Long Cheng was never a gentleman, so instead of going to Lou Mary for help, he grabbed at anything that he could use, which was long enough to reach the female shifter so that, he could move her away, in case she was too slow to move away from, the upcoming thunderbolt.
"Get away from there, now!" Long Cheng commanded, before shifting his focus to any lightning bolts that would come in his direction.
He was not even looking at her, busy avoiding the lightings. For some reason, he had the feeling that all the bolts were deliberately aiming at him.
If not for the smaller bolts burning other trees, Long Cheng would have thought that someone was manipulating the lightning bolts in the Thunder Forest.
For it was strange that the flashes of lightning were becoming faster by every passing minute. 'I need to get out of here!' That's what he wanted, but he wasn't done searching the place for his mate.
Lou Mary gritted her teeth as she tried to stand up from the ground, forcing herself to endure pain. She cast a level three healing spell on herself, which immediately helped her move a bit better. Her face looked grim and terrified since the thunders were still attacking Long Cheng.
"What are you still waiting for? Get the hell away from there!" Long Cheng said, getting distracted with Lou Mary's presence.
At the same time, a lightning bolt reached him and burned his scales slightly, not enough to cut his skin.
The white shirt and jeans, he was wearing were already dirty and tattered. Even the clothes that he had bought for Lu Meili were probably all ruined.
At that moment, Long Cheng looked like a human lizard, covered with red scales which smelled like smoke.
Long Cheng sprinted to the nearest tree and leaned his back on it, using his heightened senses to look for his mate hard, but also to avoid any more thunderbolts.
"Why are you still here? Why you are not following orders?!" Long Cheng yelled at Lou Mary, before shaking his with disappointment.
"Your Highness, I can't leave you." Lou Mary stubbornly replied, from her hiding place. She also noticed that the farther she was from Long Cheng, the lesser thunders were coming towards her. "I can heal you! Let me stay!" She pleaded.
Long Cheng hissed in anger, before glaring at Lou Mary with contempt. "Damn it! You are bothering me also you are useless here, I will not be responsible for your death!"
She was hurt and unable to refute. Which left Lou Mary with no choice, but to obey Long Cheng order. So, she left the mountain top without him, dreading. She was planning to bring help to him.
Lou Mary was not aware that the moment she left, the invisible female silhouette from earlier, jumped from the tree and put her legs around Long Cheng's neck in a hold, that looked like she wanted to choke him.
Alarmed, Long Cheng tried to attack the thing, causing him to nearly lose his balance.
His claws were already extended, but when he tried to attack, he was not able to do so.
"I thought you were going to kill me." Lu Meili with stated indifference.
"Meili?! What are you doing here?!" Long Cheng asked stiffening before he grinned happily. He was glad that she was alright and took the initiative to get close to him.
Lu Meili was upset and disappointed with Long Cheng. She had been observing from a tree branch not far away from him, so she was completely aware of what conversation he had with the woman, who killed 'Rusan' the dragon-shifter from earlier.
'This is all your fault!' Lu Meili mentally kicked herself. Her situation would have been better if she had never met Long Cheng at all.
Due to her annoyance, Lu Meili has casted a lightning affinity spell towards Long Cheng. That is why he was like a magnet to the thunderbolts.
Sadly, Lu Meili was not thinking clearly, because of what she did, the sky would wholly concentrate on him. She had underestimated the thunderstorms from the forest.
"At least, that damn female shifter was hurt." Lu Meili consoled herself, remembering how Long Cheng had used a branch, to send Lou Mary away. If he had stepped in to help the female shifter personally, she probably would have left him alone to suffer the wrath of the spell. Still, Lu Meili felt terrible, but she also didn't want her mate to die.
As the caster herself, she was immune to the magic. Thus the lightning would have never been sent her way. With that thought in mind, Lu Meili needed to cover Long Cheng.
'I just need to do this for him until the thunder rain subsides. It should happen before the stealth is gone.' So she thought...
