Back In Time

章 1: We Lost

Four individuals could be seen leaning against each others backs. They all looked severely injured and looked as if they lost a lot of blood.

These four were none other than Shikamaru Nara, Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto Uzamaki, and Kakashi Hatake. They just fought and won the 5th great ninja war, but what was the point of winning? Everything or everyone they ever knew or loved was all gone, only leaving the four of them.

Sasuke: "We won huh?"

Shikamaru: "Seems so..."

Kakashi: "..."

Naruto: ". . . I'm sorry guys... that I didn't do my job as Hokage and protect the village"

They all sat silently, they wanted to cheer him up and say it wasn't his fault, that it was nobody's fault since it was an unpredictable event. However they couldn't, they blamed themselves as well and Naruto knew this which is why he said what he said. He also said that because it was true, he didn't prevent the village from being destroyed like his father Minato Namikaze had, from the nine tails attack.

Sasuke and Naruto had lost their family just a couple hours before this and Shikamaru lost his a couple days ago, Kakashi also had a lover but she died before the war even started. She was just a normal villager and couldn't even protect herself, Kakashi clenched his fist at the thought of that. He couldn't protect the one he loved, they all couldn't yet they called themselves ninja. Naruto leaned forward, since he couldn't really stand, and took off the Hokage jacket dropping it on the ground. The others were going to tell him to stop but they knew he wouldn't, they knew how he felt at the moment and if they were him they would probably do the same thing. Naruto leaned back against everyone else.

Naruto: "So this is the end... I love you guys" (You know he didn't mean it like that)

Shikamaru: "Haha, yeah" Shikamaru laughed weakly.

Sasuke: "How stupid" He said while a little smile formed on his face.

Kakashi: "You kids are so weird. But thank you."

Naruto: "Hehe, no problem sensei" Naruto said in his normal tone of voice that he always used when he felt that he was at peace.

Everyone was surprised at this since its been a long time since he talked like that, in fact its been a long time since any of them felt that they were at peace since the war took almost a full year. Meaning they never stopped fighting even if they were on the verge of death. They all leaned their heads back against one another and all thought the same thing.

'Mabey death is the peace were looking for'

Naruto felt that his life was withering away so he closed his eyes and smiled for the last time. Everyone saw that his chakra suddenly disappeared and Kakashi let a few tears run down his face. He felt that his life was also slipping away, and he closed his eyes letting darkness take him away. Shikamaru looked at the clouds for the last time before doing the same thing Naruto and Kakashi did, then not long after Sasuke followed.

When Sasuke opened his eyes he saw white all around him, he stopped looking and realised that the others were also there.

Sasuke: "So were all here"

Naruto: "Yeah! What's wrong with that!? You got a problem with that!?"

They all covered their ears missing their dying moments when Naruto didn't have the energy to yell.

Shikamaru: "I think he meant 'Why are we all here'. He just worded it differently."

Naruto: "Why didn't he just say that in the first place then!

Kakashi: "Sounds like good old Sasuke to me"

Naruto: "Hey! You to Kakashi Sensei?" He said with anime tears running down his face.

They all stopped and looked at each other before laughing.

???: "Looks like you guys are enjoying your time here" A mysterious voice said.

Everybody shot their heads backwards and got into a fighting stance with Shikamaru next to Naruto and Kakashi and Sasuke in front of him.

???: "No need to do that. I'm not your enemy"

Naruto: "OOOH! The Sage of Six Paths! I've seen you before!" Naruto exclaimed with stars in his eyes.

Everybody stopped and looked surprised for a minute before Kakashi activated his sharingan to see if they were in a genjustsu.

Kakashi: "Were not in a genjutsu so he's either real or were just dreaming"

Sasuke: "He's most likely real"

Naruto: "He is real!"

Shikamaru: "Uuuh-I don't know anymore, I just wanna go to bed"

Sage of Six Paths: "I don't have a lot of time so ill explain quickly. What I'm technically going to do is send you guys back in time, however I don't have control of where I send you to so if I send you to before you were even born then don't blame me. Any questions?"

Naruto: "Wait so Kakashi could technically save my parents then?!"

Sage of Six Paths: "Yes that is if you are brought back to that time frame which will most likely not happen. The scars that you have obtained will also remain since all I'm doing is turning back time and shrinking your bodies. If i just turn back time than you guys will also be affected and wont remember anything, which is why ill shrink your bodies to match the time frame ill be bringing you to. Don't worry, you wont go to far back which is why i said that Naruto's parents surviving is most likely not possible. You will be striped of all of your abilities since your child body could only take so much and Kakashi will be as strong as he was back then so you don't need to worry. You three however will most likely go back to when you were about 5."

Sasuke was fine with losing his current abilities since those abilities would only make things more difficult and suspicious and he would also do anything to save the people he loved. His eyes would probably remain the same though. But he also felt bad about this. Although he could attempt to help and save his clan, Naruto couldn't since his clan died only a couple hours after he was born. Naruto seeing Sasuke and somehow knowing what he was thinking looked at him saying it was alright.

Sage of Six Paths: "Alright are you guys ready?"

Shikamaru: "Wait! Everybody's obviously gonna question how we have all these scars and how Sasuke is missing an entire arm so were gonna need time to make some sort of plan before we go, and another thing... Why are you helping us?" Shikamaru said with a glinting glare. Everybody realizing they were trusting this guy without any proof hit them in the head and they all also started to glare at him.

Sage of Six Paths: "You guys just remind me... of my past self. I didn't have a second chance though so be grateful". He said the last part giving them a deathening glare back. Everyone seeing this gulped but knew he wasn't lying. They had a sort of feeling that told them to trust him.

Sage of Six Paths: "Ill give you guys 10 minutes to decide on what excuse to make so you better be quick."

Everyone hearing this started talking amongst each other trying to come up with a plan. When they were done they felt quite bad as this lie was quite cruel and was going to cause unnecessary worry from their family and people who care about them.

Sage of Six Paths: "I wish you guys the best of luck then"

He then closed his eyes and told them to hold on to each other and when they did he opened his eyes and everything then went black as if someone just turned the lights off.

(Kakashi POV)

When I felt that I could open my eyes I opened them and what i saw almost made me want to cry. It was my old room from when i was still in ANBU.

Kakashi: 'It worked, he sent us back' I thought to myself as i walked to the window to see the village.

However much i wanted to just stay here and look at the beautiful sight in front of me, I had a job to do. I had to fulfill my part so the lie that we (mostly Shikamaru) made up could work. They of course also had to fulfill their parts of the lie but I had the biggest part to play since little kids couldn't really do this.

Kakashi: 'What would they ever do without me' I thought as I got changed into my ANBU outfit.

The lie was really wrong and a bad thing to do however it was necessary, and if it worked it would be the biggest thing they ever pulled off. But it had to do with showing off things that they were insecure about. Scars, the scars they got during the 5th shinobi war.

As Kakashi slowly made his way out of his house he ran in the direction of the Hokage tower.
