章 1: Prologue
[A/N: YOU DO NOT NEED TO READ THIS SYNOPSIS, YOU CAN CONTINUE WITH THE STORY FROM CHAPTER 1. But, if you want to give this scene a try, sure, go ahead. It's just a small scene from the middle of the story.]
"You're going to be fine, Kirk. We'll be fine. Trust me."
Those were the last words I told my best friend before I left him at the lab.
'Nothing's going to go wrong. Nothing will go wrong.'

15th of July, 2023.
Gotham City:
The clock tower in the middle of the city had its hands right on the dot of three. Rain has been descending on the town since that night, nonstop.
I alone stood atop a building in the night as the rain showered my body.
However, even the rain could not cool down the warmth that was burning inside my body. Like a fire trapped within my soul, it kept burning and burning. Flames arose within me. Lust as I have never felt before.
I wasn't Bruce Wayne at that moment. I didn't know who I was.
Everything my eyes perceived was just a blend of green and yellow. No real colors to it. It was as if I was seeing through heat-signature glasses.
"Mom, it's ok. I'll be coming tomorrow. I'm in Gotham right now, with Ed. He's sleeping…"
"Jason, why are you doing this to me? Just leave me be. I said I don't want to be with you."
"My name? HAHAHA. It's Harley. Harley Quinn."
Bam! Bam!
"Die bitch! Die!!"
Voices were ringing in my head. Sounds that I never wanted to hear, echoing through my mind. But where were they coming from? There was no one holding a gun beside me. The streets around me were empty.
Everything was dark with not a single light flickering through the windows in the buildings that surrounded me. The entire block was sleeping.
"Argh!" I shrieked pain, grabbing my head and falling to my knees.
The rain had soaked my pajamas and my robe was torn apart by the pipes and metal wires that I had bruised my body with as I climbed along the building wall moments before. However, the bruises were no longer there on my body. Only the half torn robe.
"What is happening?"
I gazed at my hands and saw sharp claws protruding through my fingertips.
"What have I become?"
My thoughts were scattered. My mind had gone blank. There was not a single thought that could guide me through my situation.
But deep down, I knew two things.
One, I was no longer merely human.
Two, I was hungry.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
"Arghhh! Get away from me!" A woman's cry echoed behind me. My head instantly spun towards the sound, my teeth gritting as saliva dripped from the corners of my lips.
"Wait – or I'll rip you apart woman!" The furious voice of a man followed the helpless woman's cry.
I stepped to the edge of the building and gazed down at the somber street that was only lit by the flickering light post on the pavement.
A woman dressed in a beautiful red dress was running down the alley with a man in a black mask chasing her, knife in hand. At the end of the street was my car, which I crashed into the light post moments before.
"Oh – PLEASE SOMEBODY! Somebody help me!" The woman shrieked in fear as the man knocked her down from behind, pinning her body down to the street.
What was I supposed to do? My thoughts were scrambled. I could not even think clearly. Part of me wanted to run down there and give the rapist a beating – but something inside of me feared that action. I was holding myself back.
"Looky here, a Lamborghini parked in the street just for me? Hahaha. See, this is my lucky day, woman. You're not going to ruin it," the man in the mask said, tying up the woman's mouth and placing her on his shoulder.
"Mmmph!"
Even then, the woman did not give up. She wiggled her body, kicked the air with muffled screams.
"Stop wriggling you bitch –"
Finally, the woman managed to let her knee come in contact with the masked man's face.
Crack! I even heard the man's jaw crack.
The rapist fell to the street along with the woman.
"Argh!" The rapist's teeth had broken, blood was dripping down his mouth. "You bitch! I'll fucking kill you!" He grasped the knife at his side, rising to his feet as the terrified woman gazed up at the man, rolling on the filthy water that filled the street.
"Mmmph~" she closed her eyes.
I sniffed. The smell was heavenly. My desire for it, endless. I leaned on all fours on the edge of the building, setting my eyes on the rapist.
Then, I leaped.
I shot across the air at an incredible speed, cutting through the air like a jet. I didn't know if I was flying or not, but the moment I stepped on the ground, I had my grip around the neck of the rapist and one knee pressed against his chest.
"Glah~" He coughed out more blood as the pain from the contact with my knee ran across his body.
"W – what are you – a monster?"
I could not reply to that. My mouth was oozing with saliva and my body's desires were deep.
Without a single thought, I sank my sharp teeth into the neck of the man. He screamed in agony, banging my head with his fist. But I could not release my jaws no matter how he smashed me with his fist.
Minutes passed. A thick heavenly juice ran down my lips into my system. The warmth within my body gradually receded. My hunger was satisfied.
When I decided to pull my teeth out of the man's neck, he wasn't beating on me anymore. His eyes were lifeless. The man's body had grown pale and his heart was no longer beating.
I released the body from my hands, stepping backwards.
My senses were coming back to me. My memories gradually flooded into my mind.
"Kirk. Rae. Alfred. The antidote. Oh, fuck. What the hell have I become?"
