
She nodded slightly, crouched down to gather some dry wood, and quickly fashioned two torches. Sprinkling them with a pale yellow powder, she lit them with a fire starter from her pouch.
Mo Yu tested the quality of the rope she had taken out before handing her one of the torches. "Let's go down together," he said calmly, leaving no room for argument.
Seeing that Mo Yu was determined, the Little Fairy Doctor clenched her teeth in frustration and reluctantly agreed, giving a little stomp with her foot.
Mo Yu tied the rope securely to a sturdy tree, testing it once more before turning to her. "Come here," he said, holding out his arms.
"What are you trying to do?" she asked warily.
"We're going down together. Do you have another rope?" Mo Yu replied, glancing at her and smiling slightly.
Realizing she had no choice, she gritted her teeth and huffed, "Fine, but you better not try anything funny!"
With that, a fragrant breeze hit Mo Yu's face as she jumped into his arms, her soft body pressing against him. The sensation made Mo Yu's body tense as her sweet scent filled his senses, and he felt her softness against him.
Trying to control his reactions, Mo Yu wrapped his arms around her slender waist, trying to suppress any inappropriate thoughts.
"Aren't you going to move?" she whispered angrily into his ear.
"Uh…sorry." Mo Yu tightened his grip slightly before pushing off the edge of the cliff. They descended into the dark chasm below.
As the wind howled in their ears, Mo Yu held onto the Little Fairy Doctor with one hand and used the other to control the rope. Their rapid descent slowed as Mo Yu deftly managed the rope, suspending them in midair for a moment before they finally reached a cave halfway down the cliff.
Once they were safe, Mo Yu looked down at the Little Fairy Doctor, who was still clinging tightly to him, her face buried in his chest. He couldn't help but tease, "How are you feeling?"
Realizing they had safely landed, she slowly lifted her head and glanced around. Seeing that they were safe, she sighed in relief. But when she noticed how she was wrapped around him, her face turned red with embarrassment.
The quiet night and narrow cave, punctuated by the occasional bird call, added to the atmosphere. The Little Fairy Doctor clung tightly to Mo Yu, feeling the warmth of his chest, and an unusual tension filled the small space.
Just as she was about to pull away from him, Mo Yu's sudden shout made her freeze and clutch him even tighter.
"Careful, there's a rock snake!"
