Austin had met her roommate when she'd made it to her room. She'd spent some time sitting with Takumi on the grass, hearing about his summer and talking about their usual topics.
The roommate was nice, a plain girl with dark hair and light eyes. She was average but she was also a Weekday Warrior, which meant the dorm was all to Austin on the weekends. Score.
A knock at the door pulled Austin away from the book in her hand. She had a limited amount of time to finish it, considering she'd swiped it from Alaska's shelf.
"Hey." Takumi greeted when she opened the door.
"Hey." She replied as she stood there in a tight red t-shirts and light cutoff jeans.
"It's bufriedo day. You hungry?" Takumi asked her with a small smile.
"Sure." She replied. She backed away from the door to slip on her shoes.
They walked down the hall together in silence. Austin looked over at him, smiling to herself before she looped her right arm through his left. He smiled down at her as they continued to walk together. They sat together at a table, soon accompanied by Pudge and the Colonel.
Takumi talked with his mouth full, looking over at Pudge. "God, nothing like watching a man eat his first bufriedo."
Takumi ate, chewed and swallowed all while talking about random topics. Austin nodded and replied along, always one to keep up with his little tangents. That is, until the topic settled on Marya and her boyfriend, the one's who'd been kicked out, landing Alaska with a single. They'd been kicked out committing the Trifecta. Rumors had it they'd been ratted on and Takumi was intent on finding out who. Austin stayed quiet, knowing better, but if Takumi asked her the right question, it would be game over for Alaska. She couldn't lie to him, ever.
"Paul was an asshole." Chip said. "I wouldn't have ratted on them, but anyone who shacks up with a jaguar-driving Weekday Warrior like Paul deserves what she gets."
"Dude, yaw guhfwend." Takumi replied with a mouthful of food. He swallowed before continuing. "Is a Weekday Warrior."
"True." Chip laughed. "Much to my chagrin, that is an incontestable fact. But she is not as big an asshole as Paul."
"Not quite." Takumi smirked. Chip laughed again.
"Depends on who you ask." Austin replied.
Austin found herself in her room, Takumi sitting across from her.
"The Colonel's really pushing us together." Takumi announced suddenly.
"Is he?" She asked. "I had no idea."
"Horrible liar." Takumi told her.
"I am not." She replied. It was half true. She was a decent liar, but she couldn't lie to him. They'd known each other for as long as they'd all know each other- since 9th grade. Takumi and Austin had always been on the same page and the Colonel had always noticed, attempting to push Takumi whenever he found the opportunity. It's never stuck.
"What'd he say?" She asked, giving in.
"Same thing he's said the past year and a half. To grow a pair. To ask you out. Whatever." He swatted his hand as if trying to swat away the Colonel.
"Whatever?" She asked, tilting her head. What the hell did that mean?
"Not whatever." Takumi's face grew serious. "Whatever to him, not us."
"Us?" She asked.
"This would be easier if I were drunk." Takumi admitted.
"But you aren't." Austin replied. "And I'm glad you aren't."
"Doyouwanttobemygirlfriend?" He rushed out without another ounce of hesitation.
Austin smirked. "Yaw guhfwend?" She asked.
Takumi laughed at her and nodded. "Yeah, my guhfwend."
"Yes, Takumi, I want to be yaw guhfwend." Austin replied.
The two smiled at each other like fools before Takumi stood.
"I'm gonna go tell the Colonel to suck a dick." He told her, leaning down. He kissed Austin's forehead before walking out of her dorm.
